Posted Image Campaigning Begins, the future of Transcaucasia to be set Tibilisi: With the successful creation of the Treaty of Transcaucasia, the nations of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan have begun the process of integration as the new single state of Transcaucasia. In terms of integration, political factions have emerged and campaigning has begun to determine the new government of the state. Already a faction known as the National Unity Party has gained an early lead in polls across the region. "In this time of uncertainty, the peoples of the Transcaucasus need unity, they need strong leadership, and they need a political movement that clearly establishes for the people a future and purpose." party leader Mikail Isakhanli told supporters at a recent party rally. "We are that political party, we have a purpose and we have a plan for the future. Our party holds firm to the beliefs that are shared throughout the Transcaucasus and with the support of the people we will lead Transcaucasia out of obscurity and towards the international recognition they desire and deserve." The party, who began in Azerbaijan, has already spread and has numerous supporters in both Georgia and Armenia. Politically, the party is running on a platform which stresses the creation of a single, national face for Transcaucasia and promoting that nationalism over the current diversity of the region. Economically, they propose a third-way economic plan that mixes private enterprises with state-own industries. They stand strongly opposed to capitalism, communism, and some conservatism that has been promoted by other political factions building in opposition to them. Opposition members however, have criticized National Unity for being strong-handed in their politics and using scare tactics to get votes. Some have even gone as far as to accuse them of intimidation tactics used to discourage support for other factions. Perhaps the strongest opposition so far to National Unity are the United Conservatives, a monarchist faction that began out of Georgia and has made strong inroads into Armenia, marginal success with Azerbaijani. "The people of Transcaucasia deserve a successful, prosperous, and secure future. To this end, what Transcaucasia needs is a figure, a individual to whom can embody the values and beliefs all Transcaucasians hold dear. What this region, this new state needs, is a monarchy!" The United Conservatives, lead by Georgian Giorgi Babluani, are running on a policy of creating a monarchy for the region. They propose the recognition of Prince David Bagrationi II, son of Prince George Demetrevich Gruzinsky XIII and Princess Maria Alexandervicha Mukhrani. Though still an infant, Prince David is the first true Bagrationi Prince in generations. "The Bagrationi dynasty once brought peace to many territories of this region in the past and they can do it again. A monarchy ensure political stability and a bedrock on which we, the people, and build a future." The United Conservatives are strong supporters of Orthodox Christianity. Their platform emphasizes the role of free market decision making in fostering economic prosperity. They favor laissez-faire free markets, economic liberty, fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility, and policies supporting business. They express the belief that there should be a "safety net" to assist the less fortunate; however, they tend to believe the private sector is more effective in helping the poor than government is; as a result, support giving government grants to faith-based and other private charitable organizations to supplant welfare spending. The United Conservatives are pro-life and oppose abortion on religious and moral grounds, and favor faith-based initiatives. Other political factions that have begun campaign are the Democratic-Republicans, Mensheviks, and Communits. The Democratic-Republicans are running on a platform that emphasizes the role of free markets and individual achievement as the primary factors behind economic prosperity. They favor laissez-faire economics, diplomacy over military action, and religious freedom. They hold semi-secular values on issues such as marriage, developmental science and technology, and other issue that have religious ramifications. Immigration and cultural diversity is deemed positive and the Democratic-Republicans favor cultural pluralism, a system in which immigrants retain their native culture in addition to adopting their new culture. The Mensheviks and Communists, both old factions that have existed int he region for many generations, are both running on platforms that speak to the history of both political movements and the successes they've had in the past. The Mensheviks, however, has been said to be in talks with Democratic-Republican leaders though no official word has come out of either camp. The talks, some suggests, are in creating a political coalition between the two parties on their common platform of democratic values. Though the Mensheviks are a strong socialists political faction, many believe a Democratic-Republic alliance with the Mensheviks would help lead the two parties to success over National Unity and the United Conservatives. With the future of the region at stake, all factions intend to make it a bitter political battle until the end. Officials with the provisional government currently in place in Transcaucasia have stated that they feel very confident that everything need for a free and fair election across