Alliance Command Structure

The Alliance Directors

The Alliance Directors (AD) are made up of members of the alliance who are the most long standing members, most of whom were in [woa] from the beginning.

Alliance Council

The Alliance Council (AC) is in place to ensure that all Guilds within the Alliance are aware of all issues, in other words it acts as a liaison committee. All members of the AC will have extra tasks which they take on within the Alliance, many of these are "backroom" tasks which many are not aware of e.g. administration and moderation of the forums, problem solving both when problems arise, and to try to avoid problems occurring in the first place. In essence, if you aren't really aware of what the AC are doing, but you're enjoying your time in the Alliance, the AC are doing their job.

Officers

As with any rank there comes responsibility, responsibility to ensure that the Guild/Alliance is running smoothly, and to be on hand to take on board any queries members may have (remember Officers may also be "in game" too, so never become despondent if they don't deal with your query immediately). Officers also have the ability (although it would be better described as a responsibility) of granting new members access to the Guild.

Procedures

New Member Integration Period

In order to ensure that all members are comfortable with new potential members; and indeed that all new potential members are comfortable with the Guild/Alliance, an integration period (nominally 1 month) has been set up. During this time the potential member will be given "Guest Privileges" within the Guild and will be on their way to becoming a full member. Upon completion of the integration period, when the potential member, and the Alliance are happy with each other, the new member will be invited to join the Guild, and "Caped"

New Guilds joining The Alliance

Any new guilds joining The Alliance will go through a similar procedure to that of a potential Guild Member. During this period assurances will be sought and given as to the conduct and suitability of all the members of the Guild. All the members of the potential additional Guild will spend "time amongst the troops". When all are happy that the new guild will fit within The Alliance, they will be incorporated into The Alliance, if at the end (or at any time in between) of the Guild integration period, concerns arise or one or more parties do not wish to continue with the process, the prospective Guild will go on their way in the world, and we will continue as before.

Conduct and Expectations

Language

As there are younger Alliance Members you are asked to respect this and refrain from using inappropriate language whilst in Alliance and Guild chat. Whilst you are in team chat and whispers your language is yours to control; but we do ask that you chat in a decent and non offensive manner to those who can "hear you" at all times.

Decency

Be decent at all times, again, there are younger members in our Alliance, and as such we need to set a good example. If you wish to spend your time on Guild Wars arguing, insulting and being offensive to people, then this Alliance is not the place for you.

Grievance Procedure & Dispute Resolution

Should you find yourself in dispute with another Alliance member, bring your concerns to the attention of an Alliance Officer, where possible take screen shots of whatever is the cause of your concern. In the event that your dispute or concern is with an Officer, bring this to the attention of your Guild Leader or an Alliance Council Member.

If you have a dispute for whatever reason, please follow the above guidelines, don't become embittered, or at odds with another Alliance Member and don't keep it to yourself; that will only make a resolvable issue into something it needn't be.

Ventrilo

The Alliance has a vent server for speech communication, it is desirable to use this for in game communications where possible; it is not however mandatory. It must also be accepted that due to personal circumstances people may not be allowed to use vent or may choose not to use vent as it may cause disruption to others in their geographical location. When using Vent the same rules of language and decency apply as with text communication within game.

Forums

By reading these guidelines, you are aware that The Alliance has forums. All Alliance members are expected to use and participate on the forums, as they provide a great resource to The Alliance, and allow a great deal of information to be at hand should you need it.

Fun

This game is about having fun, when it ceases to be fun there ceases to be a reason to play. Go out in the world and play, pick up treasures skills and knowledge. All Alliance members will be happy to pass on their knowledge, and will always be listening out for anything people have to say which may improve their play.

Game play

Although members will always give assistance to others who need it when they can; it is not a prerogative that they must. If you are struggling with something on a Mission or in a Quest consult one of the "Wiki's" they give you guided tours, hints,
tactics, etc and usually show best routes through Missions and Quests.

All Ranks

The Alliance is what it's name says, an "Alliance" it is a collective of people. You should all be proud of your Alliance and your respective Guild, and should always be looking for ways to better them. If you have an idea regarding anything, put it forward. If it's viable and won't cause extra work for others, then we'll look to implement it. Be tolerant of the guidelines for the Alliance, they are ALL in place to make sure that everyone knows what type of Guild/Alliance we all want, and they're there to make everyone's game play the most enjoyable it can be.

Consequences for Breaches of Alliance Guidelines of Expectations

In the event of any Alliance Member breaching the above guidelines, they will be warned in private of the breach, and that it has to stop, this will result in an active warning for a period of up to 30 days (dependent upon the seriousness of the breach). Any repeat offense during that period may result in the offender being removed from the Guild, or in the case of an Officer, losing their Officer status.

If you feel there are valid reasons for your breach, please refer them to your Guild Officers or Guild Leader, they will log your reasons (in private) on forums, and a decision will be made as to whether the reasons are valid.

In the event of an Alliance Member repeatedly offending resulting in their removal from the Alliance, they will also be banned from forums and Vent channel.

Summary

Please note that these guidelines are not a set of draconian rules, but have been put in place in an attempt to ensure that all Alliance members know what The Alliance expects, and that we can all get along without any drama. If any member requires clarification of any points detailed above, please contact one of the Alliance Council members either in game or here.
