The board of directors of APHA had noticed their volunteers attempting to gather information regarding the situation in the African nation hadn't given in their hourly report after their daily venture into a combat zone. The 85 Gaedic volunteers who had arrived in the U.A.E to work with APHA had also noticed their were no reports after they conducted a second review of information, it was silent and nobody seemed to be online.

The delegation was warned about not giving accurate and timely reports regarding their whereabouts and the current situation. Fearing the worse, the APHA board of directors faxed and called into the National Police field office in Falah. They informed the National Police of the situation and how they failed to report back.

Quote:

"Our volunteer delegation of both nationals and foreign volunteers operating in the Republic of Shabwah have gone offline. They have not given in their hourly report and have denied contact a total of ten times. There are thirty in total, most of them in their twenties, they are lead by a professor of international law at the Royal Sharyan Friendship University here in the U.A.E. We want an immediate investigation regarding their whereabouts to be conducted as soon as possible".
-APHA Fax to National Police

Just under thirty minutes later General Suleiman Akima ruler of the Republic of Shabwah released a suspicious statement regarding spies operating in his nation. "Just today, our military forces successfully apprehended seventeen foreign spies wishing to break up our government and to assassinate me. Their local guides were executed as well. Our forces have successfully demonstrated that we are fully behind our statements regarding the international intervention in the republic of Shabwah. We will stand by those statements and truly do mean them".

A few minutes afterwards the National Police reached out to both the APHA board of directors and the president of the U.A.E Mujahid Ali Alsaeed. The National Police had confirmed that the seventeen detained individuals were those from the APHA delegation and that they didn't know where they were being held. They also speculated that thirteen volunteers had been executed but they didn't know exactly where they were when they were stopped by government forces. President Mujahid Ali Alsaeed was awaiting to release a statement and to hold a press conference later on regarding the apprehension of those operating in the Republic of Shabwah.

"I regret to inform you that currently we are receiving information hinting that seventeen volunteers. Both Amirati nationals and foreigners alike have been apprehended by the Shabwahiian government and are being held at an unknown location. We are trying our best to gather information regarding the detention of civilian activist in the Republic of Shabwah. We don't wish to use military force, rather to work it our diplomatically as it will insure the safety of our citizens and those who have joined them. We are also being made aware of possibly thirteen of those volunteers having been executed based on statements released by the ruler of the Republic of Shabwah. We the U.A.E wish to inform the government of Shabwah that we aren't afraid to take action militarily and are confident that our allies feel just the same regarding the recent actions against our citizens in the republic solely wishing to gather information. We urge the Shabwahiian government to cooperate fully if their sovereignty is truly that important to them".

President Mujahid Ali Alsaeed then went on to handle his press conference regarding the situation.

The National Police were continuing their investigation by gathering information already held by APHA, they wished to further gather information to possibly trace the last known location of those apprehended and to establish their exact whereabouts.

Kuwait stands by our allies in the U.A.E regarding any decisions made by their government and condemns the actions of the Republic of Shabwah government.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sameer bin Khairah Al Bahraini released a statement giving support to his Amirati allies in the U.A.E.

"The acts of the republic of Shabwah are disgusting and despicable. Their genocides of their own people and now the apprehension and possible executions of foreign civilians is proof of their illegitimacy as a state to function peacefully. We stand by our allies in the U.A.E and wish to give support to them in anyway that we can. We too would like to call for negotiations to release individuals currently being held by the Shabwahiian government because they are not spies and need to be released as soon as possible".

Today, we mourn the loss of life for the three Gaesch civilians who died waging a war of peace and tranquility. Afraz Ahmed, 27. Hamid Hussein, 22. And Sophia Ilias, aged just 23. All were alumni from Ithaca University, and were distinguishable students within their own right. Respectable, young people who wished to make the world they saw a better place. All victims who perished were of tremendous solace, and their acts upon humanity will never be forgotten. Now is the time to forget worldwide politics, for the sadness that engulfs us while we mourn for the people of the Federation and Amirate will be too much to bear. But we must not let ourselves down, for those who commited these horrendous acts will not be forgiven, and the might of the Caliphate's people, people of all faiths and ideas will inflict merciless suffering upon them. I urge the people of the Federation, people of the Amirati, and people of the world to rise up and realize the senseless killings happening around us.

- President Kabir, 11/25/15, 6:11 PM EST.

