God-Emperor Hirak-Al Voramix faced his favorite general, Avar Takriir, and still present commander of the Scythirian Army. Unlike the God-Emperor's brother-in-law, Vizx Hikaal, who had died in the destruction of Zapht, General Avar Takriir had fled the city when the allied forces stormed it. Since then, he had retained his post as the army's commander. Now he was here, as usual, to Hirak-Al's beck and call.

"To what have I the pleasure, Your Exalted Majesty?" General Avar Takriir asked, rising from his bow.

"We've had reports from our northern borders of nomadic raiders causing troubles for the local population," the God-Emperor replied, settling back in his throne. "This needs to stop. I need you to send several legions to secure the land north of our border and bring it under control for the Sacred Holy Empire." He reached for a scroll tucked at his side and handed it to the general. The general unfurled it and found that it was a map of the land that his sovereign intended for him to conquer.

"What of the situation with Al Adib and Aghaba?" General Takriir asked.

"That can wait," the God-Emperor replied. "We are still waiting on the results of the inspections from the Empire of the Romans. For now, we will need to concentrate on this."

"As you wish, Your Exalted Majesty; your wishes are my commands."

The general gave another bow and left.

Major Rhakur Mozoar stood atop a cliff as he watched his troops down below lead away a company of bandits in shackles out of the mountain caves they were hiding in. The shootout had taken a few days until its end, but the ever efficient Scythirian Army prevailed. Most of the land that the Emperor had commanded to be conquered was seized, and already operations were underway to bring imperial governance to the region. These savages lived in filth and rags and needed to be civilized. Scythirus would certainly civilize them. No longer would they lawlessly attack villages or towns or supply routes and steal whatever wasn't nailed down. No, now they would abide by Scythirian laws and use Scythirian currency to get the things they needed.

I certainly hope Al Adib and Aghaba are paying attention to what fate awaits them, he thought, hungering for that seemingly inevitable battle.
