Harumf, I'm about to log on - I will add you. After that, I'm delegating leadership back to E, if he doesn't mind. E: The quest was to make some business scrolls or something like that. I used my tailor's improvement ability - I had to accumulate 4K points. Edit I invited Harumf and gave Eastanarx back leadership. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Nov 13 2012, 04:41 PM.

Also, I am going to make a strategic investment based on my cash windfall - I am going to add a third craftsman. Based on our guild's needs, should I add a blacksmith or a sorceress? |

I think I'm currently the only one with a sorceress. Both E and NH have blacksmiths, I believe. I'm not sure how their earning potentials stack up though. |

Sorceress it is. At least two of us should each craftsman, so that we can get our improvements worked. Currently, if you need a sorceress to improve your additions, no one else has one. That will change. By the way, it's nice that this game doesn't give me any lazy ways to blow the extra cash. I can't think of anything to do with it other than hoard it or invest in the business, which simplifies things a bit for me. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Nov 13 2012, 06:06 PM.

I've mostly been hoarding it, but it seems like business is a little slow at the city gates, so maybe it's time to start investing. |

I would suggest hoarding enough that you have cushion against any bad luck that might befall you, but otherwise channel it into improvements so that you can make more money. Now that we have a guild, we can help each other with improvements :) |

Speaking of improvements, you guys finished my suggestive draperies and they look fabulous. :P Thanks, Al and Rhad. Yeah, I would say a sorceress is definitely the better choice, and I'll have my craftsfolk start building your sorceress' digs right away, Rhad. EDIT: By the way, we seem to be winning some kind of guild challenge pretty heftily at the moment, though it's supposed to last for another RL day and 10 hours, so even our 30k lead could be overcome in that time. I don't know what the prize is, but I think we want it... Also, these high salaries I'm paying everyday are keeping me stagnant around 10k, (my "I feel safe" number.) So, since I just got them to the point where it only takes them 1 hour to produce their smallest jointly-produced items, I'm going to hold off on leveling my dudes up for a while and see if I can't start being profitable again. I just mention this as a kind of warning for you, Rhad, as I can imagine that having to pay a third employee similarly high wages could really start to hurt. Yeah, good point. I'm probably going to try to hire a low level sorceress to start with and hope that the extra sales opportunities will outweigh the extra salary. Edit: Thanks for improving my sorceress' shop, guys! I just need a 1K cooperation points from a sorceress now. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Nov 14 2012, 10:10 AM.

Given that our guild now has 90k+ in sales and second place has less than 5k, I daresay this guild competition is in the bag. I have no idea what the prize is if we win though. |

Not exactly. But, from the guild screen, you can "view" the guild's members, which will give you info about us. And from each of your workers, you can select "improve" and then select one of the improvements one of us has purchased to help improve our shops. Speaking of which, I try to spend my improvement points as efficiently as possible, (which doesn't always happen if research takes so long that they max out,) but since it's not always clear how much is still required and it's possible to overspend, I'll usually spend them in increments of 250, 500, or 1000 at a time to keep track. Probably doesn't matter all that much, but thought I'd share anyway. Also, I noticed you had employed a thug, Rhad, how's that working out for you? Did another player attack you? Thanks for your help on my racks, by the way. |

E: I don't think it is possible to overspend - I'm pretty sure I've "overspent" several times, and gotten back the excess points. I may be wrong though. As for the thug, he's low enough level that his salary doesn't count for much and I like having him stand in the back of the store and look intimidating. No real reason. Edit: I did some more tests - I am right about cooperation points. If you overspend, you get the extra points back. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Nov 14 2012, 03:33 PM.

I went on the wiki to do some research about the guild challenge. Basically, the winners over two day periods get license points, which can be used to improve the guild and provide more membership benefits. Sounds good to me. It also says that you start out with 5 license points for a new guild. E, can you check the license point screen if you haven't already? I didn't pay any attention to that when I was leader.

Thanks for testing that overspending thing, Rhad. That's somewhat relieving as I just f*ed up slightly by hiring a new carpenter. As far as license points goes, I spent the first five on "alliances" which raises the maximum number of members from 1 to 4. Next time I'm on I'll check it and see if we can afford the next upgrade. I think we get the choices of "cooperation" or "aggression" or "protection." |

Yeah, no license points yet, but I reckon we'll get some from winning this challenge. "Aggression" and "protection" give bonuses to the thug's violence/thieving/spying and defensive scores respectively, while "cooperation" helps craftsmen generate coop points faster and produce jointly-produced items faster. Any thoughts on what you'd like to see bought first? I've managed to get into a profitable rhythm lately since building a homeless shelter boosted me up 3 levels, and I'm almost done with the blacksmith's time building a bridge, so I should have spare blacksmith coop points to get rid of soon. Speaking of blacksmiths, how's it going, NH? Any chance you could spare some blacksmith time to improve my shop? |

... I'm requesting a split as there has been a very large amount of dialogue relating to cooperating on one specific game, hence it has gotten away from the topic of random game stuff. It's overwhelming the discussion of other games, putting to the side those of us who don't want to discuss this particular game, and thus detracts from the point of the thread. |

Select your blacksmith, select "improve," and then select my rack of blunt weapons. Thanks. By the way, you have to purchase the improvement you want first, and then your guildmates will be able to devote time to improving it. Edited by East Anarx, Nov 15 2012, 12:57 PM.

E - Cooperation sounds good to me for the license points. I don't think the thug related stuff is important for us yet. The option for allowing more people in the guild would be good if any other forumites want to play. Sed - I don't have time now to sort through this thread's posts, but I will split the thread later, if another moderator does not do it first (*eyes other moderators optimistically*). |

Cool. Thanks for all the improvements, guildmates. NH, if it's not already done, I'll get to it asap. I purchased "cooperation" with 5 of the 10 license points we earned from winning the last guild challenge, so you guys should notice a slight increase in the speed you gain coop points and a decrease in the time it takes to make items that require 2 or more craftsmen. This current guild challenge seems like it will be more challenging than the last. We're neck-in-neck, and things could get ugly if they decide to deploy thugs. |