To the Gaedic Caliphate from President Mujahid Ali Alsaeed of the U.A.E
"We do not wish to negotiate with terrorist either... however in order to insure the safety of those involved we and I can assure you the international community feel that military action will only make the situation worse. We are currently discussing plans to effectively stop the tyranny in the Republic of Shabwah however that will take some time. We will be reaching out to those involved in the apprehension of our citizens and we will get them back I can promise you".

The Amirati Intelligence Agency (A.I.A) began to reach out to General Suleiman Akima

"Mr. Akima, if you have not been made aware before. Those individuals who have been captured by your government are not spies and are not working for any particular government but rather the world community. We urge your government to give us inside information and proof of the hostages still being alive. We, the U.A.E are willing to cooperate and hear out some needs that the Shabwahiian government might have. We cannot assure you full promises being fulfilled but we can stress the need for our citizens to be released and while they are in captivity to be treated fairly and as international law requires them to be treated. We urge your government to respond to this statement, if failed we will have no choice but to take military action against your state. That's not a threat Mr. Akima, that's a promise backed by Amirati bombs which will easily fall upon your sovereignty and capital, especially your palace if our demands aren't met and attempts for negotiations aren't responded to".

The news of the murders of the civilians sent to Shabwah on the international fact-finding mission were being broadcast on Capetonian television stations around the clock. In his office in the National Assembly, President Mkeba huddled near his television, the Prime Minister on his left and his Minister of Defence on his right. The images were indeed disturbing: smouldering shells of vehicles, dead bodies strewn along the road, and blood and carnage everywhere. Ever since first learning of the ever-evolving situation in Shabwah, President Mkeba had grown more and more frustrated. The destruction, hatred, and death that he was observing on his television and through the updates his ministries provided him was all too familiar. It was not all that long ago that Greater Cape had been embroiled in its own civil war; the tribes and villages of Xhosa, Zulu, Afrikaners, Tswana, and many others fought each other for dominance over the land around the Cape of Good Hope. Not until the various factions realized that continued instability would bring nothing but their own demise had peace come to what would become the Republic of Greater Cape. As such, the ethnic strife in Shabwah was all too personal for President Mkeba. Being ignored by General Akima was frustrating enough but to see his allies' citizens gunned down and murdered like animals was downright offensive to him. President Mkeba had had enough.

"This is disgusting...can you believe this? This Akima is nothing more than a bloodthirsty criminal who needs to be brought to justice," Mkeba scoffed.

"Well, George sent me an email not too long ago saying that the ICON is currently voting on a resolution that would formally condemn the parties responsible for what's going on in Shabwah and to cease hostilities," Prime Minister Mbuzambeki mentioned halfheartedly.

"I'm glad he's representing our interests well in Toledo but the ICON is anything but effective, especially in the face of terrorists and warmongers," Minister Edna Nxesi responded.

"You're right, Edna," Mkeba corroborated. "As much as I respect the diplomatic process and see the legitimate need for institutions like the ICON, some people don't give a damn about anything but their own selfish interests. This seems to be the case with this Akima. He's a criminal, plain and simple. What's more, he's so incredibly ignorant...He has repeated to the world that the civil war does not affect us yet his own forces murdered foreign nationals in cold blood. This is an outrage! I think we should contact our allies and float the idea of military intervention. What do you think?"

"You know I'd support you in this, Kameron. Furthermore, I know that you'd have the rest of the National Assembly and the people of Greater Cape behind your decision to intervene in Shabwah...I just have to think about the prospect of our allies deciding not to get involved along with us. Do you believe we can handle intervention by ourselves? Shabwah is thousands of kilometres away and ours isn't the largest military force..." Mbuzambeki pondered.

"With all due respect, Prime Minister, I couldn't imagine why the Federation, U.A.E, or Gaedic Caliphate wouldn't want to get involved given that their own citizens were murdered by this madman. Even so, you're right; our military force is small. Where we lack strength, though, we gain in speciality. Ours is a highly specialized military and I am more than confident that we could handle a strategically coordinated bombing campaign of Shabwahiian military installations should things come to that. This way, we have the smallest risk of loss of life with the greatest damage done to the Shabwahiian forces," Minister Nxesi exclaimed.

"Well, if you're confident, Edna, I don't see why I shouldn't believe you. I stand behind your analysis of the situation one hundred percent. What say you, Kameron? Why don't you send a telegram to our allies and their supporters and see how they'd respond to military intervention?"

With Prime Minister Mbuzambeki's question circling his mind, President Mkeba looked at his two colleagues, gave a plaintive smile, and walked over to his computer.

