Hello and welcome to KNS, your election headquarters!

After a long, hard fought campaign by the blocs and after having finally settled the record amount of legal challenges to the primary victories, the Imperial Election Commission has announced that the polls shall occur in the next month. It promises to be a hell of a battle, folks.

Leading the Orange Front bloc is the Vermillion Movement of Agrarianists with some support by junior partner, the Tangerine Veterans League which had initially been thought to have been relegated to an outside role when it was thought the Coral Party had won. The IEC later discovered fraud on the part of the Corals, who had attempted to target the Veterans by stuffing vote boxes and pressuring voters. As such a revote was held where the Veterans came out in second, two to one against the Corals, likely due to positive public sentiment for the nation's veterans, coupled with the Coral Party's perennially bad reputation. It is believed that the Veterans wish to increase military benefits and break isolationism coupled by the Agrarianists wish to reincorporate Pacifica and increase self-sustanance will make for a powerful team.

In the Green League, the SDPK (Socialist Democratic Party of Kasnyia) leads without need or want of a junior partner. With the Grand Parliament having recently taken on some of His Imperial Majesty's duties in lieu of ill health, will their message of Parliament first ring true with voters as the new status quo, or will the generally hated policy of isolation hurt them in the polls?

The Yellow Bloc is dominated by the NKPP-R, which has controversially taken on the nickname of the Topaz Faction, reflecting its Pre-Dominion Gasselist ideology. However, their leadership of the bloc is through a plurality rather than a majority and will have not one, but two junior partners in the name of the CDP-P and the NKPP-F. Whether this will lead to a reamalgamation of the Yellows, fractured since the fall of Gassel, or lead merely to incoherence, is anyone's guess just now. Stay tuned, folks.

The Protestants, via their Purple Alliance, awarded leadership to the CDPK (Christian Democratic Party of Kasnyia) back during their caucus but, due to a variety of abnormalities (most caused by overenthused support from Browns and Yellows that attempted to suppress the other parties for various reasons), the IEC has declared that the PLEPM recieved the same number of delegates. This has given king-maker powers to the third place finisher (of the three who competed in the caucus), the PSR (Party for Spiritual Reform), which has no position on specific issues. The Alliance has been in serious negotiations to win the PSR's delegates for either CDPK and PLEPM ever since, and it may continue even after the elections. It is hoped by their supporters that an agreement will come and that the current negotiation won't hurt them in the polls.

In the Red List, chaos seems to reign. Since winning the leadership roll of the bloc, the MRR (Movement for Ribbenzoph Restoration) has faced legal challenge after legal challenge. Initially able to fight off these attacks via funding allegedly provided by Damascus and Alexanderhaven, since the collapse of the former the funds have reportedly lessened, as has overall support. Sensing blood in the water, the party that won junior partnership, the OPPK (Orthodox People's Party of Kasnyia) has attempted to poach delegates for itself, and even the Crimson List, which won no delegates, is causing trouble. There are fears among the bloc's supporters that if they can't get it together, the IEC might disqualify the bloc from participating.

Finally, leading the Blue Coalition, is the PDC (People's Democratic Congress). However, like the Reds and Purples, they've been facing drama as well. The Cobalt League (the nickname of the PDC) won their inter-bloc caucus some months ago, but they had stated that they would not try to form the first government for lack of a viable prime ministerial candidate (most in the leadership are either not interested, too old, unpopular or a mixture of all three), instead giving support to political rockstar and freshman MP, Ludwig "Ludo" Schraff, who leads his own faction of the Christian Democratic League. This has incensed METC (the Movement for the Establishment of the True Church), which has brought a complaint against them to the IEC for breaking the bloc's own rules which states that if the winner does not accept or cannot accept leadership, leadership passes on to the second place finisher...the METC. They also argue that it is undemocratic for the third place finisher to lead the bloc simply because the leader of the finisher in question happens to be charismatic. This all occurs in addition to the legal challenges facing METC on its policies, which has rendered it unlikely to be allowed to govern anyway.

The Imperial Election Commission, which has been under pressure to conduct the elections as soon as possible, has declared that they will allow the elections to continue, under the hope that the results will sober up those involved in the interneccine feuds among the blocs. They have, however, stated that if they do not settle their differences even after the vote, that they will nullify the results of both the election and the blocs and rerun the entire thing.

It's drama, it's tension, and it's the future of Kasnyia. Who will win? Stay tuned to KNS for more as the election mania continues.

Encrypted Transmission
Source: Unknown
To: Leadership of the MRR

In the interest of furthering the cause, we would like the make a substantial donation to the Movement for Ribbenzoph Restoration, to begin at the sum of 10 million and then increase as may be necessary to ensure MRR success. A private bank account, to whose information is contained with this transmission, has already been established for the purpose of wiring the funds. Small installments shall be made in order to protect the MRR from further allegations and slander.

OOC: Well naturally for IC reason, I am loving the MRR. However, I would have also voted for the purple block.

OOC- Then why don't/didn't you? :P

That said, I may have made a mistake making this a multipoll. We'll see how it pans out in a week or so but...

IC-

The MRR leadership quietly made arrangements to recieve the money, which immediately went into fighting the legal challenges.

OOC: I voted for orange and red. But what I really like is not so much particular party, but imagining the atmosphere in Kasnyia during election season or political debates. All the groups with their various colors, the factions differentiated by shades - I imagine that places with different banners from different parties all being shown would have an almost festive atmosphere.

OOC: I think I tried voting for three and it wouldn't let me, so I just went with the one. Ah well, either way I am more supportive of the reds than any other block. I'll probably comment a bit later with an IC news report from Russia on opinions about the Kasnyian elections.

