Great story behind this Link!!! I bet some of you have read it, but for those of you who haven't...it will make you cry. Be warned, it's 61 chapters and you'll get sucked in. So make sure you have a good chunk of time to read. Seriously, it's great. |

I told Seven the Bartender that true love is felonious. "Not if they're over eighteen," he said, shutting the till of the cash register. By then the bar itself had become an appendage, a second torso holding up my first. "You take someone's breath away," I stressed. "You rob them of the ability to utter a single word." I tipped the neck of the empty liquor bottle toward him. "You steal a heart." He wiped up in front of me with a dishrag. "Any judge would toss that case out on it's ass." "You'd be surprised." Seven spreads the rag out on the brass bar to dry. "Sounds like a misdemeanor, if you ask me." I rested my cheek on the cool, damp wood. "No way," I said. Yeah I read that a few months ago. It actually took me a few weeks to read the whole story, not because I'm a slow reader but because I read the first couple of chapters and found out... well you know what so I read the last chapter to see how it ended and I decided not to read it so I wouldn't cry lol. Of course a few weeks later I did read it and I did cry lol. But it is a pretty good story. There use to be the same story (sametitle and everything) under a different author but I could't find it. Someone reviewed saying that it was plagerised and that the original author was antigone and, now, that story magically disapeared lol. |

That was amazing. I'd have to say it's one of my favorites now. |

Wow, I definitely remember lurking in the Outsiders section when it was that small and not too long after this was written, but I don't remember ever seeing or reading this. I just did; I'm glad I had a puppy in my bed to cuddle so I wouldn't cry.

The green faerie blinked. "What in the world are condoms?" "Defenders of virginity. The lead one is called 'Trojan Man'." "Wow. Like knights or something?" Wisp asked, innocently. ". . . . yes. Knights," Saba muttered, not quite sure how to explain it all to him. "How the heck am I supposed to hand out knights?" "Miniature knights. Made of rubber." ". . . I don't quite follow you." "Wisp? Why don't you go and find ToonQueen before something else does?" "Should I bring condoms with me?" "JUST GO!!!" ~excerpt from The Pirates' Cove In Neverland Interactive Story

I have heard really good things about this story, but I am just one of those people who cries enough in real life that I try not to subject myself to more sadness in fiction. I am sure it is great, though, considering the people who have recommended it to me. |

I was bawling buckets at the end of this story. Even tho I pretty much knew what was going to happen, I cried uncontrolably. |

Despite how everyone seems to be impressed by this story, I dunno, it's not really doing much for me. I'm not finding it too interesting. |

"I got my Mark Walhberg hat! I got my brothers! We're gonna go shoot some people up!" "I'm so upset, I was gonna commit suicide, but then I remembered we live on the first floor." Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. The Lorax

I wasn't able to get into it either. I found it very choppy from a technical standpoint, and I was really distracted by the punctuation and grammar when I read. I suspect there was no beta reader, which isn't uncommon, especially for a story that was written so long ago. Some of the chapters are ridiculously short, and I'm sort of clueless why everyone sees all this emotion in it, because it seems kind of melodramatic in spots to the extent that I almost found it funny. It'd be interesting to see the author come back to it and rewrite it. I have a feeling it would be a much stronger story since the author will have grown a lot the last seven years. |

I'd love to see a rewrite of it. I found it sad, but then, I cry at almost anything. I love old fanfics, some are crap, and some are good. And I guess at that time, that was one of the few "good" ones. That fic actually reminded me of a recent fanfic, it's cancer centered, but it's about Soda. Which i could remember the title... |

I think it's called...erm...The Space Between, maybe? I'm not quite sure. Anyway, I liked this story. I mean, it was long, but I didn't really get bored or anything. I cried really hard. But, at the same time, anything involving the military or cancer tends to make me cry. -shrugs- I thought it was a lot better than most of the stories on ff.net. Quotes to Live By: Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that ass upside the head. He who stands on a windowsill to see how far out he can lean without falling is a moron. If you wish on a falling star it might come true... Unless it's a meteor hurdling to earth... Yes, that's what it's called. I forgot. I thought it was good-well written and good for when it was written. |

I read this 2 summers ago and I remember it had me seriously depressed for at least a week *after* I read it. I couldn't get all the way through it at once. I had to stop reading it for a few weeks because it was just too upsetting. There were times when I would start getting welled up THINKING about the story during class. lol, I'm so overdramatic. Ugh, cancer sucks. At first the grammar and choppiness kind of put me off too, but once I got into the meat of the story I kind of forgot about it. I remember I was listening to the song Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap a lot while I was reading it and to this day I find that song more poignant than it really is. |

Same here. But I kept in mind that it was from 2002. Even though it was choppy, it put really clear images into my head and every once in a while there would be a line I found particularly evocative that would make me teary. Even though it was a tad cheesy, when Ponyboy goes "I'm not gonna grow up" or something similar, I was like "ohnuuuu Ponyyyyy." The parts I liked best were actually the Steve parts. I try not to read too many things about illness because I find depressing (duh), but I liked that he was anger-based because I feel like anger and blame are seldom covered by writers for this kind of thing. Mind you, I don't do well with tearjerkers anyways since I can be pretty emotional. I can't watch people cry because it makes me teary too, both in real life and movies. I'm also paranoid that I'm going to get cancer because I know it runs in my family on both sides :'( Edited by Celestra, Jun 17 2009, 08:50 PM.

I felt it was excellent... and that the author did a fantastic job. Had all the elements of what really happens to a cancer victim, their struggles and emotions, plus what the family goes through. And yeah, I bawled like a baby for a week if not more. But, I am partial to Ponyboy's character. Calla |
