So one of the girls I've gone to school with since the 6th grade does porn now.
Not exactly what I was expecting, but I guess its the first person from my school years to have a solid career. I knew a guy who was dead-set on getting into that business in high school. Maybe I should google search his name and see how far he got on that dream.

Yes. I wouldn't consider it safe at all, however. Tis a sad society. Essentially any pretty girl can just cop out and get into the sex industry. Even many that aren't so pretty can. It's fucked up, but I suppose it is not very different than it has always been.

I knew a girl who went into the porn industry--though more like modeling than intercourse. She did that for a year or two and came out the other end just fine, she just got bored with it.

Assuming its legal, I still don't see how it can be compared to brothels of the olden days.

Well, I'm at least going to get out of Wal-Mart, finally. Enterprise turned me down for a management trainee program, but I got a job working customer support at a call center for AAA. It's full time and pays $11/hour, and I'll take it, but I still wonder if I could be doing better. A win's a win, though; a half-step forward at least. So... I get an email from one of the job sites I'd been using while I was still at Walmart, called Media Bistro. They still send me stuff because I didn't bother to cancel it off after I got on at AAA. Most of the jobs they send me are usually based out of NYC, Boston, LA, etc. For once, they actually have one out of OKC, for a company called noodleStream.com, looking for a writer. I think to myself, why the hell not?
I send in my resume and some writing samples, and hear back a few days later, they invite me downtown for an interview. Job is apparently for an "Instructional Systems Design" analyst (read: technical writer). Interview apparently goes well, because I get an email from the guy who interviewed me, telling me we were moving forward with the interview process and asking me to take a writing test: fill out a paragraph similar to the type of work I'd be doing: basically explaining technical safety procedures to employees in plain English. I do that well, and he replies to me that he wanted me to come in this morning to meet the senior managers before he formally offers me the position. I do that, we talk for a bit and before I leave, he pulls me into the office, has me officially fill out an application and we discuss pay and benefits. Hourly equivalent of $28k a year starting, bumps up to $32k a year after the 90-day probationary period is up.
Long story short: I basically stumbled into an actual career job without even trying. :P

They still send me stuff because I didn't bother to cancel it off after I got on at AAA. Most of the jobs they send me are usually based out of NYC, Boston, LA, etc. For once, they actually have one out of OKC, for a company called noodleStream.comnoodleStream.com, looking for a writer. :P Well, about time, young man! Good luck!!

I'm not sure if its different elsewhere, but the soldiers on the west coast, mainly marines, always found it necessary to buy a suped up car.
There are a couple identifying factors in a Marine.
1. Shaven head. 2. Abercrombie & Fitch clothing. 3. Large backpack. 4. Always will have a nicer/more expensive car than you.
Its kinda sad actually. They all come from the east coast, so all they know about the lifestyle here is what they see in TV and advertisements, so they end up buying tight fitting clothing that only big burly gay men wear.

You bite your tongue. Not all of them come from the East Coast. One of my best friends went into the Marines and just now got the last of the hardware removed due to injuries sustained in a HMMVW hit by an IED in Afghanistan. Shaven head I will give you, but God knows he's never worn Abercrombie and Fitch, and he's driving a beater-ass car like a real man.
