OOC- Anyone know how to coronate an Emperor? I'll need help.

IC-

After the mourning period had ended, preparations were quietly made for the coronation of the new Emperor. There was no rush, as the Crown Prince was still a minor and would anyway have a regent, and that position had yet to be filled. The Imperial Senate was deciding between the Empress Consort (and soon to be the Empress Mother), the current Lord Chairman of the Imperial Senate, Grand Duke Eduard Xavier II (the crown prince's grand uncle), or one of the Grand Duke's children, should he himself not be healthy enough for the duties. In the old days, regency fell to the office of the Prime Minister almost by default, but ever since the betrayal of Mathias Hein to Gassel all those years ago, neither the Imperial Family nor the Senate would ever entrust that power to that office again.

A question of the lad's bachelorhood was also raised. The Crown Prince would need to be wed as soon as he reached majority, and a proper bride had yet to be found for him, let alone his younger brother. Only their youngest sister had been promised. These decisions would perhaps be more important than who was regent, though not by much.

All the major powers were invited to attend, and even some of the lesser powers found their name on the guest list. It would be a grand affair.

OOC: I did a quick google search when I saw this, looking to see if there was an outline to a German coronation. Sadly, it seems there isn't, nor is there much in the way of an outline for a Prussian King's coronation either. I search for these two particular ones mostly because I know your nation is of German ancestry. Interestingly, I did come across some note on the coronation of Holy Roman Emperors, in particular, a ceremony involving the clergy of Cologne. Perhaps you could piece various elements together and mix some traditional parts with parts that fit Kasnyia more specifically.

OOC- Nice! I think I can work with that...

...when I get the time.

Lord Arnolf Guhamann, Baron of Heidapur and Lord Chairman of the Imperial Senate, was a stern man. A protege of the great Lionel Karschburg, Guhamann considered himself the best possible candidate for regency. He was reputed for his stabilizing presence within the Grand Parliament, keeping the institutional bickering between the Imperial Senate and the House of the People at a minimum...even if it meant having to tolerate that Ludo prick on a daily basis. He had the respect of the Imperial Family as well, doing what he could personally to keep the weight of rule off the Emperor on account of the latter's illness the last few years.

He had done his duty and paid his dues. The Lord Chairman now wanted to get his just reward...Lord Regent of the Kasnyian Empire. True, the position would only last until the Crown Prince finished his training (by order of Maximillian Xavier V, the household rules were changed so that the emperor had to finish his or her education and military training before they were considered out of minority. Therefore, while the legal age of majority in Kasnyia for most things was 21, the training requirement effectively made the requirement at 28...and the Crown Prince was merely 26 and, more importantly, still finishing off his training as an officer of the Imperial Navy. But for Arnolf, two years would be plenty...for his reputation, for his legacy, and for his plans for Kasnyia.

Yes, he would often muse to himself, his plans to make Kasnyia great again. To expunge the remnants of Gassel's dishonor. Of the Dominion's scars, and to restore Kasnyia's glory. But for this to happen, he had to make sure he was made regent. His competition, the elderly and feeble Eduard Xavier II was an easy target to remove from contention, but his children were close to the late Emperor and to the Crown Prince, and they would be more difficult. The Empress Mother was an unknown, but he would find out more. All other "contenders" weren't even worth a thought.

It would be an interesting few weeks though, that was for sure.

Hello and welcome to KNS. Today, protests broke out in Guranburg at the prospect of Her Imperial Majesty being made Regent. She has supporters among foreigners and expatriates living in Kasnyia, some minor support within the House of the People, but is otherwise fairly isolated. Her main rivals the House Aloerburg-Schezeradi, a cadet branch to the ruling House Aloerburg, and the Baron of Heidapur, currently Lord Chairman of the Imperial Senate, both have considerably more support. Other contenders have mostly dropped out or are considered fringe, including the head of House Mondhroviheim, who has considerable backing from Protestant movements and churches.

OOC-

Should I do a poll or is there a clear favorite? I'm open to suggestion.
