Attack Sheep!

Dear Folk, Greetings from the Middle Lands. Although at the time of this writing I find myself in the Empire of Aht Urghan. I apologize for the delay in writing, I can just picture the frown of disappointment on your face Mom. Rest asured though that I'm hale and thiriving away from home. Believe me to when I say that I am definitely not in Tsahya anymore. I'm not entirely sure what to tell you about the people I've met on the middle lands so far. More or less they all seem quite... jaded I guess is an adequate term for it. Though they're also a spoiled bunch really. They have all sorts of ways to get around that don't envolve walking, or riding a chocobo. They have flying vessels they call Airships, my first ride on one was something else, everything from the bird's eye view is so tiny! Granted we'll probably never see such things back home, its such a small place after all. You never know however, after all even Elshimo Isle has one of these flying ships go to it. Going back to the people, it could just be the group I've hooked up with that gives me my initial impression of Middle Landers. Its a group called Tapestry, as a whole they don't seem to be that great of a group. Mostly a group of mercenaries who seem more like thugs to me most of the time. Oh well though, could just be the way of things here on the twin continents. The first gentleman, and that term would be used loosely in polite society is Hideo. Hideo has a last name, but I can hardly pronounce it so I will not attempt to spell it. He's a mercenary that's for sure, he takes a joy in the art of killing, but near as I can tell I think he only does as much because that's the tasks he's normally given. Its hard for me to get a read on the man but I think there's probably a spark of good somewhere in there. Course its probably drowned out by all the booze and lust the man stews himself in. The second night I met a large collection of characters, some of them good, some of them bad, some of them just ambiguous. There's a couple here worth note that I'm sure you would be interested in. I've met the honest to goodness chieftainess of Kazham, her name is Ashtari. She seems like a polite woman. Don't know that much about her otherwise. But she is the chieftainess. And no, before Ginny and Selfy ask you I have no idea if she's pretty or not. Oh! But speaking of pretty, I have met Chi Komimi. She's apparently one of three triplets, the other two being Chibine Komimi and Mimi Komimi. Seems like a lazy naming convention, but who knows maybe their Mother wasn't aware she was having triplets at the time. Chi seems calm reserved, though a bit angry and withdrawn lately. Chibine is straight-forward, Edwick would like her, a bit brash but you can tell her heart is in the right place. Mimi though is.. well.. Mimi is Mimi let's just put it like that. Siblings seems to be a big theme in this group cause I've met two Tarutaru that are related. Robin-Wobin-Tabin or some such and his sister Lilulu. Robin is a fellow student of Schultz' teaching like myself but beyond that I have no real impression of the man. Lilulu at first I thought was a sweet innocent little girl, but lately I think she's a maneater. Though, I think its fueled by a desire to find her knight to sweep her off her feet. More or less however she seems to be a good girl. Speaking of Knights, and Family still would bring me to Alard and Kaliet. sir Kaliet is an honest to goodness knight, and better yet one that keeps her nose clean. She's married to a man named Zylant who is also known as "Death's Grin", he used to be an assassin but turned over a new leaf. I guess the love of a good woman can set a bad man straight. He seems alright though. Alard who is Kaliet's cousin lived in the desert away from his own people for a while it seems, he has no real understanding of the outside world and has no idea about the truth of some things. It's quaint, but I worry that he'll get taken advantage of. Oh, also Kaliet and Zylant have a son named Kogenai, he calls himself a gentleman thief, but this gentleman has more women yowling after him than a fish cart has cats after it. Speaking of cats, I guess that brings me to Tsumi. She's not a mithra or anything, but the Empire apparently has the ability to fuse the soul of a person with that of a beast or beastman to give them the ability to use what they call "Blue Magic", apparently Tsumi's went haywire or something because she's sharing with a tiger or something now and sometimes it seems more like the tail is wagging the dog as it were. I found a whole heap of grief caused by her in San d'Oria and thankfully I had since the first time she encountered me, she was getting ready to put hands on me. I had to use that as a shield, but we worked things out after she ate. Let's