OOC- For reference, check this thread: http://s3.zetaboards.com/nationstates/topic/7031186/1 IC- -- Kasnyian News Service Special Bulletin -- Hello and welcome to KNS News, your election leader! As the other blocs have chosen their candidates, it remains to be seen what will come of the Yellows. They are conducting their bloc convention today in Bahen, and the contrast between this one and that of the other blocs, or even of their own conventions back when they served at the pleasure of the Gasselist regime, is staggering. Indeed, if not for the recent political significance of these parties, analysts say they wouldn't be worth covering at all. Most of the various factions and their associated parties have been banned from entering the Parliament, so it will be interesting to see how this convention ends. Especially since outside, the Bahen Police have had to cordon off the area -- an office building a few blocks away from a proposed memorial site commemorating those who died during the Liberation of Kasnyia -- to prevent the large crowds that have gathered from outright mauling the convention members. From what we have been told, all parties (including those banned) have arrived. They include the Nationalist Kasnyian People's Party, at one time the only legal party allowed in Kasnyia during the days of the Military Republic. They've not announced their presence, but observers in the crowd have noticed some familiar faces, including a few who were also part of the infamous Topaz faction of the Rally for Emergency Reform of almost a century ago. There has been some rumor that the NKPP has fractured and is now actually three smaller parties, which might be able to allow them to take advantage of a legal loophole, if the rumors are confirmed. The parties, as per the grapevine are supposedly split between supporters of Gassel (who we can confirm did in fact start a new party, the NRER), supporters of what Gassel's ideology before the advent of the Dominion with no loyalty to Gassel himself, and then the "establishment" party (often referring to themselves as the Topaz Faction) which takes on features of the other two but also seems focused beyond Kasnyia. Also showing up is the Christian Democratic League (Parliamentarian), formerly known as the Christian Democratic League (Hein). The party was found innocent of wrongdoing itself with regards to former PM Hein's treachery, but has lost popularity regardless, not even being allowed to challenge seats from the other blocs. They've been dubbed the Radical Parliamentarian Movement by opponents and as a scapegoat by its supporters. Edited by Kasnyia, Mar 28 2012, 11:11 PM.

Because of a tie for three of the four, there will be a runoff vote. |
