President Joshua Fuhrmann today signed into law Bill 518, which makes fracking illegal and makes 85% of government facilities run on solar power, while the remaining 15% continue to run on wind and wave power. The law was signed in keeping with the Germanic Republic of Austria's dedication to environmental protection. In addition to the law, he signed Bill 519, which designates every July 3rd as the day where all motor vehicles are banned from the road in every part of the country, which he says would enable people to get up and walk, ride bikes, or take public transport (which run on electricity) for the purpose of cutting emissions from vehicles on the road. Similarly, last Friday, in keeping with his policies of environmental protection, he signed into law Bill 515 which bans the usage of pesticides in the Germanic Republic of Austria, while also banning the trade of all fruits and vegetables that are grown and have been sprayed with pesticides. The bill also bans the usage of anti-biotics in livestock feed. In other news, today, the fifteenth annual Germanischen Wien bike race took place with some 50,000 riders participating. Harold Schulz from District 13 of Germanischen Wien came in first place with a time of 2 hours and 49 minutes. An estimated 230,000 people came out to watch the race on the bleachers set up by the city of Germanischen Wien for the purpose of this event. The money raised will go towards a charity organization looking for a cure for cancer. The Germanic Republic of Austria's parliament is currently in the midst of rewriting a clause to the State Constitution which would enact a policy of military neutrality for the nation considering their rather moderate military expenditure. The clause would maintain the current military size and equipment, while emphasising a greater focus on defense. Considering the lack of regional enemies, the move is expected to be applauded by the citizens of the Germanic Republic of Austria. Under the presidency of former presidency, Klaas Siegman, a member of the Germanic People’s Party, the centre-right conservative Christian democratic political party who was elected as the fifth Germanic People's Party president in the nations history headed the country for one term of four years. Under his administration he favored businesses, cutting the tax rate for all citizens, decreasing the welfare system and promoting fiscal conservatism. Considering the Germanic Republic of Austria's liberal nature and belief in an equal society, he was obviously very unpopular with many Germanic Austrians. When offered to run for a second term, he turned it down due to the numerous struggles he had faced in trying to pass laws, and thus made way for the Democratic-Liberal candidate, Joshua Fuhrmann to take his spot as the next president of the Germanic Republic of Austria. President Fuhrmann had an almost expected victory over Germanic People's Party candidate Damian Von Dodder, who was the Vice President of President Klaas Siegman. President Siegman's policies caused the near tanking of the Germanic Austrian economy. A favor in businesses led to a lowering of the tax rate, enforcing of policies to encourage a greater free market, and an increase in the trade deficit and amount of wasted funds. Poor business dealings which favored the rich rather than every citizen and encouraged the greater amount of imports than exports led to the stiffling of the economy and eventually the burst it was expected to have after four years of harmful economic policies that decreased social welfare, healthcare, and education. The cost of the Austrian Euro dropped tremendously and the unemployment rate increased to a rather shocking 11.13%, greater than any other time in the nations history. President Fuhrmann took advantage of this situation. Running his campaign with a focus on every citizen, growing the economy, supporting social welfare, healthcare, education, lowering the trade deficit and the unemployment rate. On Thursday, May 11th, President Fuhrmann travelled to The Germanic Austrian Parliament to deliver a speech requesting the full support and participation of members of parliament in pursuit of policies aimed at helping to return the once powerhouse economy of the Germanic Republic of Austria to normal after four years of hardship under the very unpopular Presidency of Klaas Siegman. President Fuhrmann delivered his speech at 12:00 PM. President Fuhrmann: "We are a great nation. We value freedom, equality, and the promotion of a strong, healthy, and prosperous population. The values of this nation have not changed. Throughout history, Germanic Austrians have stood for the values of inclusiveness, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression. We are a free people, and for that, I am, and every citizen of this nation should be thankful. Certainly, there were dark times, there always are, in every country, but they never came to define us. In many ways, the current condition of our economy will count as dark times or at least troubling times. Unemployment is up to 11.13%, our economy is struggling, the trade deficit is staggeringly high, our imports are greater than our exports, and local businesses are suffering. I don't like to place blame, but in some situations it is necessary. This is on of those situations. Under the previous