His yacht had pulled into the harbor of Ariminae in the Republic of Porcu, on board was Hamed Alsaeed the Crown Prince of Assad Emirate and the son of the president of the U.A.E, Mujahid Ali Alsaeed. He was planning to attend a seminar mathematics, mechanical engineering (his major at his current university) and nuclear physics (his minor). He stepped off onto the deck of his yacht- in reality it belonged to his father- the cold air struck his face and the smell of the ocean filled his nostrils. The evening sky was a semi blueish color with stars just appearing on the horizon. With that he dressed himself in his most casual of clothing and stepped off onto his speedboat which would take him to the shore. Once there he was picked up by a limo which then drove him to the lecture hall at the university the seminar was to be held at. He entered, immediately struck by the intensity of the Porcuian students who were all highly educated in their fields. He had learned Porcuian Greek in high school and so found communication to be the least of his problems. Pulling out his notebook and grabbing a bottle of water, he sat down. It was just about then that the event began. The event was being lead by top nuclear physicist, mathematicians and mechanical engineers who taught at the university level in Porcu. Amongst them was girl who's face Hamed was not familiar with, the other's he had seen or read about in his classes at Royal Sharyan University of Friendship for International Relations and Studies Institute where he was majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in nuclear physics. After hearing them introduce themselves, the girl stood up and began speaking to which the crowd erupted into cheering. In Porcuian Greek the girl introduced herself and started off the seminar, "Most of you probably know me, I am princess Cornelia Decima, as you might already know I praise and support higher education in Porcu and in Europe. With that, I was elated to have been selected to assist in running the seminar here at the University of Porcu. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 5th annual Engineering, Mathematics and Physics Seminar of Porcu". The crowd cheered before Dr. William Menagias stepped up to the podium to address the newest findings in the world of nuclear physics. Towards the end of the three hour seminar, the three top students from the crowd had been called upon to speak. Hamed knew he was to be picked and so readied himself and the speech he had prepared to give. After two Porcuian mechanical engineers stood up and spoke they received a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation for having attended the very prestigious seminar in Porcu and possibly in the world. With that, his name was called out and Hamed stepped forward towards the podium to give his speech and accept his reward. "Hello to you all, I am prince Hamed Alsaeed of the U.A.E, I have studied the world of mechanical engineering and nuclear physics since high school to which I have performed at the top of my class since my junior year. I am currently enrolled at The Amirati University of Engineering, Architecture and Sciences where I am majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in nuclear physics. I was excited to have been invited here after such a long and extremely stressful application process", the crowd laughed at his slight joke. "So with that I want to end this off with thanking all of you for having contributed to this such important world in the sciences and mathematics I would also like to thank the professors who had accepted me into the program. I hope to work closely in the years to come in regards to this such important field to our modern lives. Thank you". The crowd cheered and Hamed walked off to the side to shake Dr. Menagias' hand as he put the medal around his neck and placed a certificate encased in a frame into his hands. Hamed towered visibly at 6'4 over the 5'10 Dr. Menagias. They stopped and posed for a picture before he joined the two other students at the side for further praise and pictures. At the end, Hamed strolled over to the girl who had spoken earlier when opening the seminar. "Hey," she smiled back and replied "Hello, you are from the U.A.E?" "Yes, my father is the president there. I was just wondering though if you were free later tonite, I just think we should hang out". Cornelia smiled and said "You are much too young for me, I don't know how that would look to the public