Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope everyone has the chance to spend the holiday with family. If not, I hope people have friends good enough to take them in for the holiday. Spending Thanksgiving alone is no good at all. Regardless, gorge yourself and be merry, NSWR members! |

Take that there pecan pie and cover it with milk chocolate chips, not the semi-sweet dark kind, but sweet milk chocolate chips, and with a tall glass of milk on the side. Mmm, yes, to be consumed after the tryptophan has thoroughly kicked in. |

I can't bring food to this gathering, but I do have a goodly amount of Pendleton whiskey. More than a goodly amount, actually. Which is good because drinking will, more than likely, account for the only calories I have today. "Meh" indeed, AA. Hopefully everyone else has the opportunity to spend the holiday with family and close friends. |

We're having a 21 pound turkey at my house. I'm sure it'll be tasty good! That said, what is with most Americans (it seems) having Thanksgiving dinner at lunch? It's so weird. We're having it soon, probably at 6. |

We ate around 6 ourselves. Food was good, though the family getting together is always awkward as fuck. |

I know what you mean... there hasn't been any incidents yet, and I'm hoping there will be none, but... I know what you mean. |

I was lucky enough to get today off (Sprint didn't feel like paying me 2.5x my normal hourly wage today instead of just normal holiday pay), so my dad and I were going to go to Golden Corral or some buffet place today. The lines were out into the parking lot. Instead, we just went and got some steaks. Turned out better IMO. And we ate around 5-ish. |

I can't speak for other people, as my Thanksgiving experience is decidedly non-standard. But when I had Thanksgiving with family and friends back home, we started at late-lunchtime because Thanksgiving was an all-day affair. You gather 25 people. Everyone stands around and drinks good booze while the finishing touches are being put on the food. The meal itself lasts for 1.5 to 2 hours. Then a select group pitches in on the dishes. And then there's pie and more drinking. With my group of friends, we could probably start at 9pm and accomplish the same thing. But old people being old people, we start early and have a good time. |

We cut out getting together with extended family for that very reason, being just my immediate family makes holidays a lot more....quieter..... We ate around 6 ourselves, we've always done a more traditional dinner time meal but that might only be due to the fact that we're too lazy to wake up earlier to get the meal done my lunchtime  |

2:00 "dinner" at my brother's with all the peeps, about 18 or 19 people. 22lb turkey (only finished about half - everyone is older now so we don't eat as much). Had great fun baiting my liberal, pro-union, anti-capitalist, Obama voting cousin! I had to slow down after a while because I thought I might give him a stroke. My Mom's birthday was the day before, turned 94 - she's in great health but the mind is slipping a bit, but it was so good seeing her. My niece is getting married in March, so I had to terrorize her future husband as only a crazy uncle can do! All in all, I had a delightful, though fattening time. Turkey sandwiches just before bed, of course, is the grand fanale! |