Kingdom of Kuwait

It is with a heavy heart that I write you today. First, I would like to send my deepest condolences to those that suffered the loss of citizens at the hands of the bloodthirsty Akima and the Shabwahiian forces. It is with the utmost confidence that I say that the entire Republic of Greater Cape stands with you all.

The loss of African, Amirati, and Gaedic lives is the proof that we all needed to show that the Shabwahiian leadership is nothing but an ineffectual dictatorship without any regard for the formal rule of law, the ICON, or the stability of the African Continent. As such, I would like to enquire as to your respective governments' positions on military intervention. I cannot sit idly by as Akima and his pirate forces murder civilians, be they Shabwahiian or African or Amirati or Gaedi; no ruler has that right. The Republic of Greater Cape vows to work closely with your respective governments to bring Akima to justice and, should military intervention be the best course of action, then we shall coordinate our efforts so as to cease the genocide in Shabwah and bring stability back to Africa.

An unknown official from the A.I.A responded to the Capetonia message regarding military intervention.

"Of course you can't know my official identity, but us here in the A.I.A have been discussing a plan with president Mujahid Alsaeed regarding military intervention in the African nation of the Republic of Shabwah. You see as of now our plan is confidential and we will contact the governments of the United African Federation and the Gaedic Caliphate in order to discuss the A.I.A's plan regarding the possibility of a military intervention in the Republic of Shabwah, we have also expressed our interest in pursuing military action against the government of the Republic of Shabwah in particular. But as of now it is simply a plan that should be worked out by each of the "allied" nations intelligence forces".

OOC: I will write up the RP regarding the A.I.A military intervention plan later on, I want to give time for the Republic of Shabwah time to respond to the negotiations for our civilians being held in captivity.

Republic of Shabwah's president responded to the Gaedic and Amirati proposals for their civilians.

Video proof of their civilians were sent to the two governments. They had bags over their heads and sat on their knees with their hands handcuffed behind their backs. The hostages were naked and appeared to be held in an underground facility somewhere, the particular room they were in appeared to be a bathroom which was very dirty looking. Shabwahiian troops wearing ski-mask and army uniforms sprayed them with a high volume of water inflicting pain upon them as part of their torture.

General Akima released a statement to the governments along with the video evidence of them still being alive.

"We are willing to cooperate in releasing your citizens. However negotiations cannot take place without demands on your part being made to ensure the trust in the operation to transfer your citizens. We are only willing to release three individuals, one from each country. We are disappointed at the refusal of your citizens to cooperate in the interrogation process. Dr. Nassim from the United Amirati Emirates has refused to cooperate and has had to undergo hours of sleep deprivation and exposure to cold temperatures while wet and naked as a result of his refusal to cooperate.

Our demands are for actions by ICON to be postponed, we don't want any international intervention on our sovereignty and i'm sure by now that you have recognized that. We want the actions of every party to be postponed till we deem them necessary to be lifted by our government. On top of that we want five AK-47 assault rifles due to our five casualties taken while attempting to apprehend your citizens. With that said we will work out a plan to formulate future discussions regarding the negotiations for those three individuals only. No further discussions shall be made if demands aren't met for the particular situation. Also military action shall not be taken by any international state in the wake of the negotiations. Only then will we be willing to cooperate".

In secret the Shabwahiian military collected the bodies of the executed foreigners that had remained on the road in the jungle. They loaded the thirteen bodies into the back of a humvee under the cover of pitch darkness of the jungle and drove it to anther discreet location in another part of the country not far from the capital.

Inside the facility

The building the bodies were taken to was a warehouse of sorts. It had been abandoned decades ago and had been used by the government as a front for their drug smuggling operations. While there government doctors operated upon the bodies of the foreign delegates and removed organs that could be saved. They took kidneys, livers, and lungs the only one's that were still salvageable from the corpses. They were then sewed up once more and placed into body bags and thrown back into the humvees they had ridden in to the facility.

They drove another two hours in a convoy to a desolate field in the eastern portion of the country and the thirty soldiers dug a large deep hole. The whole measured 15x10 feet and 8 feet deep. The troops unzipped the body bags and tossed the corpses into the newly dug mass grave. They recovered the hole and the bodies and forgot about them. They were never to be seen again.

