Just felt it here in NJ. I thought I was hallucinating at first.

5.9, originating in Mineral, Virginia about 25 minutes ago. Approximately 20 miles from Richmond.

I've already contacted several people. PA felt it, NYC felt it, a friend in Connecticut did, too. My uncle who lives in Richmond has jumped on Facebook and mentioned it, saying it was no big deal and since the internet is still up, nothing's really happened.

That last one confuses me. He's 20 miles from the epicenter and felt about as much as I did way up here in NJ?

Felt something up here too. Strange. Never experienced one of those before.

Not my fault. ;)

Felt my chair and desk shaking. Looked around and saw other things shaking. Tried to find a source for shaking, which stopped pretty quickly. Briefly considered the possibility of madness. Conversed with friends and family through poorly performing text message system and discovered truth of earthquake. Finally, story shows up on internet.

My bed was swaying here in Toronto, as was the door. Many of my friends felt it too.

Felt it down here in NC (Well NC-SC border) it was an interesting sensation, never felt one before. Kind felt like the swaying of a ship to me. Also, having to prepare for the hurricane although last I heard it looks like for me it'll just be a bunch of needed rain.

Others felt it in DC. I happened to be in an elevator at the time and missed it.

I was eating lunch at home alone when I suddenly felt the floorboards shake. I also heard a little creaking (not much, just a bit), so at first I thought it was a really strong wind, but it wasn't a windy day, and I was pretty sure that wind wouldn't make the floor shake. The phone was just a short distance from me, so I called my mom and she said she felt it too, several miles away. Dad didn't feel it since he was in a car. I was kind of scared at first since I've never felt an earthquake/aftershock before, but I felt a little better after mom gave me some pointers. She grew up in China, so.

All of our cell phones were also dead, so either the service was clogged up or the earthquake did something to mess up the signal. Only thing that's broken is our water heater thing in the basement, which flooded one of the rooms. Getting it fixed tomorrow.

CLEVELAND ROCKS!
Felt it in Athens, Ahia.. I thought it was the construction outside my house (my house has been shaking and creaking all summer long). I'm mad I didn't know it was an earthquake until later.

It probably won't get much press, but we've been getting quite a few tremors in my neck of the woods lately.

I was in one bathroom and my roommate was in the other bathroom when one hit. I thought he'd flushed the toilet or something, and that the back bathroom was just weird.

The second quake... I didn't feel it. And I was awake when it hit. Did not notice it.

And yet there are people in Lawton whose houses were violently shaken by both. Very odd.