eye". "Don't worry about that, my limo is outside. You should join me I have dinner being cooked up on the yacht and a few students that I already know from here will be coming over. Have you seen Pulp Fiction?". Cornelia who was near to being convinced answered back "No, I haven't but I hear it is great movie". Hamed who was now smiling answered "Well then, you should come over and see it with us. It'll be fun, we can get to know each other". Cornelia who was closing her laptop and notebook looked up to the much taller Hamed and said "Okay, let me just gather my stuff and I'll meet you outside". Hamed feeling excited nodded his head, smiled and waited for her to finish packing up her belongings, afterward he accompanied her on their walk to the limo. After leading her inside she questioned his reasoning for his actions. "Why did you ask me to join you?" Hamed who was strapping on his seatbelt and sitting across from Cornelia replied "Well, to be honest, I thought you were really pretty and I just wanted to get to know you further and thought why not in a friendly way invite you over to dinner with me and some of my friends". Cornelia was smiling as well, it was without a doubt that being in the presence of such a man with charm that she was easy to take interest in him. His boldness intrigued her further and helped contribute to her swift decision to join him. Being very attractive himself, Hamed found no trouble in luring in girls, but this one was different. After dinner with six other students three of which were girls, they retreated to the den to watch Pulp Fiction on the massive flat screen TV. When everyone left Hamed was quick to shoot another enticing question at Cornelia. "So did you have fun?", almost immediately she responded back with a huge smile and with excitement in her voice said "Yes, yes I did" Hamed who was surprised at the answer said "I think we should do this again sometime, it would be fun", "Oh yes, definitely. You're a really nice guy, I didn't think I would have this much fun with someone younger than me". Cornelia you see was a girl who was constantly helping with family matters and attending education seminars as a representative of her cultural monarchy family. Hamed was 18 and Cornelia was 27 it was sort of a forbidden love by society standards. Especially in a society that was quick to expect the opposite in regards to age and relationships. So long as Cornelia and Hamed didn't mind they continued seeing each other through a long distance relationship, and though they lived far apart they had grown somewhat extremely close, sharing personal information from each other's daily lives. After nearly two months of seeing each other Hamed had planned something so lavish for a dowry, which was custom in his society, to ask for Cornelia's hand in marriage. He had given her brother King Decimus Maxentius IX a 10 million Alijadin payment for his blessings to go through with the proposal. He then showered Cornelia with gifts of astronomical amounts just for her and nobody else, four Arabian horses totaling 80,000 Alijadins, 2 Ferrari LaFerrari's one red and one yellow costing 2.8 million Alijadins, and an ultra modern mansion off the coast of the Greek region of the Roman Empire for 21.1 million Alijadins as a halfway point for the two of them being it sat right smack in the Mediterranean Sea in between Porcu and the U.A.E. Cornelia was surprised by the gifts and was to definitely be taken aback by his attempt to ask for her permission to go through with a wedding. Edited by U.A.E, Jan 25 2018, 08:56 PM.

Posted Image King Marcus Decimus Maxentius IX was not a fool. It was plain for anyone to see that a serious proposition was going to be forwarded this evening. Gathered in the Royal's official residence were the Queen Dowager Aglaea Helvia, Prince Oppius Decimus Maxentius, and the King himself. The Amirati Crown Prince Hamed Alsaeed had requested an audience with these members of the Porcuian royal family. He was expected at any moment. The rather large room where they waited sat adjacent to the main library of the historic and grandiose palace. The Porcuians were opposite to a large fireplace, which housed a warming, pleasant fire, and were conversing lightly among themselves. The plush chairs were welcoming and made the wait much more tolerable. One of the palace servants suddenly came around and entered, announcing that the Amirati Prince had arrived and was being escorted over. The three Porcuians