In Alexanderhaven, the fall of Damascus had changed their priorities. Patriarch Michael II had paid lip service to the Ribbenzophs while serving as regent during the Dominion Wars. And though Tobias IV technically ruled the city now as King, he had shown disinterest and preferred being a jet setting socialite. And the Patriarch had made...arrangements...to keep himself in power. With House Damascene collapsed, he no longer had to pretend to back the Ribbenzophs...and thus had stopped their own funding of the MRR, preferring their rivals, the theocrats of the OPPK.

Of course, that was as far as he went in his revolt against his supposed liege...for now.

OOC-

This is alluding to a plot I had meant to do a loooong time ago regarding Alexanderhaven. But thought I'd start it here and make it interesting for the Reds. B)

OOC- Meant to say Tobias IV.

He was a minor during the Dominion Wars (his parents and some other family members had been killed when Gassel invaded Alexanderhaven) and was the reason Patriarch Michael II was made regent.

As for his relation to the geneology table, I'm actually not sure....need to find the geneology table.

OOC: I can't remember how to give out a link :( Out of the Ribbenzophs we have (unless I've missed someone), this Tobias can only be a direct descendant of Tobias II (married to Sara Of Muscat) or Boris IV Ribbenzoph whose family-line is in Russia. I'm assuming though that it would be a great-grandson of Tobias II which means the list needs a little updating  as all we've got are Tobias II's children: Stephen and Rebecca.

NEWS JINGLE

Live from studio 7D, in the RBBC Tower in the Moscow International Business District, this is your Moscow Nightly News 30 second news brief....

Good afternoon everyone, I am Nikita Kulikova. Elections in the Kasnyian Empire have Russian connections as a spokesmen for the Russian-branch of the Ribbenzoph family announced their support of the Movement for Ribbenzoph Restoration. In an official statement, the House Ribbenzoph stated:
Official Ribbenzoph House Statement

The family here in Moscow watch with great anticipation over the election season in Kasnyia, our homeland. While we have come to call Russia a home, it cannot replace for us an Empire that we so deeply admired and cared for while it was in our custody. While we have no illusions that a MRR victory will mean the ousting of the current royal family, it would indeed be a victory for our family as it would show that a majority of Kasnyians support both our cause and our claim.
Emperor Ivan VIII, whose grandmother was a Ribbenzoph princess, has not released any official statements concerning either the Kasnyian elections or the possible success of the MRR. For Moscow Nightly News, I am Nikita Kulikova....

Gonna give a week for this poll, but I think I'm gonna have to rerun it because two choices was perhaps not my best idea.

Well maybe. We'll see. I'm clearly of two minds on it. Could turn out fine.

-KNS News-

Welcome to KNS, your election headquarters!

The exit polls have shown that the Blues and Reds have been virtually tied at 23% of the vote! As they currently share plurality, it will be up to them to forge a coalition.

The Purples haven't been so lucky and their shares are less than a percent, well below the cut-off point to enter the Grand Parliament. They fought a strong and hard campaign, showing fire among the Protestant groups but little headway with the general public. They will remain an extra-parliamentary force.

The Yellows have done surprisingly well, though it's speculated that most of their supporters are disaffected Dominion Army veterans who have been locked out of the military pension system and also not accepted by the Orange affiliated Veterans movement, which is highly nationalist and a supporter of the Imperial Family. It will be interesting if they will be allowed to sit in Parliament at all, but more interesting to see who they give their support to. The Yellows have an obvious beef with the Blues, which is the closest of the factions to the Imperial Family, but also the Reds, who are believed to be in the pocket of outsiders, anathema to the Yellows' vaguely xenophobic tendencies. Their is some speculation, despite some distrust, that they might try to form a coalition with the Greens and the Orange.

The Greens consider their minor but significant percentage of the vote to be a mandate that at least some of their reformatory argument is valid and have said they will be strict in their demands with any who wish for their allegiance. They have stated that they can very easily and happily take the opposition benches if no one satisfies their demands.

The Orange have stated that they have already made a pre-election pact with the Blues and will honor it. They've asked for the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Defence and the necessary political space to enact their plans vis a vis their competencies in return for their support.

Watch this space, ladies and gentlemen. Let the coalition building begin!

Welcome to KNS, your election headquarters!

And after two weeks of deliberation and negotiation, the Blue Coalition has announced a government! In addition to the Orange Front with whom the Blues had a pre-election arrangement, have managed to win the Greens after getting them to drop their isolationist stance in favor of putting focus on their parliament-first interests. With them, the Blue Coalition has 58.7% of the vote!

It was initially thought that the Reds, who were also allowed to build a coalition by the IEC after tying for first by seats, would be able to win the yellows and then the Greens. However, due mostly to Green insistance on Parliament's authority, to the annoyance of the MRR, a deal was unable to be reached. To make matters worse, the Yellows have yet to make any agreements among the NKPP-R and its junior partners, continuing its incoherence and thus they have yet to come into agreement with the reds to become a strong opposition.

And with the formation of the new coalition Ludo Schraff, the rising star of the Grand Parliament at only 35, has become the Prime Minister of Kasnyia. He is set to take his oath of office before the Emperor next week and is reportedly already forming his cabinet to be approved by the Imperial Senate.

And now we go to the streets of Guranburg, where the crowds have gone wild!

"LUDO! LUDO! LUDO! LUDO!"

"It's absolutely mad here. Like a great big party!"

"Meh."

"Yellows can never get it together..."

"LUDO! LUDO! LUDO! LUDO!"

And that's the election folks! May the new government fare well.

-- This has been as KNS Special Report --

OOC-

Finally. Feel free to post about it if anyone wants to.
