Caliph Suleman ibn Tariq

For the entire day, this entire long day, the Caliph Suleman had only gotten the same single impression from the men named Diego and Prince Abbas. Just like the representative from Salik, he had not gotten a good feeling or closeness of any type to them, he was very disappointed. But now, he was just plain sad. "Diego, this is just..." He could not even express this feeling. "Stop it with this excuse of humanitarian! Just plain stop it. I remember my great father, the ruler of my land before me. I remember the very first thing he taught me about ruling a Kingdom. He told me to help the people, help the people, and help the people. He told me how you must bring them help, and be sure to have their loyalty, for if I would ignore that, the empire of our fore-fathers would crumble into dust like a river decomposes the sand beds into nothing. What is a King without the people? You are not the only one who knows how it feels to be responsible for a peoples. 'My father got this message from his father, who got it from he father, who got it from his father etc etc. Even in the early days of the Nile lands, when my people got this idea of unity, they understood how they must act together to survive. You are not the only person in this room who feels this burden, this weight of the struggle of the sick, starving, and helpless." The Caliph stepped back, and called forward a man from his advisers, "This is my friend and my brother, Uthman bin Tariq, he shares my blood. Uthman, tell these men what our father told us." "As the Cailph has stated, we are brothers by blood and faith. I remember our dead father, may God bless him, he used to teach us a lot about leadership. He used to tell us how our first king, took the banner of Faith and united these men. From that day, the kings our told how to respect our people. Our very laws of Direct Democracy states that every single law is chosen by the people!" Uthman stepped back and joined the other advisers. Suleman began to speak again, "As for the hostility that has been shown by you, I like my brother from Salik also does not like this fact. You can not enter an area without the acknowledgement of the people already there. Do you enter a house without asking the owner if he can enter? You do, and like that you must be properly received into a location, which in this case serves as Sinai. For all we would know, due to this sudden coming, you could have been a terrorist group, may God forgive. I do not know where you come from, but in these lands, we have proper customs and ethics, which includes announcing yourself before you begin to do such an act. 'But instead you accuse us with insults! You accuse us for coming here for war, but the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has said for it be lawful to fight in self-defense. We can here for our defense, for the defense of our citizens, and the defense of this very region!" |

Salam nodded in agreement with the Caliph. "Humanitarian aid? You offer these people water, only to bind them in chains to an exiled Prince. We see through your ruse; humanitarian aid does not come with a sword. I do not believe these people will trade their freedom for your money and your shackles. If you truly believed in the self determination of the Sinai people, you would drop your arms and open immediate elections. By all accounts, you have no right to the ownership of this land. Unless you can prove your rights to your land, then your moral and legal authority is worth nothing." A messenger from Salik arrived, only momentarily interrupting the meeting as he whispered into Salam's ear. Salam smirked as he whispered back. The messenger left as quickly as he arrived. "I apologize for the interruption. Again, I would like to reiterate that we are more than willing to treat you as equals and as brothers. But first we must establish respect." ---------- The blades of the helicopter cut through the warm, dusty night, penetrating deep into the dark horizon of the Sinai. Unaware of what was to come, the remaining militants slept soundly, confident in their perceptions of security. Once home to luxurious seaside casinos and hotels during the time of the Romans, the sleepy town of Taba was now little more than a transit center. Plagued by the constant raids and occupation by AIM, Taba was a city of ruin, little more than a shell filled with the hatred and sins of men. The helicopters carrying the holy men descended silently upon this modern Gomorrah. The city was to be purified and cleansed, rid of the people who sought to harm humanity. Long since abandoned by the good citizens of the Sinai, Taba was only home to the sleeping militants. Recent months have seen a gradual withdrawal by AIM in response to the onslaught by the Finaa Order. However the moratorium on raids set by the Salik government due to crisis with the Exiles had prompted the return of many militants. The first shots lit up the night near the edge of town where the helicopters first laid down the members of the Finaa. This kushdash moved fast, securing the streets while the support teams cleared the buildings. Another attack soon followed, with Finaa storming the meager coastal defenses. The militants of AIM, once with a solid hold of the city, was forced to retreat to the west. The terrorists were cut down by the paid Bedouin militiamen as they fled the city. Soon enough, the last shot was fired as the sun rose in the east from the land of Salik, purifying the city with its holy light. The Finaa Order purified thrice that night. Simultaneously, the small towns and the AIM inhabitants of Taba, al-Kuntillah, and Ayn al-Qusaymah all fell to the order. Engineering Corps were flown in later the next day and began extensive repairs and construction of defenses. Local Bedouin tribesmen were enlisted as a bulwark against any AIM counter-offensives. Then, the convoys arrived. As the dust cleared, the ambitious men and woman who made up the settling force began their work. |