stood in preparation to receive their guest and each took a second to adjust their hair or their clothing. The timely drumming of boots echoed through the hall and into the room, announcing the arrival of Prince Hamed. Two Royal Guards stopped and stood just outside the door, while two more entered, bowed, and saluted their King before standing at attention. The Amirati prince walked into the room a couple of seconds later and took a long, full bow. King Marcus Decimus Maxentius IX acknowledged the young Prince with a short bow of his head, finally dismissing the guards. "Please, sit." the King said once the room had been cleared and the door shut. The crackles of the fire filled the temporary silence that followed as each made themselves comfortable. Three on one side, a single individual on the other. Hamed took a deep breath before speaking in rather clean Porcuian Greek. "I want to thank you for seeing me this evening. I..." Hamed paused as he thought of the best way possible to ask what was on his mind and in his heart. "I...come to ask for your blessing. I want to ask Cornelia Decima for her hand in marriage." Done. Simple and straightforward. Hamed then continued and outlined the lavish bride price he had put together for the Porcuian Royal House and for Cornelia Decima herself. The cost and luxury of the items for Cornelia Decima specifically was stunning, while the monetary advance to the King, the Princess' older brother, was incredible. But it wasn't accepted with open arms. The King furrowed his brows at the mention of the 10 million Alijadins, which to him was interpreted as an outright purchase for his sister's hand rather than a humble request for his blessings. "We are not in need of your charity, Prince Hamed." Before the young Crown Prince could reply, the usually beaming and jovial Aglaea Helvia added, "I am concerned that you do not know full well what it is you are proposing. Add to that the fact that you have known my daughter for only a brief period of time..." Oppius Decimus, on the other hand, remained silent. |

"Culturally we are different, I can understand how it might be viewed as a 'purchase' but I want to clarify that it is not. You see the point of the dowry is to show great respect and admiration of the family of the bride. Also, the money or payment was used in the olden days to assist in the helping of the family or the bride in times of need for her personal upkeep and to be used whenever and however she wished. I don't mean for it to appear as though I am purchasing, it simply is a cultural misunderstanding, sorry if I have offended any of you. Now Queen Aglaea, I do in fact understand the scope of things. I simply believe I truly have found someone special with your daughter, she is an amazing person and though we have known each other only a short while I do in fact believe she is the one otherwise I wouldn't be here before you. She is great, I have spent weeks here on end visiting her, hours chatting with her on video, I have never missed one occasion that she is speaking at a seminar like the one I met her at, I have even stayed up late at night when I've visited her trying to keep her calm before her speeches. I have never taken advantage of her, I feel that is a special thing only achievable through marriage, I don't wish to commit myself to a sexual act with your daughter and sister so you can rest assured this is not based on bad intention but truly from my heart. I greatly admire her, though it has been really short it is within my own personal beliefs that you are able to determine someone special based on your first interactions and trust me I have with her. Please, I hope you can understand where I am coming from. Though looked down upon in my culture, I have dated many girls, especially in college and none has been able to meet the standard that Cornelia does. I love her, she has helped guide me through many pivotal points in my education, she has been there for me when I've stressed myself out late into the night studying. She is special, I've been able to share silence comfortably with her and it's perfectly okay. Cornelia reassures me, and that's something you don't just find with the girl next door, I guarantee that". It was without a doubt that Hamed did feel deeply connected to Cornelia, he couldn't go without smiling when saying her name. His palms grew sweaty and eyes slightly watery as he wished to hear a response from her family. Edited by U.A.E, Jan 19 2016, 07:02 PM.

