OOC: This is considered to be written well after the actual events, I intend no one finds out about this other than a select few. Others are free to guess. :P Annals of the Teutonic Order: The Twilight of the Knights By Cardinal Thomas von Stuttgard Hochmeister Hermann von Jungingen was an image of the glory and the splendor of his ancestors, hardened by war and tempered by faith. His reign had seen the Teutonic Order risen from obscurity, to a position of power, to it's role as the shield and sword of the Genesian faith, her cities rebuild to their almost forgotten beauty. All glory given to God on high. Well fit and healthy his rule was expected to be long and wonderful. But things do not always happen as we wished. The Venetian shrapnel that was inside his skull was a ticking time bomb. Received during the liberation of Naples from Venetian forces, the small piece of jagged metal had pieced his skull but did not have the force to go much further. God's grace had spared the life of the Hochmeister, but when doctors saw the x-ray they dared not test God's kindness. It lay to close to the brain for them to attempt to remove it, and since his body show no signs of hate towards the foreign object, the decided to leave the object and the Hochmeister's health in God's hands. But damned souls with cursed hands had handled the shell and so an avenue for Satan was left and for many years it lay silently, Satan ever preparing for his assault of the Hochmeister mind. And the day finally came, as he slept the dreaded battle was waged. The aftermath was clear the next morning, when the priest enter his chamber for dawn prayers, he could not rouse him. But he lived trapped, God sparing his life, but Satan imprisoning him. He live, but only as a shell, unspeaking, unmoving and unable. Edited by Menhad, May 1 2011, 01:05 PM.

The Teutonic Order lived and breathed the the word of their beloved Hochmeister, and he lived and breathed the word of the Pope. But with the Pope having long been in study, silent on the matters of the world, there was no voice, no direction. And all the power and the glory seemed to fade, a grey twilight had fallen, one that knows neither dawn nor night, glory nor shame, power nor weakness. The once bright and beautiful cities, once full of song and mirth, hushed. Indecision gripped the Teutonic Order, and Satan laughed at the painfulness of it all. OOC: Going out to Chicago last night got the creative juices flowing, but I think I lost my spelling ability when I was there... |

Annals of the Teutonic Order: The Twilight of the Knights By Cardinal Thomas von Stuttgard With the election of Pope Castillo the twilight seemed to end, and a few days later the Hochmeister Hermann von Jungingen died. His mission on earth done, he guided his order to great heights. It was as if he knew that there was a future, and that he could leave his order knowing that God was with them. I close this chapter with these final words. God saw fit to reign in the order, give them pause, and to teach them that though Hochmeister Hermann von Jungingen may leave this world, his strength could stay with them forever. _____ Hochmeister Siegfried von Wildstein was elected as the new Hochmeister, stern and military minded, but more diplomatic than his predecessor and less violent. He understood the legacy his rule would be compared to, so he prepared to lead the Order to new heights and greater glory in God's and the Pope's name Edited by Menhad, Jul 22 2012, 07:29 PM.
