Posted Image International Sufi Missions Announced Jerusalem - From a press conference in their headquarters today, the Ma'arifah Brotherhood has announced that it will begin a massive international missionary program. The Ma'arifah Brotherhood, a Muslim Sufi organization, was founded roughly a decade before the collapse of the Roman Empire and has a played a crucial role in Levantine society. Historically, the Ma'arifah Brotherhood was one of the major forces in the independence movement that forced out the Roman and European influence. The Brotherhood was responsible for providing public services, the creation of schools and hospitals and mosques, and various humanitarian efforts that the Romans were unable or unwilling to handle. Such actions brought them a massive following, allowing Sufism to prosper and secure its hold of the Levant as the predominant faith. The first mission is set to begin in two weeks. The Sufi missionaries will provide much needed humanitarian relief to the less fortunate, in addition to promotion of the Sufi faith. Centers for the missions have already been constructed in most of the major cities, and are expected to be fully staffed and running by the end of the week. The missionary work is also expected to expand to surrounding countries and the remainder of the Middle East by the beginning of the summer months. Intelligence officials have denied any connections between the Shahood Agency and the Ma'arifah Brotherhood. Edited by meh, Oct 16 2013, 07:52 PM.

Posted Image Jerusalem - Following a statement released by President Sufjan Qutb, the government began an intensive subsidies program aimed at creating jobs and promoting the industrial power of the republic. President Qutb described the program as "massive" with "hundreds of contracts and sub-contracts," many of which have gone towards a new military industrial complex. The program, much of which is focused on naval and shipping exploits, is projected to dramatically increase industrial power and both the naval and land capabilities of the Republic's military. Older and abandoned Roman factories and industry will be refitted and reformed, in addition to many other new manufactories. On a more secretive level, many analysts are claiming that the industrial push is additionally serving as a cover for the creation of a new nuclear program. A large influx of mining prospects in the Negev suggests that the uranium-rich desert will be serving as the basis for such a program. While no nuclear testing sites or power plant have been reported, the administration is remaining silent on the issue. |

Posted Image Jerusalem - In an expected move today, President Sufjan Qutb confirmed the existence of the Finaa Order, a former paramilitary group that played a major part in the formation of the Republic. During the collapse of the Roman Empire, President Qutb and other high level military and governmental officials served as the backbone and the leadership of the Order, undermining the remaining Roman military and other opposition groups. The Finaa were able to succeed in solidifying power in the post-collapse Levant, allying with the influential Ma'arifah Brotherhood. The Finaa Order has historically relied on a doctrine known as khushdash, a secret brotherhood that transcends all aspects of one's life. The Sufi-dominated Order went on to win key elections in the first elections of the Republic's history. Before Qutb's announcement today, the Finaa had no official acknowledgement from the Qutb administration, despite its prevalence and apparent existence. President Qutb went further than just the confirmation of its existence, by announcing the completion of a secret military base for the Finaa Order. Other information suggests that the Finaa Order will continue with its historical precedent of selectively using orphans and other wards as the primary methods of recruitment. Recruits, upon confirmation in the Order, will be trained in the military arts and the Sufi religion until the age of 18, and then must serve for 2 years of active duty in the Finaa. Recruits who leave will be disbanded from the Order and have their rank stripped from them. Military officials have confirmed that the Finaa will be used as the nation's premier special forces. |