see, who else? Ah there's Sulfig, he's a bit of a punk but I think he's a good guy. Shame really as it seems most of the people in this group treat him like crap and wouldn't expend a drop of urine to extinguish him were he on fire. I've been trying to treat him nicely too, though I did have to blackmail him also to stop being a git to everyone and causing fights. We seem to be getting on better now. Ah I have made a friend though, a man named Kelset. He also has the nickname of Slate, and has a real fascination with dirt, rocks, stone etcetera. He seemed normal besides the constant wanting to be covered in dust, but lately I think he has some kind of facination with entropy. Weird, but he seems a good egg so I don't pry. Though I want to. I'm not sure why but that made me think that all the girls who aren't bold, or soul-hybrids, are really mousey. Makes me think of two girls I've met named Gemini and Aedida. Gemini stutters over her own tounge forming most words, and Aedida just hardly forms them. They both strike me as the nice sort that would take the world by storm if they just got out of their shells. Unfortunately that's the normal bunch of the group. The rest of the people I've met, well.. read for yourself. First of there's Tema Windsong. She's a siren. She says that she's all nice and happy and trying not to be the soul eating variety, but then the next night she decides to sing pain to all the lads listening on that linkpearl. Course I can't remember the song now which means she's done something to correct her state. Still though one minute this gal is a rarab next minute, she's all piss and quills like a Cactaur. Still though, I'm giving her a chance as is our way. I still like to think that she won't disappoint. Although, having monsters around seems to be a theme in the linkshell, since we have a vampire also named Anaris. Also, he seems to be trying to be a good fella, but still damn creepy. We had a talk though that I think helped us to understand one another better. Still the wise shepherd knows to not make friends with the wolves. So that brings me to Drahcir/Kotaro and the Tryns. Apparently Drahcir was married to a Tryn.. and then.. something happened and Tryn lost her memory of him. Drahcir apparently had something in his brain tweak and suddenly we now have something called Kotaro which is like.. all the bad stuff that Drahcir feels made manifest or something.. No idea, both of them live in his head I guess. But, his wife.. or ex-wife.. Tryn apparently got her memory of the Tryn who was killed and now has two sets of memories in her head each trying to say which is the right one. I know, you can't make this stuff up. But maybe one of you can write a play about it? Good drama material I think. Anyhoo, Drachir seems to be wed to the "Stern Tryn" as I call her while Kotaro is all fluffy about the "Hopeful Tryn" yeah.. I know. Weird aye? Lets see the last person to write home about would be Anaris. He's a vampire. Yeah I know, I thought they were just myths we told the kids to get them to stop wandering off at night. I don't know what to make of this one, everything tells me that there's good in him, so does everyone else, but deep down I can't shake the feeling that something is really wrong. I hope I'm just paranoid. Though between all the freaky people in these parts, its no wonder I'm a bit uneasy about the ones who are openly monsters. Anyhow, I should wrap up this letter. I hope it reaches you all safely, and that you are all well. This moogle (which I should have probably mentioned before), will probably be kind enough to stay about until you have a reply ready. Trust that I miss you all and think of you most every day. Yet I fear that my time in the Middle Lands is just beginning. Stay Safe family. Yours, Tomas. |

There you go folks, Tomas first thoughts of people in the Middle Lands. If things seem vague they probably were meant to be, it was a letter to home after all. |

Interesting read, I knew he was a spy! Only thing I noticed was you had two entries for Anaris. |

(Always fun to see how others view the Komimi Sisters. ^^ though still no Gemini. I wonder if her presence is just that unnoticeable...) |
Avatar by Aedida!![]() Even if my weak former self gets in the way, I'll turn to face reality and vanquish all who oppose me! I'll keep searching for what nobody can see, For Love, with these two wings of Freedom and Solitude I'll keep chasing after it with the power I have I know someday I'll attain the dream, that transcends sadness! | |

Gemini is in there. Look under Kelset, and he talks about her and Aedida. |

Interesting style Caith. I enjoyed it. Just a note Ash is a Chieftainess of a Tribe that resides in Khazam not of Khazam itself. Jakoh is still the Khazam/Elshimo Chieftainess. |
