The Sacred Holy Empire of Scythirus was never so easily intimidated, as shown by its response: "This conflict does not concern you. Porcu seeks to exercise its power over the Middle East and we shall show it the error of its ways with or without your assistance. The Sacred Holy Empire has no reason to answer to you and we shall take the appropriate actions against your nation if a single shot is fired at our forces." - The Scythirian Foreign Ministry |

Negotiations are currently underway in Yozgat in Central Anatolia and the Republic will forward any and all relevant details regarding the discussions and will forward copies of the minutes at the conclusion of the negotiations. Orders have been provided to the Self-Defense Forces of the Republic and any movement of men or matériel through Abnari airspace or sovereign waters in future will be transmitted to Abnari authorities. ... Last of the major representatives to arrive at the negotiations was a fast rising star in the Liberal Democratic Party of Porcu and a former quaestor. A rather portly individual with a receding hairline, Marcus Tullius Cicero was grotesque to look at for extended periods of time. Cicero was blunt, quick to anger, and rather unreceptive of others - things which made one wonder exactly how much of a Porcuian he was. Yet, the middle-aged and rotund man was exceptionally sharp and possessed a tongue that cracked like a whip. He had destroyed a rival's political aspirations on more than one occasion. Only a bare bone staff of his choosing accompanied the newly elected aedile, whose presence was possibly a cause for shock, concern, or resentment from the other individuals who had gathered in Yozgat. Such delicate negotiations would normally be seen through by a consul or, at most, a praetor. What was an aedile doing conducting such high-level discussions? And what did it say that such a quick-tongued individual had been chosen as the official representative for the Republic? "Greetings." Cicero said in a very cheerful tone to Secretary Tiku of the East African Federation, capping his enthusiastic handshake with a smile. |

"Welcome to Yozgat, I do not believe we have had the pleasure of meeting before" Secretary Tiku stated as he smiled and shook hands. "I am Tedros Tiku of the Federation of African Nations. You must be the representative from the Republic of Porcu. I have not had the pleasure of meeting our hosts of the CMESS nor their allies, the Scythirian representative. I have heard the stories of these Scythirians and their ruthless nature, I am sure they will be relentless at the negotiating table. Still, I have brought my war paint and am ready for the battle" the Secretary began to chuckle. |

"Let us hope, gentlemen," Cumali interrupted, "that it does not proceed any closer to that." He greeted Secretary Tiku warmly, but the Porcuian's cold stare met Cumali's and shook the Advisor, even if not visibly. Cumali herded everyone into their seats and the representatives began their discussion. "Friends, we have met here today to resolve the issues between the Republic of Porcu and the CMESS. First and foremost, the legitimacy of the Batiya expansion. Secondly, the incident in the Sea of Cadiz." OOC: Abnar, you're welcome to join in with your representatives if you would like to join the conference. |

OOC: Be our guest. IC: Farhang Malfisto Emmanulas took his seat at the table, boasting that smug, confident smile so typical of Scythirians. He knew that his country had the strength to back up any word he declared here and he knew that everyone here knew it as well. A lot of countries liked to talk big, but few possessed the true power to back such talk up and Scythirus had power in strength. Nations shut up and took notice when the Sacred Holy Empire flexed its muscles and it regularly made sure that it maintained that respect that it commanded by any means necessary. |

Yusuf Salam, the Foreign Minister of Salik, arrived to the meeting and sat quietly while the rest of the delegation spoke. He observed the others present, taking note of their subtle mannerisms that were projected into the room. A skilled diplomat, Salam knew his place. He was no important figure in this conflict, nor did Salik have any immediate investment in the crisis. His voice in the matter was small, and though he would make his presence and his interests known, it was far preferable to remain on the outside until he was called into the fray. Instead, Salam's presence served as another of the Republic's foray into regional affairs. As a relatively new nation, the Republic of Salik was making leaps and bounds into friendly relations with surrounding nations, although they were far behind the established state institutions. Salam had his orders, and he knew the position his country had on the crisis. Despite this, his authority in the government was enough to sway the higher powers, and the talks here could define Salik's position in the region. |