administration, a greater focus was given towards businesses, while that is certainly a noble act to support the people of this nation and their way of life, it is certainly not inclusive to every citizen, and that to me is troubling. Under the old policies of the previous administration, it wasn't the common business owner who benefitted, but rather the CEO, the President of a company, or the owners of an organization. The wealthy. The top 1% of this nation that are unaffected in devastating ways by a shrinking economy and who don't face the everyday struggles of the average citizen. Our founding principles are based on the promotion of equality, and the fair treatment of all citizens. By increasing the profits of an organization or company we are not keeping within the values of this great country—it is at that point that we should just fail, because then and only then, is your nation truly lost. I stand in the way of that happening. I am here to defend the citizen, to represent you, to be the voice of continued prosperity. The way to save our great country from possible destruction is through promoting economic stimulus. We are currently in a recession, and the way to reverse the possibly devastating effects it can have is to get behind newer policies of economic stimulation. We cannot let our economy tank. I won't let that happen. I am pleading with you, the members of parliament to stand behind me in enacting a comprehensive government stimulus package that will work to rebuild our economy and our industries. The policies I am currently aiming to enact will serve to lower our trade deficit, increase the size of our economy, and stimulate business plans to help make it easier for investors to strengthen our economic growth. My policies are only going to grow and support our current standards, values and our failing economy. In order to support a welfare state where every citizen benefits from the socialized welfare program, high taxes are the answer. To live in a society where the roads are paved and well maintained, where healthcare is socialized and free for all citizens, where the infrastructure is strong and where you government works to the highest level of productivity, high taxes are the answer. As part of the first steps towards growing our economy, we will have to increase the monetary funds of our government. Increasing taxes are the only way we can benefit as citizens from our government If you live in a society and benefit from liberal policies of free healthcare, free education, low crime rates, a clean environment, then you must pay high taxes. That's nonnegotiable. We are who we are because of our historical high tax rates. But before we can go about increasing tax rates, we must lower them first to allow for businesses to grow and help invest in our economy. We are who we are as a government through being transparent with our decisions. Government transparency is the most ethical of ways to approach the issues of the modern day and to allow the citizens to view the importance of their vote. By allowing citizens the ability to see what we are doing with tax money we are only increasing the necessary trust for a productive running of any form of government. We are who we are because we care for the very lives of every citizen. The policies I am enforcing are not going to hurt anyone; they are not going to punish the top 1% of this nation either. To me that'd be the worst thing I can ever do, my father-in-law, Bruno Fritzl, is the CEO of Dokumentierte Medizinische Gruppe, do you know how awkward it would be to sit across from him at family functions? In all seriousness ladies and gentlemen, it is my duty, my inner calling to service the people, to increase the standard of living, the happiness, and to act in a way that benefits the citizens of this great nation. Members of parliament I am calling on you, to act in accordance with your duties as the officials the great citizens of this country elected to represent them. Vote in favor and support my policies of economic stimulus; save this economy and protect the people of this country. It is not only for the benefit of the state but for the greater benefit of the citizen that we implement policies that are smart and most of all supportive of the values we hold dearest to us as the Germanic Republic of Austria. Thank you." President Fuhrmann's speech was his pleading to parliament for their support in enacting policies of economic stimulus to help strengthen the economy. Considering the majority of parliament is held by the Democratic-Liberal Party, he shouldn't see too much resistance, if there is any at all. Of the 68 seats in parliament, with four Parliamentary Representatives from each state, a total of 50 are held by the Democratic-Liberal Party. The Germanic People's Party holds 10. The Green Party holds 2, the Alpine Conservation Party holds 1, the Independent Party holds 1, the Chamber Conservative Party holds 3, and the Free Nationalist Party holds 1. The Communist Party of Germanic Austria as of the election of 2016 doesn't hold a seat in parliament with no states voting in favor of a Communist Party candidate. Hopefully with the massive control of parliament, the policies to stimulate economic growth will pass swiftly and get our nation back on a track of success and regional power.
