Armenian Minority pushes for Yerevan

Northern Tbilisi: Premier Mikhail Tskitishvili announced today that the Southern Republic of Georgia would be annexing the northern most territory of the former Turkish Empire. This announcement came after months of pressure the Southern Republic has been under from their Armenian minority living in the Republic since the recent conflict with the Military Republic a few years ago. Armenians living in the southern Republic have made several attempts to presuade the Southern Republic to take the territory when it was apparent the Turkish government was defunct. Armenians in the Southern Republic have had a strong desire since the last conflict, to build for themselves an Armenian homeland in the ancestral lands of the Armenians, land which is entirely within the Southern Republic.

"The announcement of the Premier is a great victory for all Armenians within the Southern Republic" stated Michael Balakian, a prominent leader of the Armenian minority and one of the strongest voices in the movement to take Yerevan and what remains of ancestral Armenian territory. "For generations we were anarchy, then came the war with the Military Republic which we would have surely lost had it not been for the Southern Republic and those Georgians who believe in freedom for all. Now finally, our comrades and friends have finally given us a chance to unit our people once and for all." Military personnel have already begun moving over the traditional border between Southern Georgia and the Turkish Empire. As of late yesterday, the military has received no resistance for the local population. Their goal is to take the city of Yerevan and big a strong command point from that position in which to influence the rest of the region.

"It was never a question of whether or not we would aid our Armenians brothers in taking this ancestral territory for their people" the Premier stated to reporters after the official announcement was made. "Our concern was stretching our military forces, which are limit, too thin and risk making ourselves vulnerable to Northern aggression. However, given the current unrest in the North, we do not feel at attack would be viable for them at this time but I would like to assure the public that while we have military units in our south, we still have forces along the border and full-prepared for any attack the North may try against us." This move by the Southern Republic of Georgia comes at a time when the Norther Military Republic has been reported as experiencing increasing civil unrest, some even going far as calling it a civil war though the government in Baku continues to denounce those claims. Construction of the Trans-Babylonian Railway has since stopped due to the conflict and the government of Baku's unwillingness to negotiate with the Southern Republic. More than twenty thousand Georgians have been reported to have illegally crossed the border from the north to the south in the past year due to the increasing instability in the North.

Alexanderhaven congratulates the taking of the glorious Christian city of Yerevan from the Muhammadan hordes. His Holiness will also lend himself as mediator between the two Georgias for the completion of the Trans-Babylonian Railroad, should it be accepted.

Official Communiqué

The memberstates of the Euroveraminus Union do not recognize this expansion, as no free referendum has been conducted and the voices of those of Yerevan have not been properly accounted for.

Official Statement
Republic of Southern Georgia
To the leadership of Porcu and the Euroveraminus Union, allow us to make clearer our intentions. While this annexation of Yerevan and the surrounding territory is in the name of the Southern Republic, it is not our intentions to keep the territory. Since the incorporation of the Armenian minority within our Republic, it has been their greatest desire to have a nation of their own. They would have had such a state of their own a few years ago had the Turkish Empire not taken the territory in question and had the Northern Military Republic not invaded as well.

We have since won back most of what the Armenians consider the land of their ancestors and this territory in question now is the final piece to that puzzle. Once the Republican forces have stabilized the region and ensured peace, our administration will begin the difficult and long task of transforming the territory in question as well as the rest of what the Armenians consider their land, into a fully-independent, peaceful, and functioning state. The Armenians want a homeland of their own, both here in Southern Georgia and in Yerevan and the surrounding countryside. They feel what the Turks took from them, they took illegally and now they only want it back. In the interest of showing our true intentions and to ease any misgivings, we warmly invite officials both from Porcu as well as Euroveraminus Union to travel to the region and speak with the people directly. I believe what you will find is a people ready to be unified under their own banner and that is something this Republic will strive to get for them. For like them, we Georgia also hope that one day our ancestral lands will once again be united and that we will be given the chance to fly a Georgian banner again.

A coalition of EU officials will accept the invitation presented and travel to Yerevan and the surrounding region to speak directly with those that are to be affected. The EU is glad to see the Republic of Southern Georgia devoted to the noble ideal of self-determination for the Armenians and will gladly support efforts to such an end.

Once a confident answer has been reached by EU officials, an official statement will be released by the EU Commission on Foreign Affairs. We thank you for your patience.

