Bells tolled among the Mosques and administrative buildings of Gaed. The cacophonous drumming of the soft bells erratically buzzed through the streets of the capital city, Plac-Millaes. Plac-Millaes was, in the eyes of many, seen as the "Paris" of the Middle East. Previously known as Cairo, the city was often remembered for it's frequent plays from across the region: Ethiopia, UAE, and even performers from Europe. However, the bells had not been playing for purposes of public entertainment. The bells solemnly sounded the beginning of voting in the general elections for Gaed. The bells had been a tradition since 1952, as a result of the independence, in which all Mosques ran bells for a period of 3 weeks to celebrate independence.

The election had been atypical from the beginning. The left-leaning Seculier party had nominated Galib Kabir as the Prime Minister, a term Galib had been serving for 4 years since 2013. However, a new, more sinister opposition had arrived. From the far-right GNP (Gaedic Nationalist Party) had come the possible candidacy of Waraqatan Rabiha. Rabiha had been prominently elected as a result of his vicious temper and politically incorrect rhetoric, calling Jewish and Christian refugees "criminals", and planning the deportation of Jews from the Sinai. Furthermore, he had been a key opponent of Prime Minister Kabir's future Middle East Economic Initiative (MEEI) trade agreement which would have opened up the entire Suez Canal to signors of the contract. In fact, Rabiha had called for an end to all free trade agreements in the possible future, so as to focus on "grave issues".

"Grave issues" in the eyes of Rabiha refers to the following:
- The mass deportation of Jewish refugees
- A blanket ban on Shia Muslim immigration
- Enhanced border security
- The reacquisition of New Egypt
- The ending of foreign relations with the UAE, Greater Cape, Porcu for their "hostility to Gaedic interests"
- The end of Abortion rights for women
- The reinstitution of electrotherapy for homosexuals (banned in 1978 under a Fatwa)
- The full institution of Sharia Law (outlawed outside of government instances in 1988)
- The return of gun protection laws
- The destruction of minimum wage

It would only be a matter of time before the nation decides whether to elect Galib Kabir of the Seculier party, or Waraqatan Rabiha of the GNP.