the region will be in place by the time of the scheduled elections, which is about two months away. "We already have election central offices overseen by our personnel in all three countries" David Marjanishvili, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Provisional Government said in a press conference earlier this week. "We are working diligently with the governments of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to complete a comprehensive data base of eligible voters. This data base will then be broken down into local districts and citizens will then be told where to go vote. The database will create a safeguard against voter fraud and other problems that could arise in this process." While outside observers are less confident about the regions ability to hold free and fair elections, it will nevertheless be interesting to see the results of this election as it will mark a new course of history for the region. OOC: OK so I'm looking to make this election a bit more interactive than elections that I've held in my various countries in the past. As per a deal during the conference, the Empire of Scythirus is funding the political party out of Azerbaijan, the National Unity faction, unbeknownst to anyone. At the same time, the Russians are pulling the same stunt and funding the National Conservative party. I have, since the Georgian War, made every attempt in portraying this region as a very unstable, volatile, and third-world style area. It is my desire to make this be one of the best, worst elections in our forums history, with many backdoor deals and illegal donations. So I've tried to outline the political parties as best I can, I feel they're all pretty clear cut in terms of their polices and political ideology. If you have any OOC questions on where they stand, please PM me. If you want to know where they would stand on an IC issue currently going on in the forums, then send a communique to that respective faction. If you'd like to start another faction to support some other ideology I've not touched then PM me about that and we'll hash something out. What I'm hoping is, that by the time the elections come, there will be many hands at work and I'll just some sort of method and randomly choosing a winner. Edited by NRE, Mar 4 2013, 12:01 AM.

OOC: Very Much so, although I think want I'm going to do is use some kinda of random system, like we used in the Olympics, to generate the winner. I'm just not sure how to go about that yet, that said feel free to RP contact with the respective party you wish to endorse covertly. And again, anyone else is invited to do the same! I'm hoping that by the time election day comes, there will be many hands trying to pull the strings. |

OOC: I know and I thank you sir. I believe I'll actually contact everyone whose already shown interested by PM and through out a few new ideas that I've had. IC: The money donated by supports in Aghaba was eagerly and happily received by the Democratic-Republicans. Their leader, Joseph Sarkisian, sends word back to Aghaba with thanks and praise to those supporters in the country and vows to establish relations with Aghaba once their party wins elections. ____________________________________________________________
____________________________________________________________ After receiving new funds from their generous benefactors, the Democratic-Republicans, National Unity Party, and the United Conservatives go on the attack against their political enemies, against each other. The Democratic-Republicans, under the leadership of Joseph Sarkisian use the funds already given to them by their Aghaba supports to launch aggressive ad campaigns against their enemies, particularly the National Unity and United Conservatives. Within a week it appears public opinion for both seems to be swaying and the Democratic-Republicans look to be emerging as a true contender for leadership. That said, the National Unity Party led by Mikail Isakhali uses his own new funds, both from the Scythirians and Al Whaladyans (OOC: Is that the right Demonym?) to begin his own campaign attacks. Primarily focused on what they thought was there only real threat, the United Conservatives led by Vladimir Tsutsunava. Though the campaigns work, some mixed with actual violence against United Conservative local supportes...violence that can't be actually traced back to National Unity, it also inadvertently helps the Democratic-Republicans as well. While these campaign battles rage, both the Mensheviks led by Meliton Zhordania and the Communists led by Zurab Akbar-Hazrat continue to push their own platforms forward but with minor successes. |

Haraud Amdell vacuumed the last few inches of Aleksandr Lazarev's office before unplugging the machine and looking over his work. In just an hour, the United Conservatives' treasurer would come in for work and find his office to be absolutely spotless, a net gain over the previous housekeeper that worked here. Unfortunately, this previous night would be the only night that Haraud would be working here. Not that they would need his services afterward, though—especially Aleksandr Lazarev most of all. He then packed up his equipment and left, his cart feeling slightly lighter that it did when he came in. The hour passed and right on schedule, Party Treasurer Aleksandr Lazarev arrived for work. He exchanged a few kind words with his secretary before heading into his office and was surprised to find it much cleaner than it usually was. He was