OOC- Decided to start the thread, Porcu. I'll only do set up for my rebels, expanding a bit on what happened in the Mintsa Doctrine, so that it doesn't curb anything you might have in mind.

2200 hrs
Zanzibar City, Zanzibar
Two weeks after the fall of Waarland

The city had seen better days.

The once magnificent Sultanate of Zanzibar had been the playpen of the rich and powerful, including the Emirs of Qalaa and the sons of the Caliph of Paradise himself. It had all the luxuries, the best security money could buy in exchange for the rare and precious privacy sought by the kinds of people who went there. Under Paradise's protection, the Sultanate was held in awe by the rest of the world, wondering how could they have been so blind as to not snatch it themselves before the fiat of Riyadh ensured they would never get to do so. Then came the war.

When the Dominion had first hit Asia, Zanzibar had already seen refugees who had fled from Kasnyia some years before, but this rush of Asians from all over was much worse. The Kasnyians who had fled eventually moved on to other places. But the Asians had not. At least not by choice. It wasn't long before the islands were overcrowded and not even money would save them. By order of the Caliph, the Sultanate began to deport many of these people to nations on the mainland. That was when the parties stopped. The nights would be quiet, the days would be low key as people worried. That was when the lustre of wealth began to fade, but it was still a heavenly reprieve from the war that had soon engulfed the world. Then Gassel had turned his wretched eye to Paradise.

Unused to fighting against such strength, the Caliph had to remove the garrison it had placed in Zanzibar and soon refugees once again began to pour in the island. The Sultan of Zanzibar was left only with his personal guard and whatever militia he could raise on his own. With this, he was able to hold the island together in peace, even as Paradise fell to the soldiers of Zapht. And now the only thoughts were of wondering when...not if...the Dominion would come for the island too.

It took a surprisingly long time, about three years, for the Dominion to finally launch an attack from occupied East Ziyer to take the islands and use it as a naval facility. All the wealth that had not already been removed from the island by now was pillaged. The Sultan, who had tried to fight off the Dominion and had held on to his precious island for three days, was sent to Malfenheusten Prison in Rangoon, where high level political prisoners...mostly leaders of conquered nations who had resisted...were sent. It would only be after the Dominion's fall that his family and the people of Zanzibar would learn that he had died there just weeks before Rangoon had fallen.

Without the Caliph's legions to protect them and the Sultan to maintain order, Zanzibar collapsed. The rich had found other playgrounds to enjoy themselves in, and whoever else had remained on the island was nearly destitute. Zanzibar had been one of the last territories to be liberated as well, nearly a year after the fall of Zapht, and the local garrison fought tooth and nail to keep control of it so as to maintain the base and thus a naval presence in the area. Whereas the Sultan had held out for three days, the Dominion soldiers had held out for three weeks. As such, the damages to Zanzibar City, the capital, and the other environs, were relatively fresh. And without money to pay for repairs, it stayed that was as the community got by on subsistance. And so it was until now.

It was a new moon, and power throughout the city had gone out as it always did at this time at night, leaving Zanzibar in perfect darkness, barring a few weakly lit candles here and there. This would work just fine for the group of men skulking about the city, heading south toward the unkempt airport that had once served powerful people.

"Are you sure they will see the flare?" asked one of the men, who could barely be called that at only 17. An older man (if one could call 32 "older") who was leading the way nodded.

"Our contact has told me they have already taken the other island," he said with a reassuring voice, "We just need to give them an idea of where to land and they can remove Mai Tzi from the city."

Mai Tzi had been a young girl when her family had fled Hong Kong just hours before the invasion. They had been one of the few who had managed to remain on the island despite everything, and now that Mai Tzi was grown up, had used her family's contacts to create a formiddable militia that controlled Zanzibar City and thus Zanzibar itself. To make ends meet, the militia had black market dealings with nearby Tanganorium, and thus was considered friendly to the government on the mainland.

For the men heading toward the airport, that was unacceptable, and ever since hearing about Waarland's liberation two weeks ago, were now leading a campaign of sabotage against the militia using equipment provided by SCORPION, who also knew where the best vunerabilities of Mai Tzi's gang were. The first one and a half weeks were quiet as they worked, but once all the weaknesses had been made bare, they signaled to SCORPION to send operatives while they prepared for the aftermath. And now tonight was when said operatives were to take on the militia itself, after having spent the last couple of days quietly securing Zanzibar's other island further out to sea.