Armenians Celebrate in Yerevan

Northern Tbilisi: Day after the Southern Republic of Georgia began moving expeditionary forces into the Armavir, Yerevan, Kotayk, and Ararat; celebrations of their arrival have been organized by the local population. So far, Georgian peace-keepers have met no resistance from local Armenian populations in the regions and have only seen conflict with local Turkish minorities living in the area. Luckily, each skirmish with these pockets of the minority have been quickly dealt with and those responsible for the violence have been detained. No casualties on either side have been reported. Premier Tskitishvili announced yesterday that given the relative stability of the region and the peaceful welcome met by Georgian officials and peace-keeping forces, that he see no reason why the borders between these regions and the already establishing Armenian provinces within the Southern Republic can't be opened so Armenians from both sides can travel freely amongst their people.

"The situation in the former Turkish regions are stabilized and the Armenian majority has welcomed us with open arms" the Premier reported at a press conference in southern Tbilisi. "We see no reason why the borders can't be opened and we intend to open them without delay. This will be but the first step towards the Armenian homeland that the Armenians have so desperately desired. I myself intend to travel to Yerevan soon to meet with local leaders of the Armenian population there so that the process can begin in earnest. " When asked about Turkish resistance and what would happen to the Turkish minority still in the region the Premier had only a few comments on the matter. "The reports of Turkish resistance against peace-keeping forces is true. Many of our soldiers along the southern most edges of the provinces have encountered a Turkish minority that is resistant to the creation of a Armenian homeland. I assure you that we will not infringe on their sovereignty to exist, nor will we will force them to leave their homes or the region. I intend to meet with their local leaders as well so that violence can be brought to an end and a solution that is beneficial to all is met."

A coalition of officials from the Euroveraminus Union landed at the airport of Rustavi yesterday morning and were allowed into the region. Republican peace-keeping forces led the group to Yerevan to speak with local leaders before showing them on a complete tour of the region. Officials were kept from Turkish areas due to the violence but local Turkish leaders have since agreed to the official's safety and so EU officials are expected to meet with Turkish officials today. Premier Tskitishvili hoped to meet with EU officials back in Yerevan as early as tomorrow to discuss with them their own finding as well as the possibility of EU aid to the Armenians as they transition themselves towards nationhood.

After EU officials had spoken with local Armenian leadership on the progress and unfolding of events in the region, in addition to meeting with Premier Tskitishvili of the Southern Republic of Georgia, the EU Commission on Foreign Affairs gives its full support to the framework set out by the Premier. Financial and political support will be extended to the Armenian people and the EU is proud to work alongside the Southern Republic of Georgia in providing a peaceful transition for the Armenian people towards independence.

ARMENIAN HOMELAND UNITED, STATEHOOD TO FOLLOW

Yerevab: Premier Tskitishvili announced today that after a week following the initial advance into the region surrounding Yerevan and following a high-profile meeting with leaders of the Euroveraminus Union, the Southern Republic has successfully united the Armenian homeland. While the details have yet to be fully exposed to the public, the Premier did comment that the path the statehood for the Armenian region would begin without delay and that all concerned parties would have their voices heard and their concerns detail with before an Armenian state would be officially declared by the government of the Southern Republic.

"Peace-keeping forces have successfully surveyed the entire region and we're happy to announce that we've successfully secured the borders to the south. Furthermore, we've open to the borders to allow the Armenians full access to all regions within their traditional homeland" the Premier commented at a press conference on the Armenian matter. "We've already established installation in Yerevan to meet with local leaders as well as begin the process of helping the Armenian people established for themselves a proper, and sustainable government. If a united Armenia is to last, a government must be created that can withstand the pressures of leading a nation. They must become self-sufficient in caring for their own. Naturally, the Southern Republic intends to become a strong ally to the Armenians. Furthermore, the E.U. has also pledged a measure of support that will not go without the gratitude and thanks of the Armenian people."

Already local leaders from provinces and settlements across the traditional realm of Armenia have begun to converge on Yerevan. It is unclear at this time where the Armenians leaders will wish to take their new state. Some officials who have already spoken with groups of local leaders tell reporters, unofficially, that it appears the Armenians are leading towards the restoration of the monarchy. Still other reports say that a republic is likely to be formed. For now it seems, the world will simply have to wait and see where the Armenians choose to take themselves.
