With the collapse of the Norman Kingdoms, the mounting Irish rebellion lost its reason for existence. Several Gaelic kingdoms came into existence over the months that followed, with petty kings carving out realms of both those willing to follow and that which they had the power to take. The Normans still hold power in Leinster and much of Meath and Ulster, most organizing under a self-declared King of Ireland, who had ruled from Dublin until recently. Dublin, however, cast him out, declaring its independence and democratic rule in the city. Belfast soon followed. Many Norman barons have sworn fealty to no one, taking advantage of the chaos rob anyone they can.

In Inishowen, a certain figure has returned from wars in Macedonia and Asia, the Roman Empire having collapsed as well due to too many rebellions and too much intrigue. The compounds of the old Brotherhood once again come to life as he solidifies his rule over Inishowen from the Grianán Ailigh, rebuilding the fortress as a bulwark against any who would threaten him. The banner of the Red Lion flies from its walls, in direct defiance to all other kings.

The Grandmaster has returned for his throne. All factions will burn.

List of Factions in Ireland

Knightly Orders

1. The Order of the Red Lion
Leader: The Grandmaster
Controls: Inishowen (in Donegal)
Capital: Grianán Ailigh
Religion: Celtic Christianity

Rumored to be the very same person who founded the Order, the former High King Stiofán Ó Siadhail, the Grandmaster will stop at nothing to bring all of Ireland under his control. The rumors have caused many to flock to the support of the Order, while its detractors tend to support one of the various other factions, with most Gaelic support going to one of the Ó Néills. The Order has the most heavily armored infantry and cavalry in the world, which along with some of the best training available and seasoned veterans of multiple wars among their ranks has earned them a reputation which causes fear among their enemies. Only the best of the best should even consider going one on one with one of their knights, and the most elite teams must be assembled if one plans to strike against them. Only a tactician with the right combination forces and familiarity with the Order's strengths and weaknesses should attempt to engage them in larger battles. The Order has been defeated before, but only at great cost to the aggressors. The Normans only took the great fortress Grianán Ailigh after it was stripped of all technology and abandoned by the Order. It is rumored the Grandmaster retook it alone.

Gaels

2. The Kingdom of Meath
Leader: Rí ruirech Sechnall Ó Néill
Controls: Meath, Westmeath
Capital: Tara
Religion: Celtic Christianity

Vassals:

2A. The County of Westmeath
Leader: Ruiri Aonghus Mac Eochagáin

As descendants of Niall Noigiallach like the Ó Néills and the Ó Siadhails, with both the Red Hand and the Red Lion on their shield, Clan Mac Eochagáin must be taken seriously as potential High Kings. It would be a simple thing for Ruiri Aonghus to declare independence from his Ó Néill overlord, but taking the great fortress of Tara is a task so great that he is biding his time before he makes his move. Aonghus only came to Ireland recently after inheriting Westmeath's overkingship from his father. It is rumored he fought under the banner of a powerful nation that no longer exists. He has in his possession a mighty hammer that is rightly feared on the battlefield.
