Good to see you guys out enjoying yourselves, flying is so much fun...

I've however read a few things on here that concern me...

If your going to progress on to traction then please, please get some good tuition from the guys at turbulence Adam and Rob(Hills) will teach you everything you need to know in about an hour so that you can fly safely...

Please if you haven't already then get some insurance even if you static fly, the dog walkers and the sand castle brigade don't make the connection between what's in the sky and the cheese wire it's attached too!! It's only £15 a year from the BBC and covers you for every form of flying all round the world!!

We're very lucky here in Rhyl with no restrictions so please fly responsibly, look after the newbies and have fun....

Come over and say hello when we're down there you know where we are, between the suncentre and splash point we can usually be found, any problems give us a shout and we'll try to help if we can, have fun people...

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum

We do our best to look after each other, on club meets there are always at least 2 people not flying and keeping an eye on proceedings.

Very valid point about insurance. Please, if anyone does not have it, go get it, if I can help anyone with hosting piccys for the bkpa just let me know.

See you on the beach!
Chris

Its a good Idea if you get personal insurance if you are in an accident as well, break a few bones & stuff. As well as insured for kite flying, it also covers you for day to day things as well. If you fall over & sprain your ankle. I am with the C.I.C.A. & it costs me £18 a month & before you say anything, it covers you been drunk as well, no questions asked!! I do a lot more sports than kiting, so I thought it was a good idea to cover myself for work purposes.

If your intrested in taking it up. mail me & I'll give ou the number.

Andy can you give me the number of the BBC so I can get insurance for the numptys that walk beneath!! :P

Rhyl and Prestatyn have both been awarded blue flag beaches. During the season there are times and date restricting the usage sections of the beach (including all forms of extreme sports). Lucas Jones has also been to club meets. Have you Andy?

I didn't know it was compulsary!!!

Seriously though you seem to have missed my point, kiting is a dangerous sport with which you all seem in control of while static flying but when you get in a buggy it all changes and you can't learn how to do it on You Tube!!!

I don't want anyone to get hurt either flying or walking past, Denbighshire council aren't the most forthcoming and it wouldn't take long for them to close to the beach to us all like Gwynedd have done!!

This isn't a this is my beach get off thing we're all in this together, get out there and fly but do it safely so we can all do this sport we love!!

After the 1st accident of me eating a gob full of sand & really hurting myself I thought it was a good idea to take out some personal insurance. Lids & pads are a must with extreme kiting.. I know I look like the red power ranger when I am all suited up, looks cool tho when I am on the board. But if you have not got the "what if factor" & don't suit up your just stupid...

Hi All,

Insurance seems to be the hot topic at the moment.

The local beach facilities manager, Mark Bud, is keen for the kiting to increase on the beach but will be asking for proof of insurance very soon. He's looking at it in more depth in the coming summer season and is happy for us to continue enjoying the beach.

From a conversation with him recently I know that he will be blocking the use of kites from the sun centre to the west end of the beach as it has the blue flag certificate and they won't have this if there are people using kites on the beach.

He is however suggesting that we have a designated kite area marked out for static, buggy, board and kite surfing. They have the funds in place to mark out the area and this includes placing buoys in the sea for those amongst us who like the water side of the sport.

All in all the council want us to have fun and lots of it as long as it's safe, controlled and insured.
