The Guangxi was not a rich land. Caojing knew. Season after season, with hard work and sweat, trying to pull a living. But the fields were increasingly stingy. "Cursed Earth", said exhausted "I'm tired." He dropped the plow and rested in the shade of the mulberry tree that his wife used to collect the silk. The sky was clear and deep blue. It could also be the twenty-first century, but Caojiang seemed to still be at the time of the Ming. For those like him in that land that the kingdom of Shu, province a considered secondary, there was little hope of a better future. He saw a cloud of dust on the horizon. There were a few trucks. Pointing to his village. Ran into the house and shouted to his wife two sons, "Go! Hide !!!". It was not uncommon that the lotus biancob attacked a small village to capture prisoners and loot. Caojiang Got His Gun. An old weapon that he did not even know if it worked. To his great surprise, the rebels came down from the trucks, but no soldiers in green uniforms of the army of Sichuan. Soldiers of the Kingdom of Shu. The men secreted from the truck to the command of a young mandarin. Immediately pointed to his house. |

Caojing observed, more and more amazed that they were pointing toward his house. The officer took off his Mandarin from his pocket a paper "On behalf of His Majesty Qinglong, pure dragon of the middle kingdom," he read aloud "open and there will be problems." Caojing was used, instead, to consider the men of Shu government a much bigger problem than marauding white lotus or Taiping. His wife came close and whispered "Do not open, I'm afraid." "Foolish woman," he said "Go in scale with our son." If they had killed him, he thought, his wife and his son, his only son, would survive. Caojing opened, slightly, a window and, well hidden, with rifle in hand, said, "Who are you and what you want?". The man in the mandarinal uniform was unimpressed, took off his hat and said, gently, "I am Li Huo," said "Your commander of the civil province." Although out of the sun was at its zenith, the Mandarin did not seem to be affected and remained motionless. Coajing was struck from the other one's early age, he could have no more than thirty years, younger 10 years than his at least. "What you want from us?", The peasant became increasingly suspicious. "I want you delivered your child." Posted Image Edited by Filo, Jul 19 2011, 01:00 PM.

Caojing, at first, seemed not to have understood. "Do you want...my son sir?", asked. The officer nodded assent, looked up one folder "is Mr. Hu, the state has need of your child". "But my son is only 10", the voice of the poor farmer trembled a little. A bad feeling nestled in his thoughts. Meanwhile, a group of armed men had come down from the truck and had approached the door of his house. Caojiang fell to the ground in a deep bow "Please," he said almost crying "do not do anything to my son." The men jumped over the army of Shu ignoring it. The Mandarin raised him up, "Mr. Hu", said gently, but coldly, "the awakening that awaits your child is glorious, to serve the nation and the king of Shu". The Mandarin men were dragging the boy unceremoniously although the the small one stamped with all his might. Caojing jumped up to run towards her son but was stopped by two soldiers in uniform. "Stop !!!", cried" my son is !!!". Only then he noticed that inside one of the trucks were other children. The imperial government was kidnapping children!. The farmer then lost patience. He rushed on the soldiers and tried to beat them. "Let my son !!!!", shouting "Let my son. " The Mandarin waved a hand and said, "Let him alive, I can understand his concerns." Two men continued to hold the boy, but the others pulled out their batons and started bashing Caojing. Who managed to deal a couple of punches, then, was overwhelmed. Already slumped lifeless to the ground. A soldier struck a couple of kicks in the kidneys. Finally, with a roar, the truck was left behind the house Cajing. All that the farmer was able to say before passing out was all the "Bohai", the name of his son. Edited by Filo, Jul 20 2011, 08:26 AM.

The soldiers threw him into the truck like a pig. He banged violently on the floor and his eyes filled with tears. Bohai sat up. In the truck sector there were other children. Thirty, more or less his age. In one corner, an older boy, lying in a pool of his own blood. Everyone seemed scared. Baohai was not used to crying, but that situation could not hold back the tears. He wept in silence. He crouched in a corner with his head between his knees. They traveled for a while, he felt the truck start at each hole. All the way she had stopped crying. A boy approached him and handed him a kind of biscuit dough of rice. "Hold" and said "I am Liu Fanfan, Qifengshan from you?". Baohai pulled the nose up with "My name is Hu Baohai, I do not know the name of my town, our house was so small." As he ate the rice biscuit asked "Who are these people?" Fanfan shook his head, "Soldiers, the emperor, I think." "What they did to that boy?", And pointed out the poor guy lying in blood. "He tried to escape," said Fanfan. "Where are they taking us?". "I do not know." |

The truck stopped only one time. The children were sent down to pee and they were done eating a gruel of rice. "If someone tries to be clever ...", said one of the soldiers pulling out his baton from the case. The boys looked at their feet without a word and climbed into the back of the truck. Then they never stopped, until it came to what was their goal. Chengdu, the imperial capital. The were dropped with the usual abrupt methods and Bohai sudden realized he was in some sort of military base. Fanfan was also thrown out of the truck drove off, leaving a thirty boys in the middle of a barren field. It was night and cold. Were alone in the dark for a while, so afraid that no one had dared to escape. Then, almost out of nowhere, came out of a group of men in black uniforms. "Do not be afraid," he said "now you're home." |

Posted Image The men in black suits escorted the children in what looked like a temple. A nice and simple, built in the middle of a forest. For most children were settled and those most injured were taken away by men in black. Bohai did not feel safe. Even when they arrived at the church, in a large room decorated with festoons and tables laden with so many dishes. The children, forgetting the fear, without waiting for a wave of men dressed in black, threw themselves on the food. To Bohai surprise, no one said anything to them and were allowed to eat. The child had not eaten for days and pounced on rice and bread voraciously; the same way as did the other children. A couple of hours and then suddenly they were ordered, with a tonon perentororio, be quiet and sit down. Fanfan sat i near Bohai and whispered "I think it's bad." A man appeared from a door. Instead of a uniform, like that of other men, wore a simple black gown. He was not particularly old but showed clear signs of maturity. He sat at the head and said "Welcome to our home," he said, "From now, until the emperor's will, will be yours." He paused to eat a little 'rice "Some of you, maybe the smart ones, will you ever wondered how they were brought here." Nonn few children did nod his head. After you smile, he continued, "This where you are, is a school. A school that aims to teach you to become faithful followers of the emperor and to serve him with great loyalty. " He got up, motioned to his guards, "Now you are finished eating and rest, tomorrow morning, when the cock crows, I summon you here again." |
