We have been told by Vortextreme that the council wish to section off a part of the beach in which we can fly. Im against this idea as it will exclude flying on the rest of the beaches. Also the council wish us to check on everyones insurance. This i dont want to do cos we have no authority to do so, and i cant be arsed. With these lone flyers who havent attended any meets putting their thoughts and fears on the forum. I might change my mind n agree with the council. My fears and concerns are do these lone flyers pose more of a risk to their own health and safety being on their own? Insured? Do they check everyone is safe trained and insured b4 they loan them kites? Yes - Good. No - Bugger Off you hypocrites. |

Each to their own
To be honest, until the council come and tell us what the council want from us (if anything) then i am not going to worry about it As for policing peoples insurance, I can't be that bothered either BUT we are going to have to set up club membership properly soon and it's gonna have to be exclusivley available to insured kiters so that whole situation will sort of police itself. |

Hang on everyone lets just wait and see. We know we will have to move in the holiday season anyway so lets just stay calm. The insurance aspect is another matter entirely and we will just have to wait and see what (if any)requirements the council request of ALL kite fliers, club members or not be it on the beach or inland. We are a group of adult individuals who take the welfare of the public and ourselves very seriously,we act in a responsible manner, and are curtious to all when we are out flying,This is the image that we need the council to recognise before they start to set standards for the kiteflyers in the area. |

Are the council actually saying they will ban kiting from the rest of the beach? or is that an assumption. How large a section are we talking about, buggies and boards need more space than static. Will it apply all year or just in the summer months? I think we need to get the whole story before we go panicking or turning into an angry mob! Chris and I spoke to two very nice men from the RNLI and a Women Police Officer on Sunday who were stood watching us all kite. They were singing the praises of the club and thought it was great to see the beach being used for a fun activity that involves all ages. The police lady also said that we were doing nothing wrong and had just as much right to be on the beach as anyone else. We do fly responsibly, it is only sensible to have insurance and a logical step for club membership to require this. |
