I'll leave the specifics to you, but it should include explosives or firearms, preferably both, women of questionable morals, alcohol, and a location with an abundance of innocent bystanders, preferably extremely young, extremely old, or otherwise helpless.
Sounds like my saturday nights.

I'm so very glad I decided not to go to college.
You're adorable.

But moving on, I orchestrated my first bar crawl tonight. Good times.

I'm starting to see this thing called "the real world" at the end of this not long enough, fun-filled tunnel called Ohio University that I'm in... Luckily, I woke up drunk so I might just accidentally turn around and talk a few steps back. #winning
You should join the Navy if you like that life syle. you should've have been there last night.

Anybody else graduating this semester starting to feel how weird and surreal it is to be just about done with college? My last finals are tomorrow, and it's only now starting to sink in.

Speaking of, I actually make the walk tomorrow. Cap and gown are ready, family all excited and me.....well I'm not sure where to put it really. Having gone an exorbitant amount of time for just a BA in history and a license to teach (six years wooohooo, 2 in community, 4 at university) I'm exhausted of school. So naturally a part of my is really happy to finally be out and done with all the term-papers, exams, and other artifacts professors gather to gauge learning.

However, I live (as I believe everyone very well knows) in North Carolina which is a state that is second to last in the national rankings when it comes to education spending. For the past couple of weeks before it was all officially over, us education interns kept hearing "aw I know it looks bad but don't worry, there will be jobs out there." Yeah I figured that was a load of crap then but at the same time stayed optimistic. Wouldn't you know for the past week, the local news agency covers one county after another as they announce how many jobs they're having to cut and how they're going to fall millions short of their budget needs. If I didn't know better, it appears as if it'll take an act of Congress (Or Paradise for that matter) to get a job in my state.

So now I come to the eerie realization that I have no freaking clue what I'm going to do with my life after graduation. I've decided that I refuse to go back to school and waste more time and more money, while making little to no money in the process. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that whatever I find for work, it takes into account my college degree so that at least it means something!

GOTO: Florida.

There are teaching positions all over the country, so don't be shy. Oh, and six years is nothing: 1st Semester Freshman, U. of Illinois, Major - Metalurgical Engineering - Sept. 1969: Graduated, St. Xavier University, English Literature, May, 1976!!

Me thinks that breaks your record.

I probably should think of possibly leaving NC, but that means having to pass whatever hoops my destination state requires a teacher who was licensed in another state. That said, I'm not quite ready to give up on NC yet, after all its a good size state, and there's gotta be a job somewhere even if its in a private school or in the backwoods

Hoods are for masters and doctorate degrees, undergrads don't get them. The tassel represents the major, and yeah, it is crimson.

The job hunt is not going well so far. It especially seems futile when you think you do everything right in the interview and still don't get the job. :(

Anyone here have any connections they think could help me, or at least a good sized cardboard box to live in?

I hear refrigerator boxes are quite spacious. I'm sure with some waterproofing one could make a serviceable abode.

As someone who makes most of his living repairing and selling appliances, I can say that with proper "modifications" to a 'stack-top' or 'side-by-side' both could serve as a makeshift shelter, and some of you would probably be surprised just how common abandoned appliances are. Regardless, I don't advise you try it.

You can also use a pair of Washer and/or Dryer boxes in an emergency and Dishwashers are a great place to search for damn good insulation, though its not fun to handle if its bare material. Some insulation is sealed in plastic and some newer models use materials unlikely to irritate. There's also a myriad of ways to use an appliances - beyond just a dishwashers - internal components as tools and for gathering water, starting fires, etc.

Its common sense salvaging, but I really hope none of you will ever need to learn it, short of a post-apocalyptic scenario.

I prefer dryer lint for starting fires. Dryer lint smeared with petroleum jelly works even better.

I'm beginning to think that if the job hunt doesn't improve here, I may just head someplace else on a whim, so to speak. Ideally, I want to go somewhere where I've got friends, family, or some sort of job lined up. My thinking is: I'm getting sick of Oklahoma, and if I can't get a real job here, but I can hold a crappy retail/service job here, I could just as easily get one somewhere else, so I might as well use the opportunity to see new places. Any suggestions, for a job or just someplace new to go?

The Shire is really nice this time of year. If you're going to be jobless and homeless, you may as well be jobless and homeless up here. I don't know about your philosophical views, but if you're pro-liberty, and if you go to Porcupine Freedom Festival, there are a lot of good people who might be willing to help you out until you get back on your feet.

I don't know how clear I've made it on here, but I'm planning on being a mixed-use urban real estate developer. My plan is to be based in Cleveland... Well yesterday, a study is released showing prime areas for development. The grass couldn't be greener where I want to pursue my first project, yet you can still get houses for pennies on the dollar. I need to graduate already and pick up a couple jobs so I can pursue this.

1 year. Trust me, I've considered it. I don't even need too much capital! 15,000 houses in Cleveland directly across the street from billions in development! It is ridiculous.

Edit:
Plus it is easier to leverage yourself in housing then it is in any other investment. 80-20 Loan-to-value is standard, and since most of the houses are foreclosures the banks are sick of holding, I could probably do better.

Thought I'd throw this out again, but does anybody have any leads that would be worth applying to? The job search has kinda stalled out at the moment.

Start growing some of your own food.

If you're having trouble finding a way of increasing your income, in the meantime work on reducing your costs.

Forgive the ignorance but what kind of job are you looking for, ideally and/or out of desperation? (ok that might not sound as I intended  )