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

The gears of the international community had begun to spin and move the heavy machinery of the deliberative body that was ICON in response to the ongoing conflict in Shabwah. Even if the Secretary-General had any personal reservations regarding the adopted resolution, Andris, a Baltic German serf of the Baltic German's own Ambassador to ICON Jurgen von Wahl's, it was his duty to carry out the functions of his office. Therefore, it would be his name affixed to the diplomatic communiqué to the Shabwahiian government leadership, as well as to the various leadership of the militias.

OPEN COMMUNIQUÉ FROM THE INTERNATIONAL COMMONWEALTH OF NATIONS

Let it be affirmed that the international community condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence, the pain, and the suffering afflicted upon the peoples of Shabwah.

The Resolution For The Peaceful Conclusion Of The Shabwahiian Civil War makes clear the position of the International Commonwealth of Nations, whose desire it is to see a halt in hostilities and the beginning of a constructive and meaningful dialogue which results in peace and stability, both locally and regionally.

The terms of the resolution are to be abided by all parties. The international community is resolute and further action will be taken by ICON should the terms of the aforementioned resolution not be met.

Andris

The Federal Tower, Aksum....

President Defar sat in silence as she gazed past the glass and steal before her out into the open air just beyond the confines of her office. Her office was at the top of the glittering tower which in many aspects defined the capital city of the Federation. Since expanding from the small, historic town, Aksum's skyline remained defined by this one remarkable feet of African engineering. Indeed the city council passed an law restricting all future buildings from reaching the height of the tower to ensure that this one great symbol of Federal Democracy would remain the defining mark of the Aksum silhouette. Thus the President's view of the rest of the city as well as the outlying countryside beyond was relatively unobstructed. Defar had only recently ended the last of her personal calls to the families of those Federation citizens which were now dead. Though they had all been well aware of the risks, these civilian servants had valiantly trekked into the depths of hell in their righteous pursuit of liberty and justice. For that, the President praised them and thanked their families for allowing such beautiful people to exist in the world. Still, Angela understood that her words were only just that, echoes of the true thoughts that had been racing in her mind. She knew nothing she could say would bring them back nor bring any true comfort to the friends and family to which they now left behind.

She had been brief prior to the calls on the situation. She had been informed that the resolution in ICON had passed, eclipsing the demands made by the dictator of Shabwah. Whether or not that changed anything in terms of the Amirati attempts at securing those who still survived was undetermined. The President's advisers believed now more than ever that negotiations were futile. One Federation citizen remained, or was to be believed still alive. They had no way of truly knowing and even if they were alive, their life was now on loan. The Shabwah would not give them back without getting something in return, no doubt the means to continue to the countless and senseless slaughter of its own people. No, negotiations were over and whether or not the President would admit it openly, she knew she could not allow the life on one federation citizen jeopardize the security of all of Africa. The Gaedic and the Amirati could negotiate if they saw fit, they were within their right to do so but the Federation would have no part in it. No legitimate government behave in the way in which this General Akima was behaving. After a rather lengthy discussion with her military and political advisers, the Federation put a new stage of their plan for this crisis into action,

Agents which had been put on standby from the Office of Strategic Services were released into the Shabwanian wilderness. They used the cover of darkness to enter the country in the same fashion with which the refugees were leaving. Evading was patrols were out, they soon pressed on into the jungles were they would find significant cover the continue forward. Lightly armed, they were certainly outgunned by some of the more armed militias. However, they were far better trained than most and could utilize their small weaponry to make them more light so they could cover more ground. One agent was assigned to each of the target groups which were the: Darfuri, Bab, Halikihatta, and the Gumeysigii people. Each agent brought a simple message from the Federation, a promise of support for any faction willing to fight for democracy for Shabwah. However, back home in Federation territory the Defar administration was not going to wait to get a reply. Before an announcement was given in response to the murders there was obvious activity along the border. Small Humvee patrols were being quickly replaced with tank and armored personnel carrier patrols. In the skies more and more jets were also flying up and don the border. However, no matter what conclusions were being drawn, all doubt was quickly erased when the official announcement was finally made.

Official Statement
F.U.A.N
There are no words to express the sorrow for which we, the citizens, of the Federation of United African Nations feel for the lives lost in Shabwah. Never before have the lives of our citizens been threaten in such a way as to result in their senseless death. We mourn not only for our own lost citizens but for those lost by our Gaedic and Amirati neighbors for their lives were as equally important to us as those who bore the citizenship of the Federation. To think any government could allow such barbaric actions to take place is unthinkable and is an enigma to the Federation's government. Indeed we have always been of the belief that all governments recognize the sacred and unwritten law that all life, no matter its origins or being, was precious and should be preserved at all costs. That this is not true for the leadership of Shabwah can only confirm our now resolute belief that the State of Shabwah is lawless. It is through this deduction that the Federation of United African Nations formally withdraws all our recognition of the state of Shabwah and its junta government. We declare the nation of Shabwah to be in anarchy and all combatants to be terrorists against the legitimate government of the Shabwah people, a government that can only be recognize upon free and fair elections.