"I see the fence!" observed a third figure, a girl no older than 15. The older one stopped as he looked to where she pointed.

"That is the airport perimeter," he stated with a nod, "We must be careful. Mai Tzi's people might nearby."

With that the three figures, accompanied by a dozen other people of similar age and all wearing black fatigues, crowded near the fence, carefully cut their way through without setting off the alarms, and then began to fan out and draw out their weapons, all modified farmtools. They had to secure the airport as quickly and quietly as possible before they launched the signal flare, or the militia would see SCORPION operatives landing and start a firefight, something all involved wanted to avoid at all costs.

----------------

In the air, an unmarked DCA transport flew over the skies, cargo hold full of operatives who were trained to help the locals secure the islands. All that was left to take now was the capital, and they needed to do it right under the nose of the Europeanists "bastard horde" as Colonel Za Zanga had put it. The plan was simple. They would land, set up a base at the airport, call in for reinforcements and begin coordinating the rebels to overthrow the Asian.

-----------------

Back on the ground, the infiltration group had secured 75% of the airport, the airfield having been empty of guards making that simple. Soon the group converged upon a one story, oblong airport terminal with a five story control tower. The group covered all entrances and surveyed all the personel as they were taught to do by the SCORPION operatives. They breached the tower first, to ensure radio communication would be in their hands, then they took the terminal. From breach to calling the building secure, they did it in less than fifteen minutes. Then, from the top of the control tower, they shot the flare.

------------------

The pilot saw the flare clear as day and began his decent. He called in his CO and told him to send in more aircraft to land at the airport which was now secure. In the meantime, his cargo prepared themselves to take over Zanzibar City.

OOC- I know I went real deep with Zanzibar, but I figured since I intend for it to figure alot in this conflict, that I give it a history. :P

More later. Just wanted to kick off the topic.

Day 2
0100 hrs
Zanzibar City, Zanzibar

The airport had been taken, and the locals had met up with the SCORPION team that had just landed, headed up by Captain Salim Beredei. He spoke to the eldest of the locals, the 32 year old,

"Are you in charge?" he asked politely. The thirty-two year old nodded,

"Yes, I am Karume. Mohammad Sharif Karume," he replied.

"Good to meet you," said Beredei, "I have recieved word that the countryside on this island has been taken by your people."

"Yes, we wanted to get this over with as soon as possible," Karume replied, "Mai Tzi thinks another rival is moving on her turf, but won't waste her resources unless they come after Zanzibar City. Especially since we have sabotaged those resources."

Beredei smiled, as did Karume.

"We will take the city very quietly. You understand the larger plan, yes?" Beredei asked. Karume's smile faded as he gave a nod, "Your men will eliminate Mai Tzi and her militia. My men will seize the key structures of the city and then declare a new government led by our group, the All-Africa Unity League."

"That is just the beginning," Beredei stated, "In return for us helping you get into power, you will allow us to use this island for future liberation operations."

"Of course!" Karume replied earnestly. SCORPION and all other branches of the DCA military were becoming memetic heroes among the population, and so to assist in their endeavors seemed to be a good opporunity, "Who is the target?"

"The Porcuian infested colony across the channel," Beredei replied with malice, "We have allies there. This is where we will help them from."

"Then let us get started."

OOC-

I'll move up in the next post.

Stockholm, Porcu

"Gentlemen, let us start..."

In existence for a year now, the EU had already demonstrated itself capable of taking the flag of economic, cultural, and technological progress for the world and leading the rest onwards. It had legitimized itself by meeting with the delegations of foreign nations and calling for and gaining trade restrictions against the Democratic Confederacy of Africa. One year after its foundation, it was time for the Presidency of the EU to switch hands, from the city-state of Hong Kong to the powerhouse of the membership the Republic of Porcu.

Haunted by the tribulations Nixon the Younger experienced with a local Islamist independence movement known as TIM, President Vinirimus was most concerned with the implications of a protracted situation in the now fully independent territory of Tanganorium. Nixon had nearly lost his re-election bid as President due solely to the unflattering news that streamed out of the former Porcuian dependency. With Porcu taking the reigns of EU leadership, Vinirimus was not about to let another TIM make a fool out of the world's premier economic power. The Council room fell silent as President Vinirimus adjusted his microphones slightly.