"How do we know that she won't simply become part of a harem? Your father has two wives..." Oppius Decimus Maxentius said bluntly and forcefully. King Marcus Decimus Maxentius IX sighed, his eyes closed as he exhaled deeply. His brother, the Prince, could be impolite, at best, or downright improper and insulting, as in now. Yet, he said nothing. That question had indeed been in his mind, but felt it better to leave that to Cornelia Decima and not bring up the matter himself. "I sometimes wonder, my child, where you learned such a disregard for civility." the Queen Dowager replied. Her remarks helped ease the tension from Hamed, but he knew that the thrust of the question stood. All eyes were again on Hamed and he took several moments to gather his thoughts in order to provide a clear and unequivocal response. Before he could answer, the Porcuian King added, "We are simply concerned that Cornelia will eventually slip from your attention and no longer command your undivided love. We Maxentii are few, as you can see, and the bonds of family and love carry near absolute weight." |

"Because I don't believe in that. Besides I'm not my father and he spends equal time between them and religiously if he chooses to practice an act such as polygamy his intentions and love for them must be the same. But this isn't about my father, it is about me and your daughter or sister. Also it is equally the decision of the wife to be in such a relationship, more so than it is for the man. Trust me though, your daughter and sister is a girl none like the others I have been with. I truly do love her, and I wish to be with her. I understand your concern, I would too if I did not know an individual and only heard or saw a few things of their family. You see if Cornelia and I were to have children their royalty would stretch between both of our families and though you are more of a cultural monarchy just like mine in some ways I should see no troubles in sharing the royal markings in both families. But that's besides the point at the moment, I love your daughter and sister dearly, and I promise you that my love for her would never die down. She is different from the girls I have been with and dated before, and I can assure you this is solely with good intentions. I understand your concerns and I wish to inform you they are unnecessary as I really mean good. I love Cornelia and wish to spend the rest of my life with her, she is different. She's perfect, as I said she is not just a girl next door, she is the one. Everyone has someone they are meant for and with me I believe it is Cornelia, she is just so astonishingly beautiful and extremely smart. I want to be with her, the girls I have dated are nothing when compared to Cornelia. I am not content with marrying a local Amirati or Arabic girl, Cornelia is someone that I have been surprised by, she has taken my attention and drawn it to her and I wish to only be with her". Again Hamed couldn't go without smiling and closing his eyes when saying her name. Shaken up by the whole ordeal and the back lash Hamed slightly shaking looked towards the gathered family and waited to hear who would speak first. Edited by U.A.E, Jan 31 2016, 09:12 PM.

Several long, oppressive moments of silence passed. What made Hamed worry the most was the Queen Mother, only because he could not read her expression. Despite her reserved role within Porcuian society, it was clear that she had come to learn a great deal during her lifetime. Many of those things were not necessarily articulable. Queen Aglaea Helvia stood, drawing everyone's attention, and walked to Hamed. His heart raced as he stood to meet her, understanding that she had reached her decision. His hands trembled as the Porcuian Queen took them in her own and he held his breath. "Despite your age, I believe your heart is set. I know my Cornelia will not always be pleasant or easy to deal with, but she is honest and deeply compassionate. I feel a great deal of love from you for her. Promise to take care of her and to love her with your whole soul...You have my blessing." Hamed was speechless. Words failed to escape his mouth, yet in their place tears began to well up at the corners of his eyes. The Amirati Crown Prince gazed behind the Queen and saw that the Porcuian King was smiling. "You have my blessing as well." King Marcus Decimus Maxentius IX said. "And mine as well." Prince Oppius Decimus Maxentius added. Edited by Porcu, Jan 31 2016, 11:01 PM.

Hamed began to smile and thanked them. Shortly afterward the gifts were given to Cornelia and the dowry were exchanged as a token of his gratitude. Hamed met up with Cornelia and together they drove around in his limo and stopped at a restaurant to eat. She treated it as if it was another date, little did she know of the surprise she was about to get. The couple then stopped and walked along a promenade in Ariminae, there he stopped with a view of the sunset and got down on one knee. Cornelia placed her hands up to her mouth and stepped back in astonishment. Hamed then said to her in whispered Porcuian Greek "Cornelia will you marry me?" she nodded as tears set into her eyes, her face grew red and he grabbed her left hand and placed the nearly 1 million Alijadin ring onto her finger. She looked at it and then leaped into his open arms. Giving her a piggyback ride all the way back to the limo, they continued their outing before he let her back to the royal palace. Her day had been amazing, having received many new gifts and being made aware of a mansion villa purchased off the coast of the Greek region of the Roman Empire. Hamed made his way back to the U.A.E in order to make his family aware of the decision and the pending marriage. After doing so, and being met with happiness and praise he made the preparations to making the wedding perfect, going through every step twice to make sure it was a wedding never to be forgotten.