so impressed, he made note to send his compliments to housekeeping to keep up whatever they had just done differently. Then he sat down and opened up his briefcase and pulled out the party financial records he had been looking over the previous night. It was several moments of sitting there that he noticed that something else seemed different; his leg kept bumping into something under his desk. Curious of what the offending item might have been, he scooted his chair back and leaned forward to peer under his desk. What he saw was an odd mechanical device wired to several block-shaped items wrapped in a silvery material. Horror overcame him when he realized what this was, especially when the numbers on the device counted down in the single digits: 00:06 00:05 00:04 00:03 00:02 00:01 00:00 Aleksandr didn't have enough time to escape. When the timer had reached zero, he was only halfway to his door, his desk several feet behind him. The explosion was massive and killed him instantly. It also fatally injured his secretary whose only protection had been the wall between her and the bomb. At a restaurant, a block down, Haraud was the only person smiling when he heard his bomb go off. Everyone else was rushing to the windows to see what happened. No less than the Foreign Minister of the Republic, a relatively young man with serious features, arrived in Transcaucasia at the termination of discussions in Prague. A minimalist tone was struck, as the Minister's accompanying group of aides and diplomats was rather small, which suited the hosts well, considering their own limited availability in accommodating Porcuian interests. Unpleasant weather dampened what would otherwise have been a spectacular arrival by airplane and a light but annoying rain greeted the Porcuian Minister as he met the group sent by the Provisional Government. Light introductions were exchanged and an agreeable personal atmosphere made their respective first impressions all the more positive. "Please, let us get out of the rain." The gentleman's rough English had been difficult to follow previously, but there was no mistaking his intentions as he waved his hand towards a motorcar that rested close by. "I want to thank you and the Central Committee for taking the time to host me. The Republic has taken great interest in the region as of late and hopes that an evolving Transcaucasia may prove to be a trusted and valued partner." |

Haraud Amdell flashed a smile to the chef as he was handed the plates for table 7 before making his way to it. Discretely in his movements as he dodged other waiting staff and patrons, he allowed a faint powder to sprinkle on one of the plates from a bottle concealed in his hand. Once he reached the table, he distributed each of the plates to the gentlemen and women seated there. With his task done, Haraud went on his break. No one working at that restaurant would ever see him return from that break. Niko Tordia, local leader of the Menshivik Party in Tbilisi smiled down his meal and began feasting as he discussed party business with his colleagues. Partway through the meal; however, he felt something was deeply wrong. He was suddenly sweating a lot and his vision was growing blurry. He kept wiping his forehead of sweat while he grew dizzy and nauseous. He tried to stand, but stumbled and his colleagues asked questions as concern for his health sparked in each of them. Suddenly he vomited the contents of his stomach before falling over from his chair in convulsions and ultimately dying. An obvious poisoning, the chefs and cooks were all questioned by authorities and inquiry on the waiter that served Niko's whereabouts was left unanswerable, as no one knew where he went. The only clue that the man they knew as "Sayi" left behind was his waiter's shirt that contained in a pocket a political button for the Democratic-Republicans. |

OOC: Oh and just as a heads up, these events are to be stretch over the course of roughly a year's time. I'm assuming this actual RP will only take a couple pages to do but that's the time frame I'm looking around. IC: She looked at her watch as she took one last puff of her cigarette. Crushing it underneath the heel of her shoes, she began walking down the sidewalk. It was cooler today and a brisk wind swept by her, prompting her to pull the collar of her jacket up and lower her head. A purse under her arm she didn't see the man as he crossed her path, the two bumping one another hard enough for her to drop her purse and he his briefcase. Cosmetics and paperwork went all over the ground, an exchange of sympathies came from both. "Oh my" said the rather attractive brunette as she batted her green eyes, "I am so sorry" "That's ok ma'am, you're not hurt are you" he said "Oh no, not at all" she said as she fumbled to clean up her things. The man did the same and after everything was cleaned and everyone brushed off, an exchange of smiles ended the encounter. Before leaving the man did happen to rubbed the backside of his neck as if to catch a fly but certainly it was too cold for such a nuisance. The woman continued on her way as well, walking several blocks before catching a taxi. After what amount to an otherwise uneventful walk to his office, Mikhail Seyidzadeh sat down at his desk and began rummaging through his briefcase for papers. He told his secretary he had a lot of work to do and he did not want to be disturbed at least for the next hour. She complied and only knocked on the door an hour later as lunch had