"Yes" said Secretary Tedros Tiku, "but may I first say thank you to the Confederacy of the Middle Eastern Socialist States for allowing this conference. Warfare and the use of force is a dangerous practice that cost the lives of not only those trained for such but also the innocent to whom our governments have sworn to protect. It is the Federation's sincerest hope that these talks will prevent such senseless violence and that together, our nations can provide for a solution not only beneficial for all governments involved but also for the general public of concern, that specifically being that of the people of Anatolia effected by this expansion." "Now, with that said I feel it would be best conducive to these talks with first both sides were given the floor to voice their immediate concerns as well as their sides arguments. I would first like to release the floor to the CMESS so as to make their arguments and concerns over their expansion. Once completed, I would then like to turn the floor to the representative of Porcu, to voice their concerns and arguments. I would ask that these two parties alone, for now, be given the floor." The Secretary then turned to Cumali to acknowledge he had the floor. The Secretary had chosen his words carefully, choosing not to specifically acknowledge the Scythirians nor the Salik Minister. Alienating both was a dangerous game to play but the Secretary knew that the Scythirians themselves responded to force, bold actions. It was doubtful he'd gain their respect by the time the conference was concluded but if he could at least show that the democratic nation of Afirca would not be easily bullied then perhaps he could help to create better communication between themselves and the Scythirian Empire. This was particularly of interest to the Federation given that their position of straddling both Africa and the Middle East would inevitably put them in situations were they would have to deal with the Scythirians often. |

"Honorable delegates," Cumali began "this incident is a result of Porcu's imperialism and nothing else. Porcu has no business in Anatolia, or indeed anywhere in the Middle East. In response to the Confederate defiance of Porcuian hegemony, Porcu attacked and killed Confederate and Scythirian sailors in the Gulf of Cadiz. This is unacceptable." "This conference is a last resort, and unless Porcu is willing to recognize the Confederacy of Middle Eastern Socialist States as the legitimate owner of Anatolia and pay reparations to Scythirus and the Confederacy for the men and goods lost, it will come to war." "The people of Anatolia are happy under Confederate rule, and this is not a question of democracy. It is a question of European dominance, something I'm sure the African people can sympathize with." |

(OOC): This thread should be continued, and seeing that it is in the middle of a meeting, it would be a good time. Also, I would like to join the meeting. CMESS and Scythirus being major states, with degrees of power, I need to get my name into the situation. If there is anything happening in Sea, like the Cadiz incident, I wanna do some influencing, no matter how small. So I wanna join the meeting. (IC): With these recent major events happening in the middle east, regarding the Confederacy, Scythirus and Porcu, having attracted many major nations, the news quickly reaches Suleman, the leader of the Egyptian Caliphate. The problem is turning into a problem of naval and regional dominance, is only more reason for the Caliphate, being interested in all events being staged in the sea, to join the discussion. Involvement in regional situations, and meetings, should get him into some position to scout the area. The Caliph took off with only his advisor of warfare and conflict, Haris bin Mansur, due to only having a small role in the meeting. The two men reached the meeting, and putting on a smile, greeted the delegates in the room before taking a seat. Like Yusuf Salam, the two men's impacts would be incredibly low. With the Caliphate, not being politically, or much geographically involved in the event, the Caliph knows how to stay quiet, but make his opinion known. But even all the rivers, seas, and oceans can keep the country, keeping its nose out of national, regional, and international affairs, especially in land occupation. The two men sat, on two chairs, and started listening attentively as to what was going in the room, hearing each and everyone's opinion, and knowing what to do. |

OOC: KS, while this story is certainly far from over, the meeting actually is. It was broken up due to the The Annihilation of Trebizond side story that occurred just as we were starting the meeting. The ambassadors have all since been released from the CMESS and returned to their home countries. However, if Margrave is willing, I wouldn't mind hosting another summit and kick-starting the negotiations once more. |