"No doubt many of you are celebrating what is, to be sure, a most momentous occasion and while I do not wish to dampen any joy or good feeling I feel it is my duty to relay a few inconvenient facts to the Council.

The EU has taken the world by storm. The Republic of Porcu stands singularly among all nations as the leader in economic strength and growth. Collectively with the EU however, she occupies a position rarely seen by other nations throughout history. Unfortunately, that seems to be where the EU's power and influence rests. Economic sanctions may work against fully-fledged nations and corporations, but it will not succeed in rooting out and defeating the sort of chaos we see erupting in Tanganorium.

The Abwehr [OOC: Porcu's Military Intelligence/Secret Service] has been tracking activity in the outer regions of Tanganorium and the islands of Zanzibar for a week now. Needless to say, the reports have not been pleasant to read."

"I assume you are referring to the news reports published in recent days? Those detailing outbreaks of violence..." the Prime Minister of the Vulso Islands asked.

"The very ones." Vinirimus responded.

"A small injection of police and EU gendarmerie should be sufficient." the Prime Minister of Araucanía suggested.

"A most excellent idea." the Vulso Is. Prime Minister barked.

"No." President Vinirimus said loudly and firmly. "Perhaps it would be best for my fellow council-members to brush up on their history. The Tanzanian Independence Movement proved difficult even for the Porcuian Wehrmacht to handle initially. It was a threat that started out just like this."

Vinirimus turned slightly and revealed a general who had accompanied the Porcuian President to the Council meeting. The general gave the President a small folder he had been holding and Vinirimus, in turn, re-focused his attention on the other council-members.

"I would like to propose that a serious intelligence and military effort is made and that the current situation is contained and unable to grow."

"What are you proposing President Vinirimus?" another head of government asked.

"That the Porcuian Wehrmacht is given the blessing of the EU Council and may begin operations against the spreading instability in Tanganorium. I also ask that EU member states contribute no less than 700 men for the creation of a EU security force, which will be lead by the Wehrmacht. We must also effectively take control of the internal operations of the government and work to seize all troublesome financial assets and accounts."

"You'll be moving against my state, as if in war!" the Prime Minister from Tanganorium bellowed.

"I do not believe this to be a wise action." the Vulso Is. Prime Minister added. "This proposal does not have my support."

Quickly, too quickly for Vinirimus' tastes, the EU Council voted against the Porcuian proposal for action. While the attention of the Council now turned to other matters, Vinirimus dejectedly sat in his chair.

Use this map as a visual guide to all the provinces and towns I'm rattling off.

IC-

2345 hrs
Dar-es-Salaam, Tanganorium
Two and a half months after the fall of Waarland

It had been two months since the anarchy in Zanzibar had fallen quiet. Intelligence agencies had an idea of what had gone on and feared the ramifications, but had little other than gut feeling to go on. All anyone knew was when Zanzibar went quiet, the problems in southern Tanganorium increased. The provinces of Mbeya, Iringa, Ruvuma, Mtwara, Lindi, Morogoro, Pwami had begun reporting disturbances in the smaller towns and some of the larger ones, in some cases including provincial administrative capitals. Most of these were by the TIM, an umbrella group of nationalist and Pan-African groups, including the local chapter of PAFRESOC, which was banned in the EU for promotion of armed sedition.

In Mbeya, the border towns of Tunduma and Tukuyu had already had little government presence due to the proximity of the DCA and now since the Waarland invasion had come under TIM control. The town of Mbeya, which served as the capital came under siege not a week after, and while the government had managed to hold it, it was at the cost of the hinterlands and the only other remaining government controlled town of Chunya, which had been emptied of law enforcement and troops to protect the provincial capital and thus fell without a fight.

In Iringa, Njombe became the rebel capital of the province, as TIM didn't dare attack Iringa city itself, due to it having an airport to reinforce itself with. Like with Mbeya however, the hinterlands became unpatrollable for government forces, who elected to fortify the city anyway.

