I went to MIT Splash's event this past weekend and stopped by Occupy Boston briefly. On the way back, I stopped by Occupy Wall Street as well and actually stayed for a bit. I talked to some people about what they're doing; how they're organizing logistics wise, how they're differentiating homeless people seeking to help and homeless hoping to take advantage of the free supplies, etc. I found it quite humorous that there does, indeed, appear to be a set hierarchy that they're adhering to and some don't even seem to realize it. Actually, most of those I talked to. |

How was the MIT program? Are you interested in going to school there? |

It was interesting. I went last year, too. Some classes I took included an Intro to Negotiation, Evolution of the Human Soul, Linguistics of Thought, Nazis in Star Wars, and Non-Linear Thinking in a Linear World. Aside from that, I also met up with a ton of CTY people. We all discovered there was a class called "The Day the Music Died", about the meaning behind each lyric of American Pie, and all went to it. About halfway through, I asked the instructor if he was a CTYer, but he didn't know what that was. We then discovered all but 2 members of the 40 person class were CTYers, half Lancaster and half Carlise. We all started singing the song and then some Lancaster callbacks came up and the Carlise people sat back down while we stormed the stage and formed a circle to continue the song. After the class, we even had an afterdance, followed by screaming "Go home! Nobody loves you!" and "We love you!" as we ran across the main quad of MIT. It was so nostalgic. EDIT: And, yes, I am interested in MIT. I applied Early Action there already and was hoping to get a meeting to coincide with the event, but it didn't work out. Edited by Telosan, Nov 22 2011, 06:51 AM.

Ah, you applied already? That's good. It means that you got it all sorted out, even though, if I recall correctly, your school was less than adequately supportive. Good luck! Also, that program sounds good. |