We stand by the Resolution For The Peaceful Conclusion Of The Shabwahiian Civil War and urge all terrorist organizations to uphold the resolution. However, we also want it to be made perfectly clear that failure to comply with the resolution by the people of the nation of Shabwah will result in no less than military actions by the Federation. The Federation will take the failure as a declaration of further hostilities and, as a matter of security for the Federation, the Federation of United African Nations will authorize the deployment of a liberation force whose sole mission will be the eradication of hostile elements which threaten the peace of the Shabwahian people. While we applaud the efforts by our friends and allies an indeed, standby their continued efforts, the Federation is confident in our stated course.

General Akima ignored the statements put forth by F.U.A.N in order to continue a negotiation for hostages of Amirati and Gaedic descent and because he was not happy about the Federation's stopping of recognition of the Republic.

"Dear President Mujahid Ali Alsaeed, you sir are aware that your citizens have trampled upon our lands despite our pleas to avoid intervention from the international community. We are willing to release three individuals only, of which one will be the last remaining citizen from the Federation. We urge your government to take no particular military standpoint upon the republic of Shabwah in regards to our statements. We are only willing to trade these citizens for five AK-47s due to the five soldiers we lost attempting to apprehend them. We also want ICON to stop it's actions against the republic and would want the international community to prevent itself from taking any form of military actions in the republic for the time directly after the negotiations are completed. I, General Akima, wish you and your government the best as you try to get everything in place for these negotiations to go forth. Thank you, and have a wonderful time doing so".

Along with the official statement sent to the Amirati president was a video showing the hostages in a dirty tiled room with black bags over their heads and naked. The room seemed cold and as the hostages were tied by their hands and feet masked soldiers went forth hitting them with batons on the shoulders to inflict pain part of the torture.

President Mujahid was astonished by the video footage of the hostages treatment in captivity. Because of that, he released his own formal statement addressing the Republic of Shabwah.

"General Akima, the U.A.E, F.U.A.N and GCU would greatly appreciate the proper treatment of our citizens under the context of prisoners of war to be upheld to standards coinciding with international law. Failure to do so, will grant the U.A.E no choice but to take military action against the republic and disregard negotiation attempts".

A.I.A officials began putting in place the information necessary for the trading to begin. The A.I.A was going to send one of their most dedicated and loyal agents, Abdelaziz Ahmed. Not much was known about Abdelaziz by the public but within the intelligence community of the U.A.E he had made himself known as an expert negotiator. He had worked negotiations in hostage and terrorism related incidents in other countries before returning to his own. Now, he was going to work to free three people held in captivity in a hostile country. Abdelaziz went forth to meet with the president of the U.A.E, emir Mujahid Ali Alsaeed.

Upon entering Alsaeed's office he was met by the heads of each military branch, the director of intelligence Mohammed Taweed, and Commander of Law and commissioner of the national intelligence agency "The National Police Department", Tariq Al Waladi. Mr. Ahmed greeted the men and sat down.

"Mr. President we have gathered so much information on the republic and we believe that there needs to be something done in regards to our citizens and our allies citizens being held within the republic of Shabwah. The Shabwahiian military is holding them in an unknown location within the republic, us in the A.I.A working on the case to get our citizens back have made the decision that the best citizen to negotiate for is Dr. Mohammed Nassim, the professor of international law at Royal Sharyan University of Friendship for International Relations and Studies. He was the leader of the delegation and the one who has perhaps the most knowledge regarding international law and the history of the conflicts being he was in charge of keeping the data. We want to push specifically for his release, us in the intelligence as i'm sure you are aware Mr. Waladi have been gathering so much data on the volunteers that freeing him first would only make sense. So please Mr. President before we go forth with this I just want to ask you, is this what you want to do?".

President Mujahid was very young and should've been overwhelmed by the given information however, he had grown up in a family of leadership and felt that it was a relatively easy decision to make. Without questioning his thought he answered, "Yes, go forth with it, and push for Dr. Nassim's release if you so feel he is the most important citizen currently being held. I will be meeting with Tariq Waladi and A.I.A director Mohammed Taweed regarding what to do with the rest. Mr. Ahmed, please bring those on the line home, it is the right thing to do".

