Solar Car Series; Racing in Zeelar, and Hopefully the World

For years, concerns over the toxicity of batteries and the idea that automotive transport could return to Zeelar have prevented solar car racing from becoming a reality. However, a few changing attitudes have made it a possibility lately. First of all, some Zeelaran organizations have taken a more pragmatic approach to environmental conservation. Traditionally, half of all revenue from all profits that Zeelaran transportation companies receive from moving unapproved cargos out of the country had to be shared with the Royal Family. This was to avoid moving cars or trucks into the sovereign area of Zeelar.

However, countless trucks ply the roads of the continent of Africa, even though they are outside of Zeelar. Coal fired power plants continue to receive coal via these trucks, they move shipments and automobiles are moved in road-based car haulers. It's distinguishing and has produced huge amounts of pollution. Provided that shipments are proven to remove trucks or cars off the road and onto electric trains, companies like Trans-African Railways have been able to pick up these shipments to avoid the emissions of pollution at a 10% as opposed to 50% tariff. This caused a surge in traffic, and even ancient 40 and 8 boxcars needed to be pulled out of storage to move automotive parts. Naturally, cars are still illegal in Zeelar, and the Royal Family prays for the day when this ban is worldwide. However, until that date, this arrangement has become necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Indeed, so far it has saved an immeasurable amount of fuel.

This pragmatism, combined with a need for new developments in clean solar energy to be used the world over, has inspired the city of New Sevastopol to allow a single new race track to open up. Solar race teams are invited to put forth submissions for designs and come to the city to try their stuff. Of course, no one is allowing anything to be freewheeling at the moment, but in the future more tracks could open up if the results are found to be sufficiently green. For the time being, the owners of the race track have to pay the equivalent of Đ2,500 a month to the city of New Sevastopol. The money will be used to set aside fields to be planted by the unemployed to ensure that the hungry have food. Moreover, an additional annual donation of 25% of the profits from racing, sponsorship and gambling will be used to build farms to feed the starving and employ those who are homeless.

At the moment, the Solar Car Series has accepted a sponsorship for the naming rights of the track. The recent Seraphim Group broadcast brand 'Utility Radio' is being applied to the 'Utility Radio Sportatorium.' Speaking of naming rights, Iconoclastic Arms has purchased the rights to the trophy, which is being named the 'Iconoclast's Cup.' As is to be expected of such an environmentally friendly event, the trophy is actually carved out of wood. Each race currently comes with a prize of Đ55,000 for the first place car, while the series victor receives Đ250,000.

It's hoped that all unlawful internal combustion racetracks in Zeelar will shut down as interest for the sport ramps up. These have been a problem in the past, and are a known source of uncontrolled pollution that needs to be cut back on. Likewise, it's hoped that the spot will replace unhealthy auto racing in other nations as it becomes more popular.

The Amish Children are submitting their vehicle for the solar powered competition. It has a horsepower of 1, is totally sustainable through solar produced energy and provides an added benefit of having waste that is 100% bio-degradable or convertable to fuel or other beneficial products.

There submission is pictured HERE.