Ruvuma was a different story. As it bordered Waarland to the south, there were many refugees, mostly supporters of the former Waarlander government, living in the tent cities. When TIM made their move in Tunduru, they met stiff resistance by impromptu militias (remnants of Waarlander regiments that had fled for their lives when the capital had fallen), thus beginning one of the most open battles of the rebellion, but because it had taken place in the refugee camps, Tunduru itself was not affected that badly. Indeed, to any police officer in that town, the fighting was barely noticed, the refugee camps already being a setting of unrest for various other reasons. The refugee factor in the province didn't end there with regards to TIM. In Songea, Ruvuma's capital, the airport was at capacity trying to care for refugees, and so had been caught totally unawares when car bombs went off near the food distribution centers and the runway began to be shelled by mortar rounds. TIM didn't enter the city, nor did the government suffer too much damage (even the runway would be able to be fixed within the week), but it caused enough panic among the citizens and refugees that the social order within Songea was beginning to break. TIM hoped to use that to their advantage some day.

Mtwara was even more different than Ruvuma. During the Waarland invasion, DCA units had crossed the border in hot pursuit of the Waarlander Presidential Guard. When the WPG had realized they had entered Tanganorium, they stopped running to claim asylum and to fight off the relentless pursuit. So came the quick but decisive Battle of Masasi. The DCA, who had not immediately realized they had entered another country, destroyed most of the WPG and with it, Masasi itself and all the local military and law enforcement in the area, thinking them to be Waarlander troops. It was only then that they were informed that they had crossed the border and retreated, leaving Mtwara without any way to enforce the law. TIM soon took over and became the de facto government in the area. It remains the only province entirely under TIM control.

With Mtwara under TIM control, Lindi was under siege immediately. The hinterlands had always been anti-government in this area, which helped, but surprisingly the rebels were only able to take the town of Lindi, all others remaining under government authority.

Morogoro, the largest of the southern provinces, was also the most secure from TIM. As per their usual, they held large sway in the rural bush, but Morogoro City itself remained firmly in government hands, including the immediate surrounding area.

Finally there was Pwami. Surrounding the city of Dar-es-Salaam, there was no chance TIM could take the province without incurring the city's wrath. That wouldn't stop them from berating the area with carbombs, IEDs, and mortars, but until they took Dar-es-Salaam, such a campaign was only a stunt at best. And so, with clandestine help from SCORPION, TIM inserted plainclothes and government disguised rebels into the harbor of Dar-es-Salaam....

More later. Wanted to give set up. :P

OOC: Though I don't care for the naming of other cities, I did change the capital city's name to 'Avaricum' (modern-day Dar-es-Salaam) as a reflection of its heavy Porcuian influence over the centuries.

IC:

"I've had enough of this!"

"Mr. President, please calm down..."

President Vinirimus was a difficult man to keep up with when he was angry - fuming rather. Another session of the EU Council had ended in another defeat for the Porcuian, his modest plans for action voted down time and time again. To compound that, his efforts to reform the EU Presidency to include some type of executive action, giving him a little more free reign in tackling the increasing problem in Tanganorium, were shot down as well. Now, as he strolled through the magnificent metal and glass structure that contained within it the Porcuian Parliament and administrative and operational offices of the EU, Vinirimus was tired of playing the diplomatic game and knew that the window of action was quickly closing.

Stopping briefly in front of the doors to the Parliament chamber, he turned to give his assistant a message. The poor fellow had just managed to keep up with the still agile President, pleased to stop and catch his breath, and took a moment to collect himself before standing straight again.

"I want the OKW Chiefs at my residency within half an hour."

"OK...but will you have finished here? I understand that today..."

"Yes, I'll be finished and ready to meet them. I'll only be giving a short speech today."

The President's assistant bowed respectfully before turning and walking off at a brisk pace. Vinirimus himself adjusted his tie, combed his fingers through his hair once, and entered the chamber. One of the last Members of Parliament to arrive, Vinirimus took his spot in the front row. He was surrounded by fellow party members and his Prime Minister. After a few pleasantries to open another session of Parliament, Vinirimus was given the floor by the Speaker.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I shall be brief this morning in my address to this body and will confine myself to the growing situation in Tanganorium. I shall defer to Prime Minister Numerius to address you on other issues, both foreign and domestic.

Now, I have just wrapped up another meeting with my colleagues of the EU Council and it seems that there remains a few qualms with my suggestions for action. Naturally, I wish that a solution agreeable to all parties can be found before it is too late; however, I fear that moment is approaching us at an alarming rate. In short, and without dancing around the issue, I would like for this body to deliberate on the possible necessity that may present itself sooner rather than later: that Tanganorium will effectively become a lawless state and will require the full support of the Porcuian government and the Wehrmacht. I hope that Parliament sees fit to grant the Wehrmacht the ability to see through this operation."

