So I've had the Collector's Edition since December 20th, and I've been allowed to play since December 14th. The amount I did play in the beta was amazing, but I can't bloody well permanently borrow my roommate's computer to play TOR. I have the money to a buy a great new computer, but my cautious logic tells me no. I simply cannot bring myself to buy that computer because I know there is always a possibility I could have trouble funding this semester, and I'm not about to sink two months of rent into a gaming computer. Between the money I have and the rent payments I get from my roommate, I will be able to last all the way through March and even go on Spring Break. But after that, the well is dry unless the VA starts sending those checks. Which they should. It should only just take a bit longer and soon I'll be getting over $900 a month, but I know how these things can work. I know it's possible it won't be until the end of the semester that I get my money. Of course, when that first check does come in, I'm immediately getting my computer.

But all in all, it's driving me crazy not being able to play the game (and that's only doubled by the fact that I also have a copy of Skyrim I can't play right now, and I have a few other games on Steam I haven't played yet that I can't play, like Mafia II and Napoleon Total War). I'm already trying to figure out how I want to spec my Jedi Knight (Guardian Tank or DPS or middle ground? God, that makes me sound like an MMO nerd... I played AD&D before any of this! RPG FTW!). I also have resolved already that I'm going full lightside, save for a little bit of love interest. The game has multiple endings for every character, literally like one for every tier of lightside or darkside, and even one for true neutral. So I know I want to see the ultimate Jedi Knight lightside ending first (since that is the main plotline that really matters in the longrun). I'm not sure what I'll do after. I want to play a lightside Sith Warrior, because having playing up Nar Shardaa, I know going that way is very interesting. I also want to play the ultimate darkside Sith Warrior because I'm curious what the ultimate evil character will do in the longrun. But I know after all the dust is settled and I'm done satisfying curiosities that my main character will be a Bounty Hunter. This may raise an eyebrow for some of you.

I liked being Steds Boida. Steds Boida was a Star Wars name I derived from a LEGO magazine years and years ago. The formula was the first three letters of your first name and the last two of your last for the first name, and then the first two of your mother's maiden name and the first three letters of your birthplace. For me, it worked out pretty well. Steds Boida is an awesome Star Wars name. For others, you might want to modify the rules a bit. I saw a version just now that said first few letters, last few letters, town you've lived in, add a vowel if necessary (had to look up because I didn't remember ida was from my birthplace, thought it was another family name). The first time I used this name was in Knights of the Old Republic, where I started out a soldier and ended up a Jedi Knight. Of course, you turn out to not be who your are in that game, but rather someone completely different, a character that is still even in The Old Republic and is an integral part of the plot. Then I was Steds Boida in Knights of the Old Republic II, being a Jedi Guardian and then a Jedi Weapon Master. Of course, the canon made this character turn out to be Meetra Surik, who is a chick (Leland Chee figured there weren't enough female heroins in Star Wars). So in this case, Steds Boida never really existed. One last note on KotOR, I also wore heavy armor for both of these characters all the way through. The next time I was Steds Boida was in Star Wars Galaxies. I was a Bounty Hunter. Why? Because being a Jedi in the Galactic Civil War is stupid. I sided with the Empire because they're cooler than the Rebels in every way possible, down to the music. Plus, as a Bounty Hunter, I literally got to hunt the players that played as Jedi. But the main reason I chose to be a Bounty Hunter was because Boba Fett is absolutely my favorite character in Star Wars, perhaps in anything. Even though he only has three lines in Empire and none in Jedi. I never got the Mandalorian Armor, only ever had a top notch suit of Composite Armor, but that said, there were easily less than ten existing full suits in the entire game population because of the extreme efforts it took to create the armor. That said, my guild buddies in the Dark Legion would have been more than willing to help me had I stayed in the game. I played SWG for two months. Reach level 50 in two weeks and 75 by the end of that two months, then I got bored and stopped playing. I had only paid for a three month subscription, but recently I learned that the company running SWG kept charging me for about a year. No wonder my bank account kept coming up negative. Lesson learned. Always make absolutely sure your subscription is cancelled (bastards...). Now, with The Old Republic out, SWG is no more, and with it so is my character. At first, it felt right for Steds to be a Jedi, but now it just doesn't feel right. Steds needs to be a Mandalorian, so Bounty Hunter is the way to go. I think I'll have to go Mercenary though. As much as I like Powertech, wielding one blaster pistol in a heavy suit of armor instead of a rifle just seems silly for a bounty hunter. So two pistols it has to be.

I'd like to use a double-bladed lightsaber as a Jedi Guardian, but nooooo, they had to make weapons class specific. It's quite silly. I loved in KotOR being able to have a double-bladed lightsaber, and switching to one or two lightsabers when I felt like it, and then getting out a heavy repeating blaster just to show a stinking Sith I didn't need no lightsaber to kill them. Lately, I've been gunning down Dark Jedi Reborns in Jedi Outcast with a Heavy Imperial Repeater. It's quite hilarious.
