Hi All. Craig and I went out exploring today for a field to buggy or board on. We ended up finding the meadows in Meliden. Not a bad place to go when the beach is under water but the 25mph+ wind was a little gusty and Craig ended up on his arse sliding along for a while. (Funny to watch) Does anyone else know a good field to play on?? Cheers Nick |

We go down the meadows a fair bit for some flat land (Shame its not all flat, that would be awesome) instead of jumping around in cow & sheep dung. The next place I could say to use would be the morfers, its the playing field down tip lane in prestatyn, problem is theres trees all around the side & might get the kite tangled in them & its not as big as the meadows. the only other place I can think off is rhuddlan, if you head down past twt hill & carry on going there is some really big open fields there, but I do not know that farmer would think of boards & buggies on his land. The cow field by me is ok, buts is very bumpy & lumpy, do some fantastic bum surfing on it though, just opposite sea view cars. Steve the farmer is ok with a few of us using it, but does not want every one jumping around in his field. |

The way i used to go was go down the coast road to prestatyn and turn right at the ffrith pub carry on to the cross roads and go straight over as if you are going to meliden then there is a sharpish right bend that has a gate on it, if you parkup you can go over the gate into the fields, been a while since ive been on there though |

Its an easy place to get to & its on my door step. X marks the spot!! ![]() There is 2 ways that you can get there. 1st.. If you travel along the coast road from rhyl passing the lyons caravan camp, & as you come towards the ffrith pub, take a right where the pub & now you should be heading towards a bridge & start going uphill. you will come to a crossroads where there is a onestop shop, go straight ahead on the crossroads & 2-3mins down the road on the left hand side there is a big open field, where you will see some rugby posts, just pull up on the side & your there. 2nd Leaving rhyl go past sainsburys & take a left as you are heading towards Dyserth/Meliden. As you are in Meliden take the 3 exit where there will be a pub called "THE MINORS ARMS" & drive down the road where you will come to another pub called "THE RED LION" turn left & drive down that hil & as you start climbing a up look to your right & you will see the rugby posts. |

well there is that small problem of the beach occasionally having a bit too much water on it. |

What about the playing fields near Rhyl High School? Or is that not open to public use? That seems like a pretty good flat area and pretty biggish and i reckon that land will be great for buggying. Maybe asking the council if we can use that space or even ask them if THEY know anywhere ideal to go?? And... If it really comes down to it we should invest in rubber dinghy's and waterproof kites so that the beach ain't always a no go!! LOL |

Rhyl High School other field by the railway tracks would be better. The sand dunes between golf course and the Ffrith is ok bit bumpy. 9 hole course at barkby beach ok. The back field at towyn park is big open and not used much. Cant think of any more at the mo. |

What about the piece of land opposite wincups camp on the towyn road.I dont know who owns it but it is sometimes used as a spillover carpark for the car bootsales in the summer and there is no fence to speak of <_< .I reckon William Knightly will know who owns it cos he has a fair nearby. |