Posted Image Troops preparing for a raid on AIM locations Aqaba - The military officially begins operations in south Salik today, highlighting a new focus on combating extremist forces in the region. The operation, now known as Operation Desert Dawn, primarily addresses the emerging problem of the Arab Independence Movement, or AIM. AIM has been linked to several high level assassinations in neighboring countries, and many in the Salik government fear that the violence will spread to the Republic. Although AIM and its operations have been largely conducted in Semitistan, recently seized communications suggest that their headquarters have been moved to Jerusalem and southern Salik. Since earlier this early, the military has been operating near Jerusalem, in attempts to drive AIM from Salik territory. Operation Desert Dawn now stands as an official recognition of AIM, where beforehand it was regarded only as rumor. Leaked documents suggest that the military has been involved in limited engagements with the terrorist organization earlier in Jerusalem, and the new Operation will attempt to trap the terrorists between the North and the South. Despite these operations, AIM appears to growing rapidly, with several groups advocating their goals of separatism on the newly rising social media in the country. These groups have seen wide support from older Sunni Arabs. Many Arab separatist groups predate the Salik Republic, and a consolidation of these groups with AIM will prove to be disastrous to the stability of the new Republic. Some government officials and generals have been calling for a ban on these groups and their websites, in order to pressure them against consolidation. Sunni Muslims have been the largest demographic in support of AIM, while the majority Sufi population has been overtly against the terror group. This surge of AIM threatens the fragile religious and demographic landscape of the Levant. President Sufjan Qutb has repeatedly called for unity throughout the country in attempt to quell the growing social unrest. |

Posted Image Salikan cruisers preform naval drill of the coast of Tripoli Tripoli - The Republic's Naval forces began military exercises off the coast of Tripoli today. The exercises demonstrated the operational power of the newly created Navy of the Republic of Salik. With what began as initiative spearheaded by President Qutb and his administration led to an influx of governmental revenue being pumped into the defunct navy that was left over by the old Roman government. The Naval exercises began after an unknown explosion sunk many CMESS and Scythirian vessels, although the Qutb administration has denied all connection between the incidient and military exercises. Analysts are instead suggesting that the exercises are aimed at defensive or offensive action against the New Roman Empire, due to the close proximity to Roman-controlled Cyprus. |

Posted Image Jerusalem - In a surprising move today, President Sufjan Qutb submitted a piece of legislation to Congress, establishing a Conscription in the Republic of Salik. The move surprised most members of Congress, as volunteer rates in the Republic were already considered high. Despite the surprise, few senators initially objected to the legislation. Most opposition to bill originated from the far-left parties, some calling it "redundant" and "unnecessary," while others deemed it "morally unsound." A conscription program had been previously debated during the creation of the constitution, though it was abandoned due to the long traditional of military volunteerism amongst the youths of the region. This legislation arrives in a time of increasing tensions with neighboring countries and the Sinai. Despite ongoing negotiations, the stand-off in the Sinai has remained bitterly hostile. In a recent move by the military, the Finaa Order assaulted and took control of several towns on the border of the Sinai, escalating tensions between the Exiles and the Republic of Salik. Qutb defended the actions of the Finaa and the military, stating that the operations were commonplace in the peninsula, and were only halted due to the "invasion" of the Sharooqis. The Salik government also entered talks between the CMESS and the Republic of Porcu, after Confederate and Scythirian ships were sunk, allegedly by the Porcuian military. Some analysts are predicting that the implementation of the draft will only serve to escalate the conflicts further. The Conscription, set to be fully implemented within two months if passed, will dramatically increase the number of soldiers in the Salik army. Proponents of the legislation are arguing that the draft will present more opportunities for youth, given the number of roles the military fills in Salik society and government. Currently, all members of Congress and the Qutb administration are former or current members of the military or the pre-government militias. The bureaucracy is seen in a similar light, with former and current members involved in all levels. Some members of Congress raised opposition this advancement of ultra-militarization in Salik society, though others openly praised it, citing the cohesiveness and stability of the rising military industrial complex. This program is planned to establish a co-ed draft, installing youths into all aspects of the military, depending on initial tests. All people aged 18 - 25 will be inducted initially, eventually moving to a system requiring all citizens to enroll after their 18th birthday. Draftees will be pulled from both genders, regardless of religious affiliation or conscientious objections, and will be required to serve three years in any branch of the greater Salik military. Active duty service will not be solely devoted to military endeavors. Draftees will be required to attend a public university, while those who score high enough will attend private universities, which will continue after active duty service. After active service, draftees are shifted to reserve forces, and are required to maintain small weapon caches in residences, in addition to regular maintenance and training. Citizens will remain in the reserve force until the age of 40, and may be called upon at anytime to serve. Despite initial opposition, the legislation is predicted to pass on a bipartisan level. Posted Image Tripoli - At a press conference outside of the Naval headquarters, Press Secretary Shaul Amit announced an expansion of the Mediterranean Air Defense Identification Zone (MADIZ). This announcement comes just days after a nuclear warhead was detonated in the CMESS capital of Trebizond, completely leveling the majority of the city. The attack was allegedly perpetrated by a terrorist organization known as the Transcontinental Contingent Group. The organization made headlines earlier in the year when they freed war criminal and the former Dominion leader Konstantin Ganz Gassel. Recently a transnational task force was created to track down this fugitive, who is considered to be highly dangerous. The expansion of the MADIZ is set to be formalized sometime next week, with enforcement of the new zone to be implemented with specialized ship-based radar systems. These radar systems will be utilized to identify, locate, and control all aircraft and objects within the zone. Greatly expanded beyond Salik's territorial waters, this zone will allow for an increased response time towards any object within the zone deemed as a threat to security. Specialized ships will be in constant patrol, creating a constant radar blanket over the zone, supported by military aircraft. The expansion has been criticized by certain academics and politicians, who fear it could incite additional tension with surrounding countries, due to the overlap into territorial water. No official comment has yet been made by foreign officials. Additionally, rumors have spread stating the desire to build a variety of sea based platforms, able to house specialized radar systems and airforce capabilities. |