With that Abdelaziz smiled slightly and stood up, he grabbed his briefcase with documents and left to board a chartered flight to the capital of the Republic of Shabwah to order the release of the three citizens from the three countries including his own. Abdelaziz was the first Amirati to step on Shabwahiian soil since the volunteers landed there a few weeks prior. Carrying with him his brief case, along with five AK-47s without magazines in five duffle bags pulled by a Shabwahiian government official who was in charge of taking him to the presidential palace. Little did the Shabwahiian's know that the AK-47's were completely dysfunctional and were faulty and when fired could pose a great risk to the handler. The AK-47s had been transferred on a secret military flight escorted by Amirati fighter jets from the Greater Cape through governmental participation in freeing innocent civilians.

Abdelaziz trekked into the presidential palace and was searched before being permitted entry. He entered General Akima's office and greeted the General who wasn't old at all, in fact he was in his mid to late thirties, the Shabwahiian president wasn't taller than him at 6'2, which helped contribute to showing they were on some sort of equal footing. Abdelaziz knew now General Akima wouldn't be able to use height as a way to show presiding authority, still Abdelaziz would attempt to negotiate and show respect so not to stomp upon the General's foot and hinder the negotiations.

General Akima greeted the young man and responded with an almost pleasant attitude.

"So, Mr.Abdelaziz, what is it that the Amirati government would like to put forth in order to free the three individuals? We are talking about violators of Shabwahiian law and that sir is something I cannot tolerate on my territory. They came here, attempting to gather information to which we, the Shabwahiian government can perceive as being espionage. We wish to not have any sort of international aggression upon the Shabwahiian state, we want to solve our own problems and having international groups and volunteers enter upon our sovereignty is viewed by us to be a complete disregard of our judicial system and practices. With my formal statement completed, I want to know what is it that we are talking about here? What is it that the Amirati government along with the Federation and Gaedic governments want out of this process? Where do we go from here? If you can answer these questions enough to satisfy me and to meet the already put forward demands by my government I will be more than happy to release the already three promised hostages".

The room fell silent as General Akima awaited a response from Abdelaziz who was seated directly across the desk from him.

"First Mr. general, I want to make it clear that we cannot stop the demands to prevent ICON action upon the republic as it is a complete decision made by the states that vote upon a particular solution. We do however have the five AK-47 assault rifles and we wish to transfer them to your government if and only if these negotiations are successful. I want to warn you Mr. general, that if you so choose to not give those citizens up because of our standpoint on ICON action, we can almost promise you international condemnation and attack, especially from the U.A.E which has made clear the willingness to drop explosives upon your capital, literally blowing Shabwah off the map. That is not a threat Mr. general, but a promise. As I said though, we are willing to give forth the AK-47 assault rifles and attempt to prevent international intervention in the Shabwahiian conflict, those sir are promises as well.

The Amirati government has stressed to me the importance of one particular Amirati hostage to be released, Dr. Mohammed Nassim. If he is not the hostage we receive you can also call this negotiation off. We want Dr. Nassim specifically, along with one Gaed and one African citizen. Now that i've made my governments proposal and demands clear I wish to hear what you have to say regarding our demands".

"Hmm since you put it that way, you need to understand though we need to uphold our system of beliefs and meeting the demands of other nations is not acceptable with the threat of military action. We are willing however to give over Dr. Nassim along with two other citizens one from the Gaedic Caliphate and the other from the African Federation. Now to proceed forward with these talks, I want to see the AKs".

"General Akima, you have to understand the international community greatly despises the actions of the Shabwahiian government and so of course we cannot prevent ICON action as I stated before, we can only attempt to stop it. Now here you go, these are the AK-47s. If you'll excuse me, I have to place a call back to my government".

Abdelaziz unzipped the bags and pulled out each of the AK-47s, one without a stock and the other four as regular AK-47s. They didn't come with clips so not to be fired directly on the spot being they were faulty, in order to get the hostages released as soon as possible. General Akima's face was surprised that the gun demand was met, he now only hoped for the international community to do the rest.

Abdelaziz went to the restroom to place his call back home to the U.A.E.

After ringing twice the phone was picked up by another agent working on the case.

