((Howe! My name's Wazhazhe. I'm an Osage Indian from Oklahoma and a Marxist-Leninist. I use he/him pronouns and I'm active in the indigenous activist community. I'm excited to start roleplaying with all of you! Without much further ado, here's my nation, the Republic of Wazhazhe))

Wazhazhe Nikashi - the Osage Republic

The Osage Republic as a political entity began with the Second American Revolution, and the subsequent American Civil War of 1917. It was one the original 58 Socialist Republics to declare its independence from the United States and, with the discovery of oil on Osage controlled territory, became one of the most heavily disputed areas of the war. Despite it's small initial population, it was heavily supported by both the stronger settler and indigenous Socialist Republics.

The Osage were instrumental during the Battle of Saint Louis, one of the most decisive of the war. Leading the First Dhegiha Mounted Rifles, General James Inshtadoho was able to maneuver around the Federal forces garrisoned within the city and cut off their supplies while other Red Army units assaulted them in earnest. This victory finally split the Federal forces in two, and united the Northeast-Midwest and Southwest fronts.

Post-war, the Osages had much work to do: much of their territory was devastated, most of the young Republic's population did not speak its language, and its supposed capital was the site of one of the largest battles of the war. Furthermore, despite the oil and other mineral resources found on their lands, the Republic's economy was growing much slower than projected. Despite this, the Osage republic was able to meet the quotas and progress of the first of the Union's 2 Five-Year-Plans. Furthermore the extensive language and cultural reforms proposed by the Central Committee Chairman and Russian exile Vladimir Lenin expedited the assimilation of many Europeans into the Osage culture. Despite this, the majority still only spoke English, especially in the more rural and mountainous areas of the Ozarks.

Throughout the 1930's the Osage Republic, as well as the rest of the Union republics, was subject to much political infighting. After Lenin's death, the Communist party splintered due the lack of central leadership. While the divide never came to violence, it did hamper the politics and development of the Union and its constituent republics. This political fighting also did little to help fight off the Japanese invasion of the Pacific Republics and Alaska, which dragged the Union into the Second World War.

The Japanese invasion came in the middle of an extended political struggle between William Z. Foster and Earl Browder, both of which held the Chairman's position at various times. While the Union was able to defend the mainland, it was unable to take an offensive position until Foster assumed the Chairman's position for the second time after a scandal involving Browder forced him to leave political life. After this, Union forces were able to chase the Japanese across the pacific and eventually invade the Honshu along with the Russian Republic and the other allied nations. Union forces also helped liberate Europe, but too a much smaller extent. During this period, the Osage Republic was one of the largest suppliers of oil and processed fuel, not only for the USR, but for many of the Allies as well.

After World War II, the world was a very different place. The Union of Socialist Republics emerged stronger after the war than before it. This success was not unrivaled however, as the Russian Republic, too, came out of the war much more powerful. These two nations would become bitter rivals, and while this rivalry never lead to all-out war, it did lead to a period of fierce competition called the Cold War. This period also led to a period of gradual liberalization of Union politics, with many of the old Bolsheviks and Communist hardliners being swept aside by younger and more liberal politicians.

The Cold War ended with the collapse of the USR, with many other communist nations following. Entering the modern era, the Osage Republic faced many problems. The collapse of the Union meant the collapse of the oil market and the Osage Republics chief source of income. The majority of its population still speaks English, and tensions are high between the two populations. In 20XX the Osage Republic took protection of its sister nation the Republic of the Kaw, but this was the first good news out of the Republic in nearly a decade.

In 20XX, XX years after the collapse of the USR, communism has again sprung in the Americas. The 20XX election crises saw Walter E. Revard of the Osage Communist Party take control of the Republic from the Liberal Geoffery Red Corn after the nation could not elect a president. In an immediate plebiscite, the Osage people voted overwhelmingly to establish a new Marxist Leninist state under Revard, with the Kaw Protectorate soon following.

What this means for the future is unclear, but, for now, only time will tell if the Osage Republic will stand as a vestige of a dead ideology, or a spark that will inevitably spread across the new world.

((Thanks for reading! I'm hoping to write more in this thread about the government of the Republic in the future, but for now I suppose I've made you read enough!))

Welcome to NSWR, Wahzhazhe! Interesting (and good!) to see another ML here.

Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions on our history and past RPs, and how we operate. Feel free to jump into a RP that's already started, or start one of your own. Looking forward to RPing with you!

Yes, yes Welcome!

I think Communist Native Americans is a unique idea for our community. Certainly I can see the appeal it would bring given that communal living and such was already a cultural norm.

The Republic is going through some changes (kinda sterilizes the «civil war» )...

Don't let that stop you from creating an RP or jumping in, if you want. You can also PM (personal message) me if you want to discuss future directions and set up a RP off of that.

Meant to say this before I replied to your initial post that the Russians aren't receptives to Communists.

However, the Federation of United African Nations would certainly give relations a warmer attitude. The current ruling party is based on their own brand of African Socialism. Plus I imagine the Africans could have similar attitudes that Native Americans would have in terms of Imperialism and the perils of the "white man."

OOC: That's fine, I think a lot of good story telling can come from people who are ideologically opposed. Regardless, I'll start a thread soon for diplomacy with the FUAN soon!