Posted Image Jerusalem - After months of speculation and rumors, the Qutb administration recently verified the existence of a Salik Nuclear Program. Various reports have surfaced in prior months hinting that a program was underway, specifically pointing towards secretive construction in the Negev desert. Until now, public officials have refused to speak on the matter. In a public press conference, President Sufjan Qutb confirmed the existence of such a program, while denying other rumors. On the forefront of the rumors, Qutb confirmed that the nuclear program would encompass multiple fields, especially those of weaponization and energy production. The President was quick to defend the program, claiming that it is the sovereign right of the Salik people to further technological advancements that would ensure stable prosperity and credible defense. Reportedly, the nuclear program is highly dependent on the salvaged ruins of the old Roman Empire, Other rumors, particularly the ones detailing the construction of nuclear installations and research centers in the Negev, were denied by Qutb. The reports of installations were instead attributed to the numerous government-led oil expedition in the region. This announcement comes in a dire time, with increased tensions with the AIM terror group along the Semitistan-Salik border, and the destruction of the CMESS capital by Dominion terrorists. Critics were skeptical about the new program, speculating that it might encourage other regional powers to seek nuclear weapons as well. Others were concerned about the newly created ICON Standing Committee, and suggest that the program might face increased scrutiny. In an ending statement, President Qutb called upon foreign nations to assist in the Salik program. |

Posted Image Jerusalem - Under orders given by the Qutb administration, thousands of eligible citizens reported for conscription this weekend. Following a speech given by President Qutb, conscripts were rapidly mobilized as a preemptive measure against Whaladyan-Libyan Colalition (WLC)troops. Despite demands for a ceasefire, coalition forces have continued military operations in Nicosia, the Yoloyese capital. After several closed-door discussions with Congress, President Qutb announced a 72 hour deadline for the ceasefire. Stressing the need for mediation, Qutb advocated unilateral intervention if the international community could not come together to prevent Whaladyan and Libyan aggression:
Although deserters have proven to be sparse, the relatively new conscription program ran slower than previously expected. Established less than a year ago, the program has been labelled as largely unfinished, with many aspects still needing implementation. New conscripts will be delegated to support positions, while the standing military will retain the responsibility of regular duties. Those not selected for immediate duty have been placed on high alert, and have been ordered to stockpile munition in their private residences. Edited by meh, May 1 2014, 08:36 AM.