"Good news, they are willing to release Dr. Nassim, everything is falling into place. Tell the rest of the team working the case and get ready to meet them at the border of the African Federation and the Republic of Shabwah. They are to be released within the next few hours. General Akima also accepted the AK-47s, hopefully we can keep them stalled long enough not to realize that we are wishing to gain further intel from those that were once held here as prisoners. I'm coming home agent, as soon as I leave this palace".

Abdelaziz entered the president's office once more and smiled towards him in an attempt to show him the deal was on.

General Akima made one final remark as Abdelaziz collected his briefcase.

"They will be at the border at 9:30 pm, if no one is there to receive them...they will be brought back and won't be able to be retrieved again".

A few hours later at the military compound the hostages were being held at, two soldiers made there way towards the cells that Dr. Nassim, the Federation citizen and a Gaedic citizen were being held at. They opened the doors and said to them "You are free to go, thank the U.A.E". The soldiers handcuffed the men and placed a black bag over their heads. They then marched them upstairs through the dark halls to the main entrance of the secret building in the wilderness of the Republic of Shabwah, the compound was in a remote location in the west of the country. It would be an hour drive to the border where they were to be picked up from.

The soldiers walked the hostages towards a white van in the center of the compound. The van, a white 2001 Chevrolet Express commercial van, sat in the center of the compound guarded by two men unarmed and wearing plain clothes. The hoods were lifted from the hostages faces and immediately they were met with bright sunlight, the first time they had seen light in days. They hadn't eaten or drank for the past six days, their mouths were dry and sticky, their stomachs were empty and pained. They hadn't known if they were going to be executed or if they were really being released, they just hoped it was true. The hostages got a view of the compound, it was surrounded by sand dunes and it was hot yet again so was the inside of the building they were held at. Dr. Nassim turned his head slightly to look behind him and got a sight of the building he was once held at. It was completely blackened. The dark building looked as though it had never been washed, proving once again the poverty stricken nation of Shabwah was a place of corruption and the soldiers were brainwashed to fight for such a tyrannical regime. Everything they had once owned was gone, the hotel they had stayed at was breached by soldiers who claimed that "spies had stayed there" and so their clothes, documents and valuables were stolen. They walked out wearing nothing but the clothes they had on their backs when they entered.

They had undergone so much torture especially Dr. Nassim who being the leader of the volunteers was subject to random beatings at all hours of the night, sleep deprivation and random power washings as he slept which forced him to sleep on a wet and cold concrete floor as American cockroaches entered his and other hostages cells. Rats sometimes scurried past their feet and without a doubt they were glad to be leaving. But one thing weighed on their consciences, everyone else of the seventeen taken hostage by the Shabwahiian government was left behind. Still they walked on as soldiers aimed AK-47s towards their backs forcing them into the van one by one.

After loading in the two plain clothed men entered the front. They then drove out the gates of the compound guarded by two soldiers in tours armed with AK-47s. They drove along the empty road out of the compound. They wanted to know exactly where they were and for now they hadn't known. It took exactly 45 minutes to reach a point with a street sign. Dr. Nassim with his knowledge read the words Awa road. The van reached the location near the border and waited for hours before the Amirati troops with humvees reached the border. They stood there peacefully but armed, in front of them was Abdelaziz who awaited the volunteers to march towards them. As soon as they were freed the volunteers walked through the darkness towards the headlights of the humvees on the Federation side of the border. When they reached the other side the humvee light shut off and so did the lights on the van and they drove their separate ways. It was the end of their captivity for these three individuals.

When the hostages crossed over, tears were streaming down their faces. Dr. Nassim hugged the first soldier he saw and Abdelaziz even though he never met them before. They had freed him and they hadn't forgotten about him, and they hadn't forgotten about the other two hostages. The two soldiers who stood a few yards behind Abdelaziz next to a humvee gave all three former hostages a gallon jug of water. They all opened it and began drinking and drinking and drinking so to stop the thirst they endured for the past six days. They were also handed turkey sandwiches the first food they ate in six days. They entered the one humvee they were going to be traveling in and Abdelaziz said to them "It's okay, you're free now. Rest" and just like that they closed their eyes and fell asleep for the first time in four days. It was over for them.

The three other humvees were filled with soldiers from the U.A.E army helping the Federation in treating refugees. The former hostages were to drive to the nearest city and board planes with Abdelaziz. One plane would carry the African citizen to the capital of Aksum. The other plane would carry Dr. Nassim and the Gaedic citizen that joined him to the U.A.E where they would finally link up with their team in APHA's head office.

