BBC NEWS:
Plac-Millaes A large crowd emerged in front of the Officer's Square in downtown Plac-Millaes. A large cohort of both Rabiha supporters and opponents had come out in front of the Grand Palace as the leader of the nation emerged Wednesday morning. During his speech, Rabiha announced a revolutionary change in Gaedic history: the full secularization of the nation. In Gaed's history, despite constant approval polls remaining above 70%, conservative Muslim leaders have vetoed calls to fully secularize the nation. Previously, the "Gaedic Caliphate Unified" was merely a symbolic "religious" state, with a "Caliph" leading in a similarly symbolic role.

Rabiha, in his speech, passed a draft of the Constitution that had been in legal limbo ever since Galib Kabir had taken office a decade ago. The newer constitution, which failed to pass under the previously conservative congress, will completely remove the Islamic religion from playing a primary role in government. This "Separation of Mosque and State" would be significant of a new age to come.

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

The Parliament and People of Porcu applaud the Gaedic Republic for its shift away from religious influences on the levers of government power and towards a more just and equitable State. The Republic is hopeful that additional, similar shifts will be taken in the future.

Official Statement
Federation of United African Nations
The Federation echoes the sentiments made by our ally, the Republic of Porcu. The separation of the apparatus of Church from that of the apparatus of state is paramount to a free and more enlightened society. The administration and people of the Federation hope that this is a sign of encouraged and endorsed change for the Gaedic people. We shall continue to monitor this and hope that the Gaedic leadership continues this progressive trend as it would only go to improve regional stability as well as improve relations between the Federation and the Gaedic state.