Posted Image Jerusalem - Striking the heart of the Sufi nation, the Arab Independence Movement has taken credit for a series of bombings within the capital’s public transportation system. This attack marks the first success of AIM to plan and coordinate an attack within the Republic since their alleged relocation from Semitistan to Southern Salik. The highly publicized military operation, known as operation Desert Dawn, was attributed by many officials to the decline of AIM in the Salik and their flight back to Semitistan. Other operations in the Sinai were hailed as successes against AIM, although this new attack may embolden the various separatist groups in the Republic. Most other terror groups have fallen under a loose umbrella organization with AIM as the head, although that collective could strengthen in the wake of their recent attack. The attacks occurred on Thursday evening during rush hour, with three separate bombs detonated, two on buses and another on the railway. Although unconfirmed, reports coming are placing the death toll at 87, with hundreds other injured. While officials are still investigating the attack, they are confirming that the AIM operatives entered Salik through the Semitistan border. Presdient Qutb has promised retaliation for those responsible. Edited by meh, Sep 9 2014, 12:39 PM.

Posted Image Jerusalem - In the aftermath of several transnational terror attacks, President Aaron Mordechai of Semitistan Federation is expected next week to announce a comprehensive cooperation pact with the Republic of Salik. Both nations were recent victims of the Arab Independence Movement (AIM), who launched a multitude of attacks on the two states, crippling public transportation and instilling an air of fear. Despite the heavy progress made against AIM within Salik and Semitistan, the frequency and intensity of the attacks have not subsided. Salik has bared the larger brunt of these attacks, although sources within the intelligence community claim that AIM forces are significantly greater within Semitistan. The two presidents have met several times over the past months, and while no details have emerged about the pact, some analysts are predicting that it will be heavily focused on military cooperation. Such an agreement would see several joint forces and intelligence commands working together to root out the deeply ingrained AIM elements that have caused inordinate amounts of damage and casualties. A select number of generals within the Semitic government have voiced their opposition to this pact, claiming it would be a gross violation of their national sovereignty. Other analysts believe that this agreement is a political move by Mordechai, allowing him to solidify his power over the growing number of discontent generals and politicians. President Sufjan Qutb of Salik has vaguely commented on the issue, noting that cooperation between the two countries was critical to the overall stability of the region, which has recently been plagued by wars of aggressions and annexation. The same generals calling out their opposition to the pact have also criticized Qutb, alleging that the Salik president had been using the Ma'arifah Brotherhood, a Sufi Islamic organization based in the Republic, to foster popular support for the agreement while slowly converting the Jewish and Sunni people. The Brotherhood has sharply dismissed all allegations, and instead has stated that its actions within Semitistan and other countries are solely for humanitarian and spiritual purposes, while being completely independent of the Salik government. Meanwhile, an anonymous spokesperson for the AIM group declared their opposition to the agreement, promising and prolonged and deadly insurgency if it was to be implemented. Posted Image Jerusalem - Following the assassination of Semitistan’s President Aaron Mordechai, Salik forces crossed the border into the country last night in an attempt to pacify the AIM insurgency. Salik President Sufjan Qutb spoke yesterday on the subject, citing the proposed agreement between the two nations are justification for the intervention. Despite the lack of an official signature, he argued, the treaty was fully agreed upon and fleshed out, and that this intervention falls legally within this bilateral pact. The remainder of President Mordechai's government has been outspokenly supportive of Qutb's statements, claiming that the intervention was requested, is fully legal, and is necessary to stabilize the government. Several generals within Semitistan’s armed forces, however, have shown outrage. Stating that the intervention is a complete violation of their national sovereignty, those generals have been adamant since last week that the pact was unconstitutional under Semitic law. The Salik military, Qutb additionally commented, will primarily serve a role as peacekeepers, preventing a total collapse of President Mordechai's government while performing counterinsurgency operations. From recents reports, airstrikes have occurred in several areas, signaling the arrival of the Salik forces. While insurgent positions have been widely targeted, some witnesses claim that Semitic military positions have been attacked by the airstrikes. |