When Dr. Nassim exited the plane after the Gaedic citizen left he turned to Abdelaziz and said "Thank you for not forgetting me. But what about the others?"
Abdelaziz nodded his head and with a friendly smirk replied "You are not quite free yet doctor. You will need to join me at A.I.A headquarters here in Assad. We need your help with something". At this point believing to know what it was Dr. Nassim smiled and thanked Abdelaziz one more time.

A few minutes later at A.I.A headquarters having eaten for the third time since his release and now drinking a coke Dr. Nassim sat with the head of the A.I.A, Director Mohammed Taweed and with Abdelaziz for questioning on a particular topic. Where exactly were they being held captive?

Dr. Nassim wanting to save the other ten people left behind in the Republic of Shabwah gladly agreed to give any information they needed.

"Well, I don't know the exact coordinates but I do know the road that lead to the compound. The road was Awa road and we travelled in the van along that road for about forty five minutes before reaching the location where we were exchanged. The compound has six buildings that I observed, however, I was held in the one building that stood four stories and was completely blackened. We were held in the basement and were subjected to torture in our six days of captivity. That was exactly beatings, spraying with high volumes of water naked or while we slept, sleep deprivation and temperature manipulation. The cells and the conditions we were held in were truly horrifying there were cockroaches and rats. It was damp and moldy and the remnants on the walls of the previous prisoners were etched in. We were starved and deprived of water for the six days I was there. It was really horrible".

After the interview Dr. Nassim went home. For the first time in close to two weeks.

"I commend the Amirati government for their diplomatic camaraderie that has resulted in the release of Yusuf. I hope, dearly and with gratefulness, that all the hostages in the situation be released immediately. It will be under my assurance that the Shabwahiians be pressured in releasing the hostages without harm and/or conflict."

The Airport was crowded with journalists and new reporters as the first hostage from the crisis came walking down the steps. His eyes were watering with the majesty of a quiet, yet steady stream. Live news coverage prevailed on local Gaedic new outlets of his return, along with the return of Dr. Nassim and the Federation citizen.

At the International airport in the UAE, Dr. Nassim and Gaedic hostage Yusuf Al-Aziz were greeted by adoring Gaedi's, many of them immigrants who came to find work outside of the Caliphate.

President Mumahid sent his message to the Gaedic leadership.

"Alright everything is in place, the A.I.A has gathered enough intelligence and have established photo imagery of the location. They have counted a total of 65 soldiers on the site and 1 colonel who is in charge of the compound. The exact location is the Awa Military Compound, it is a military facility that has been used as a governmental prison since 1992. It has held notorious people that have been linked to terrorism and those accused of espionage or treason. The hostages are being held in the subbasement of the main building the black one located near the center of the prison. It is a dusty and Sandy location in the Sahara desert, we believe each of the hostages are being held in individual cells based on the statements made by Dr. Nassim.

Our plan is to send in a team of twelve operators from our special forces unit in a black hawk helicopter along with twelve operators from the Gaedic special forces unit. They will be accompanied by an AH-64 Apache helicopter from the Amirati army to provide close air support and aerial cover. The two black hawks will land on the north (Amirati) and south (Gaedic) sides of the base. Two Amirati F-16s will patrol the skies over the area of operation for a radius of fifteen miles, an Amirati predator drone will provide both imagery of the location in real time and will assist in destroying the site after everything is cleared out and the hostages are secured the drone will fire upon the compounds buildings. The two F-16s will complete a fire mission and bombing run on the base to finish the site off as the helicopters head back towards the African Federation who is allowing us to use their territory as a launching point.

The plan will be for the Amirati operatives and Gaedic operatives to work their way towards each other, taking enemies out as they head towards each other. The Gaedic operatives shall remain on the surface of the compound and will apprehend the colonel in the main guard tower. The Amirati operatives will head to the basement and will free the hostages and will lead them out blindfolded".

Gaedic Caliphate Diplomatic Transmission: UAE
Presidential Office
Towards whom rightfully inquires it,
The Gaedic Caliphate United has the full support of said operation. Currently we have control of various naval bases within the Protectorate of Sudan, one fo them being the el-Wadif Navy Base located in Xaraam, Protectorate of Sudan. This base will allow for the safeguarding of the aircraft used in the operation and is positioned so that if needed aircraft may retreat under extremely hostile conditions.

Our operators are also under the joint command of Gaedic and Amirati military command, and we urge the U.A.E. to import your soldiers for the purpose of conducting mock operation drills.