A roar exploded as Vinirimus stepped aside from the podium, bowed to the other Members of Parliament and then at the Speaker, and then promptly departed the chamber from one of the carpeted aisles.

...

"Sir?"

Vinirimus gazed up at his Army Chief of Staff, one among a highly selective group of military minds that made up the Supreme Command of OKW. The President's mind had wandered slightly, thinking about how he had simply dropped his poor friend the Prime Minister into a stew in Parliament. He was quickly called back to the present.

"Forgive me, gentlemen." Vinirimus said, taking another sip of his wine before taking a slow gaze at the generals before him. "To be frank, I believe something must be done if any remaining order is to be had in Tanganorium. Unfortunately, it seems that much will be needed in order to convince the EU Council to approve of any real operations in Afrika. Beyond letting the situation deteriorate to the point where the government in Avaricum is incapable of sustaining its own existence, in which case I hope the EU would relent to allowing the Wehrmacht to invade the country, I think that a serious intelligence operation is called for.

I am ordering that the Abwehr dispatch a small team to Tanganorium with the objective of uncovering information that would be capable of swaying the opinions of the EU Council. Naturally, an objective is to detail the situation further and gather information that would be useful during a large-scale military operation, but I would like to work small for now. Related to that, I am ordering that OKW prepares a number of full scenarios for Tanganorium."

"Shall we see if our allies are willing to assist us?" one admiral asked.

"Whom are you thinking of?" Vinirimus replied.

"The Confederates have an established military intelligence service and their efforts could prove invaluable."

"Very well. Though there's no need to scare them at the start, it would be convenient if they would be willing to give us a hand later on down the road, should it come to reinforcing Tanganorium with troops."

0940 Day 2
Avaricum, Tanganorium
Two and a half months since the fall of Waarland

The city of Avaricum (which the PAFRESOC and Islamist members of TIM insisted on calling it Dar-es-Salaam to make the place more palatable to their pan-Africanist and Islamist sensibilities, but kept getting shushed by the others) had become heavily fortified over the months in the wake of all the unrest to the south. The government soldiers had fled to Avaricum and Dodoma to help control the north and prevent the insurgency from spreading. As such, it was difficult for the disguised units to simply walk in, but through cunning they managed to get into the inner city neighborhoods, where they had a safehouse. There they suited up with the arms and ammunition carried by the city soldiers. They then waited as other disguised groups entered this and other safe houses throughout the city. The EU had no idea, but a regiment-worth or more of well-armed and well-trained rebels (and a few deep cover SCORPION special forces units tucked in amongst them) were slowly making their way from safe-house to safe house until finally they were in downtown. Once all were in the city, they made their way to the Tanganorium National Parliament...

It was almost time.

-----------------------------

0950 hrs
DSIS Listening Post, Mafia Island

Built after the war, Listening Post E-4-2478CLF was one of a great network of such posts hidden throughout the world to keep Kasnyia aware of the world's problems and actions, even if Guranburg remained unengaged. Until recently, the post had only acted as a relay for posts on the mainland monitoring the DCA...Kasnyia's former colony of Ziyer...run amok. The Directorate of Special Intelligence Services was Kasnyia's premier spy agency, famous during the war for handling the Peacock, but now far more quiet, especially at the small listening post off the coast of Tanganorium.

Then the news came in.

Another outpost, located in French Madagascar, had reported a large surface shp...a capital vessel, exiting the Mozambique channel from the south, reportedly turning west and heading east toward Kasnyia itself. Upon further analysis however, the ship's communications were briefly broken into before the signal died and the ship disappeared entirely. The chatter was related to Porcu and its territories...but which territories. And what kind of ship of the size described could it possibly be. The listening posts were in heavy communuiction with Guranburg that day. Indeed, if someone were lucky and persceptiive, one might even have an inkling of what was going on. Porcu would not be warned until more news could be gleaned from suspects.