arrived. Hearing no answer she opened the door to find Seyidzadeh hunched over his desk, the man was dead. _____________________________________________________________ Posted Image Campaigning Getting Ugly, Chairman Calls for Civility Tibilisi: Political assassinations within the last month have prompted Chairman David Marjanishvili of the provisional government to speak out, for the first time, since to the start of the campaign season. Urging restraint, civility, and peace; the Chairman's message was one of hope and one of warning for those hoping to subvert what otherwise could be the first free election in decades for the region. "These are certainly hopeful times for the peoples of Transcaucasia" Chairman Marjanishvili told reports at a press conference held just outside his office in Rustavi. "We draw ever closer, with the passing of each week, towards what will undoubtedly be an unprecedented point in our history and certainly one that all hope will herald in a new era for this region. However, as we look forward it seems that we cannot escape some of the darkest parts of our trouble past. The last few weeks have seen the death of several political leaders. While local law officials continue to bring those who have perpetrated these crimes to justice, I come to you with a request for peace. So many have already lost their lives to the differences that have divided us. Please do not spill more blood now while we are so close to achieving true peace in our lifetime." Though his tone at the beginning was somber, the Chairman was quick to point out the extent of his power. "While I may only head a provisional government, make no mistake that I am not without power. If I must I will use everything in my arsenal, diplomatic and otherwise, to ensure that this violence ends and that these elections go without incident." While the Chairman took questions from the media, the Q&A session was indeed short and the answers were even shorter. The Chairman's calls for peace and threats of action comes as both Niko Tordia of the Menshivik Party in Tbilisi and Mikhail Seyidzadeh of the National Unity Party in Baku were both assassinated in recent days. In Tordia's cause, evidence on the scene suggests the murder is connect to the Democratic-Republican Party. Party leader Joseph Sarkisian however has deny such actions as is accusing political rivals of attempting muddy the party's image, stating as such in a message released to the media. "This attack was in no way perpetrated by the Democratic-Republicans. We are a party of liberty, of freedom, of justice and there is no way that a member of our party would compromise these beliefs in such an atrocious way." In recent days, the Democratic-Republican party has been making headway in some polls. Many attribute their rising success on a new campaign strategy that has had them targeting more of the youth of the region as well as a string of new attack adds against rivals parties, specifically the National Unity and the United Conservatives who remain leading parties. Local officials in Tbilisi have refused to comment on the specifics of the case, as their investigation is still on going however, the police have released their own statements. "While our investigation remains on going, it is true that evidence implicating a member or members of the Democratic-Republicans have been found. However, as of yet we have made no arrests and are not implicating anyone at this time until we have all the evidence and a true picture of the events that unfolded." This is more than what officials have in the deaths of Mikhail Seyidzadeh of Baku, who was apparently also poisoned and there is still more questions than answers for the office bombing of Aleksandr Lazarev. These events however, as Chairman Marjanishvili pointed out, are not new events for the troubled history of Transcaucasia. Following the bloody Georgian War, the region has been embroiled with terrorism, political assassinations, and open warfare between nations and political groups. The total death toll following the Georgian war for the decades of violence may never be known but as elections draw every closer, many hope that the end of the violence era is upon them and the beginning of an era of peace is just over the horizon. Despite their loss, Menshevik leaders pledge to continue their fight for both their principles as well as their supports. This recent attack however, has left a hole in Tbilisi. Communists seem most geared to exploit this deficiency of the Mensheviks. Communist supports have been out in the city in full force. A literal explosion of supporters have taken to the streets and held small rallies to further their cause while others have taken to street corners where pamphlets are being passed out by the hundreds. Once seen as the last-place party of this electoral race, is now geared to put the Mensheviks behind them and soon threaten the Democratic-Republicans for a chance to contend against the front runners of the race as it now stands. _______________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________ After the more pleasantries and a short drive from the airport, the Porcuian delegations was shown to the small, modest building where the provisional government was currently being housed. Aides with umbrellas were on hand to show the Porcuians from the convoy vehicles into the reception hall of the building where Chairman Marjanishvili was waiting to greet them personally. "Welcome to Transcaucasia, I am Chairman David Marjanishvili and on behalf of the Central Committee may I express how honored we are to be hosting representatives from the Republic of Porcu." The Chairman was a man in his mid-50s, his suit barely hiding the age and rough-life that he wore as proudly as he could on his wrinkled face. After further pleasantries were exchanged, David showed the delegation into a smaller meeting room where modest refreshments were offered to his guests before they all took their seats. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Foreign Minister, again I cannot express my own personal pleasure in hosting this conference. The Republic of Porcu is a model of democratic strength the world over. My people desire greatly the secure, liberties, and justice for which your Porcuians find common place in your homeland. That you have simply taken an interest in our political affairs have given many hope where before there was none. I stated in my previous communique that the central committee that I train, which makes up the provisional government at this time, is limited in its executive abilities. Currently, Transcaucasia is best described as a Commonwealth of State, all mostly autonomous. However, in the interest of building a united government, they agreed to the creation of this provisional government to oversee the transition from nationstates to a single nationstate. The forthcoming elections is the greatest expression of that dream and it is one I hope will go on as freely and fairly as is possible." The Chairman paused, only momentarily as if to give a moment of silent to such a thought, before continuing. "There are many things with which I simply do not have the power or authority to discuss, matters of which will simply have to be taken up at a later date once a government has been formed following elections. That said, establishing a embassy here in Transcaucasia is a matter with which the authority thereof is mine. Certainly I see no reason why such an embassy should be deny and can only see good things coming from better communication between our two nations. Tbilisi, currently the Georgian capital, hosts both the Russian and Scythirian embassies and is most suited for hosting more and is where I would suggest an embassy be established. While Rustavi may become the future capital of a united Transcaucasia, this is a premature assumption and the city simply does not have the infrastructure to house foreign embassies." "Of course establishing an embassy is only the first step in what will hopefully be a more permanent relationship between Transcaucasia and Porcu. However, again I must stress that this provisional government can only make so many assurances to your people and their government. The elections will cement a party with which this provisional government will work with to establish a permanent government and state. At that time the Commonwealth will cease, as will this provisional government and its power. I will have the ability to make recommendations and believe that the committee as a whole will be kept on for a while afterwards to give consultation to the new government but in the end, it will be the party that wins the election that ultimately can decide the fate of future relations between our people." The Marslavan delegation which was sent to meet the provisional government was relatively large, made up by businessmen in search of new opportunitie as well as diplomats and other, more secretive, kinds of people. They sought to see what was the situation in a land which had been visited only rarely by Marslavans. Frantisek Roh, a senior diplomat, headed this delegation. His objective was to come back home with some technical agreement, such as the establishment of transport links with Transcaucasia, and establish a Marslavan embassy in the country. However, there were other Marslavans outside of that delegation who were operating in the country. They had profited of the occasion to establish their presence in the area and had instructions to assist, as well as it could one specific faction. Officials of the MCP, the Marslavan Communist Party, had decided to contact the Menshevik leadership in Sukhumi, in order to make contact and explore their interest for an alliance. The MCP saw with great sympathy the Mensheviks, whom they considered to be ideologically very close to their idea of democratic socialism. Moreover, someone in the Marslavan government had let known the MCP that any assistance to the Mensheviks was encouraged. Lukas Dobromil, of the MCP, had been tasked to make contact with the Mensheviks in a discrete cafe in Sukhum. He, and two colleagues, was there to assist the Mensheviks with the know how of a modern political party on how a campaign should work. What he thought was important the Mensheviks do, and he saw that the Democrat Republicans had understood this, was to stand out as a party which talks about the important issues facing Transcaucasia (such as employment or socio-economic rights) rather than voice threats and promess rewards like the two leading parties. Finally, he thought, the Mensheviks should not be tricked by the murder of their leader in Tbilisi by an "alleged" member of the Democrat Republicans and seek an alliance with that other party. Dobromil waited that the Menshevik leaders come, so that the discussion concerning a future collaboration could start. |

