Dawantonka, Osage Republic
Walter E. Revard sat at the desk in his study and looked out over the city just as morning began to light the streets and buildings. He closed his book and lay it on a growing stack of unfinished ones that was steadily growing taller. He stood and walked to the exit. The Porcuians would be arriving today. He went to his room in the Dsewathethezhudse and prepared himself alone. He clothed his tall, lithe frame with a simple suit, a red-broached bolo tie, and dark overcoat. He and a small entourage of body guards and diplomatic personnel finally made their way to the motorcade that would take them to the airport. The group walked to the tarmac and brought along the traditional gifts presented to new diplomats. Revard stood a little ways in front of the group and tugged his collar closer to his face to shield it from the wind. He smiled to himself as he though of the coincidence of a cold northern wind accompanying the arrival of men from a cold northern country. He could only hope that they would not be as cold as the weather.

The Osage didn't have to wait long. Revard spotted the Porcuian plane as it came out of the eastern sky. It touched down without much fanfare and Revard's retinue prepared to receive their guests.

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

Leading the sparse Porcuian delegation was Publius Vibius Pansa, Chairman of the Communist Party of Porcu. That said, internal political divisions within the Republican camp meant very little in the context of a Civil War which had ruptured the Republic and spilled blood the world over. Nonetheless, when overtures were made by the Osage for a partnership and cooperation the Porcuians were unified in their opinion that a representative should mirror their ideology as closely as possible. There was no doubt that Vibius Pansa was not the perfect or ideal communist - the Porcuian party was widely considered revisionist by revolutionary movements throughout the world - but he was the best that the Republic could do.

Yet, the outbreak of war had shaken the now middle-aged politician. He was among the many that had not foreseen the fascist, reactionary coup. Perhaps it was true that a new course needed to be set, that the Republic was now faced with a choice.

A decision that could wait.

Vibius Pansa, afforded full imperium by what was left of the Consilium, stepped out of plane and descended quickly to greet his hosts. Only a handful of assistants followed in tow. The air was cool but pleasant to the Porcuians. The Porcuian was dressed splendidly, his suit fit perfectly and everything from his shoes to his hair was clean and modern. With an outstretched hand and a wide smile, Vibius Pansa warmly greeted Revard and the other Osage gathered out on the tarmac.

"Salve! I am Publius Vibius Pansa and I am most honored to make your acquaintance."

Revard smiled and shook hands with Chairman Pansa. "Howe, I am Chairman Walter Revard. Welcome to Dawantonka. I trust you had a pleasent flight?" Revard's assistants presented tobacco and sage to Pansa's party, and Revard himself gave him a red and yellow striped hachine. He extended an arm towards the airport. The two groups came together and walked into the airport.

As they walked through the building they got a few strange or surprised looks from passersbys, but otherwise encountered nothing unusual as they came back the motorcade. Revard took a seat across from Pansa. He described various sites and monuments and their significance as they passed by. Eventually his somewhat jovial tone changed to something more serious.

"How goes the war?" the change was somewhat abrupt. "I understand that the Republic has been having a rough go against the Nationalists. Surely there are plans being laid for a counter attack?" Revard also pulled a manila folder out of his briefcase. Out of it he pulled the photos taken of Nationalist forces in their various positions in North America. "We've been conducting surveillance across the continent. All of the intelligence we've gathered is open to you and the Republic."

"Yes, definitely." Vibius Pansa replied to Chairman Revard's questions. "The work of our international partners and allies had been indispensable at containing and forcing back the fascists. This has allowed us to focus on potential offensives. A major operation to recapture Mons Calpe will begin in earnest soon, while forces are being assembled to recapture Araucanía from the Nationalists."

The Porcuian sighed, "It certainly has been difficult, but we are determined to emerge triumphant. Any and all intelligence your government can provide is most welcome and at such a time it is feasible I will see to it that the Osage Republic is repaid for its assistance. Tell me, are you able to help in an additional capacity? Please forgive my frankness, but is the Osage able to join the war against the Nationalists?"