Upon the Maraslavan arrival to Rustavi, Vice-Chairman Vasil Uznadze of the provisional government was there to great the delegates. "Welcome, welcome to Transcaucasia!" he said, in a rather broken and heavily accented but otherwise acceptable English. "I am Vasil Uznadze, Vice Chairman of the Provisional Government of Transcaucasia. Chairman Marjanishvili sends his deep and sincerest apologies for not being here personally to greet and speak with you while you are here. Before your arrival our government was honored to host another delegation and he remains in talks with them at this time." After the exchange of pleasantries, the Vice Chairman showed the delegation into a small conference room where modest refreshments were made available to them before they all took a seat around a small table. "Again may I say that it is an honor of Transcaucasia to host a delegation from Marslava. While we ourselves have suffered from turmoil, we have also looked to other countries who have struggled and sought strength from their successes. Marslava is a country which has, in recent times, suffered but your people persevered and today are a shinning example of good governance and progress." Uznadze passed, clearing his throat a bit before continuing. "Now as was stated in our last communique, the Provisional Government is just that, provisional. We were setup so as to organize the Commonwealth as a temporary state until such time as a true government of the people could be elected. Once that has happened with the current election, the new government will organize a more permanent state here in Transcaucasia and our government will be slowly phased out. I can only imagine that our personnel may be kept on in a consultation degree to better help the new government but beyond that our power will be nonexistent at that point. I say that in order to express that for now, our power and the subjects for which we can discuss and make guarantees towards is limited. However, the establishment of an embassy here in the country is something that we can discuss. Certainly an embassy will help with communication between our two countries as well as provide more direct communication with the newly elected government. Currently Tbilisi is the acting diplomatic capital of the region and is where we would suggest an embassy be built. ______________________________________________________________ OOC: Alberto, Menshevik HQ is in Tbilisi, I'm just going to assume you said that. IC: Downtown Cafe, Tbilisi.... Inconspicuously as he could, Meliton Zhordania wondered into the cafe and once he spotted the three Maraslavans, he approached them and after a small exchange of handshakes an pleasantries, the four sat down at the table. "When I received word that you wanted to meet me I was humbled" Zhordania said with a smile. "The MCP has had great success in Marslava or so I have read in the international papers. We Mensheviks hope to double that success here though it is certainly a tough road ahead. We were once a major party here in Georgia proper but on a more regional stage, its been hard to spread our message among the Armenian and Azerbaijani populations, the latter the most difficult. With the Armenians, most of whom are Democratic-Republicans, we share much in common but disagree on some social issues. However, I assume you've come to speak about such things and offer assistances? That is, if I may be so presumptuous." |

"Cпасибо Большое, если вы хотите, мы cможем говорить ро Русский" said the head of the delegation, who imagined that English was not the first language of the delegate. In the same language he continued:"The Marslavan government is convinced that, in the future, we will hear a lot about Transcaucasia. It is undobtedly a country with great promesses and we would like to establish good relations with its first unified government". He paused to continue "We undderstand that the powers of the Transitional Government are limited and we thank you for you honesty. However, there are things that we can already do: the first is establishing embassies in our respective capitals, afterward we could also establish transport links between Prague, Sinop and Tbilisi. Finally we could discuss economic relations: there are many in Prague and Sinop who are interested in investing in the infrastructure of Transcaucasia, as well as its minerary resources". In another neighbourhood in Tbilisi, the officials from the Marslavan Communist Party finally met his Menshevik colleague. They were encouraged by his cordiality to come to the point. "The Marslavan Communist Party sees itself close, in its ideas and programmes to the Menshevik Party. For this we have decided to come to your help, through the offering of funds and some strategic advice. We believe that the Menshevik Party has the potential to speak to all sections of society and all ethnies if it stands by addressing the great issues in the Caucasus: these are violence, unemployment, corruption. It must be made clear, where you are already in control, that the Menshevik Party is committed to improve the conditions of the poorest and to empower them without making any distinction based on ethny, gender or religion. For this goal, the MCP has made available an aid of 10 millions $ devoted to aid projects for the poorest. Finally we believe that your greatest possibility of success relies in an alliance with the Democrat Republicans. We advise that you contact them the soonest possible to come around a common platoform of few, essential points". Then the official who spoke remained silent, waiting to hear the opinion of the Menshevik. |