-------------------

In Avaricum, the leader of the group silently directed them to large buildinings throughout the city, many of them skyscrapers. Then he took what seemed to be half the total force and barged into the Parliament itself,

"I am Commander Sharif Masood Cassio, I have come to announce that this building is now under siege and that if you attempt to leave, you will meet dire physical consequences," he stated with an arrogant smirk on his face before staring at his loyal soldiers, "Men! Set up!"

With that began one of the longest standoffs in history.

OOC- Would write more, but tired.

...

"Afrika?"

"Yes...Is there a problem?"

"Quite frankly, I was hoping you'd have something a little more exotic for me."

"Quit it, Major. Besides, our Confederate friend should be here soon."

"Oh, good...I wonder what sort of hell you'll be throwing us into? I hear Tanganorium is a wild place to be right now."

"Must I remind you of the possible alternatives available to you should you decline this mission?"

Major Von Falkenhayn Hans Klovinus [OOC: Following Porcuian custom of writing surname first, much like Chinese and Japanese] sat with a noticeable grin on his face. Indeed, the alternatives were things he'd rather avoid, though he felt nauseous being back in the Abwehr section of OKW Headquarters. Chief of the Abwehr Colonel General Maxinius Decius Merinius quietly looked back at the grizzled man before him, both gentlemen waiting for the man the Confederacy had decided to send.

"You know, I actually used to enjoy this line of work?" von Falkenhayn said, brushing the prickly mat of hair that adorned his cheeks, jawline, and chin.

"Without a doubt..." General Maxinius replied in a low voice, just as a knock came at the door of his office. His secretary popped her head in and announced that his visitor had arrived.

OOC: I hope this is alright NRE.

Within the hour, the Tanganorium National Parliament was fully fortified, as were some of the other structures throughout the city. Cassio had rounded up the MPs, who had been in session at the time, and had them all hog-tied in the main chamber. He then found the Speaker and had him ordered into the lobby, whose windows were now all slathered with black paint and newspaper to prevent anyone from seeing inside, where a camera on tripod was waiting, pointing to a blank background with a stool in front. The Speaker was then ordered to sit and, after being hancuffed to the stool, was told to read the statement that would come on the teleprompter on pain of death. The Speaker complied.

Soon the camera was turned on and the feed was sent live, using the Parliament building's National Address Television and Radio System.

--------------------

Across Tanganorium, the broadcast was sent to every building with a radio and television. It wasn't long before people started listening, some in fear, some in awe, all in knowing that what would happen next would determine the future of the country,

Tanganorium National Address Television and Radio System
Special Broadcast
"People of Tanganyika. I speak to you cowed as a criminal of Africa for being apart of those who betrayed and continue to betray your aspirations and trust. I speak to you to hail the coming of the new era when the Porcuist dogma and corruptions of African culture will be torn off the signs, removed from the texts, tabooed in our culture, as we accept our mother culture back into the arms of the people.

"We denounce and absolve ourselves of the Porcuist empire known as the Euroveraminius Union. No longer shall the Europeanists maintain authority within Africa. Instead, the Mintsa Doctrine shall become the basis of foreign policy of these lands henceforth. I call on all civil servants of Tanganyika to assist in the transition by removing Europeanist influences, non-African peoples, and establishing People's Rule throughout the country. Those who do not pledge alliegance to Africa, leave now if you value your lives.

"We ask the people of Africa not to let their great compassion being hijacked by the likes of the Europeanists. It must be reminded, for thos who have forgotten, and told for those who do not know, that these Porcuian dogs were allied to the Dominion, and used thier evil to their own ends. They are not to be trusted. And in anycase they are Europeanists, so they cannot be trusted anyway, but the association with the evil of Asia is to be underlined. Porcu is the evilist of the Europeanists and must be stopped.

"To that effect I, Ahmed Hans Gero, shall resign from my post as Parliamentary Speaker, along with all other members of the National Parliament, and will submit ourselves to a trial by the people for crimes against Africa and humanity. However, before this is done I declare as my last act as Speaker, the Government and Parliament of Tanganorium is to stand dissolved, with all powers and privaledges being handed back to the local legislatures and people of Africa, as represented by the Tanganyika Independence Movement and subordinates thereof. In my stead, Commander Sharif Masood Cassio shall act as interim leader of Tanganyika until elections can be called.

"May God and Africa have mercy on my soul and the souls of Europeanist dogs everywhere."

With that, he was dragged along with the stool out of sight of the camera. By now, most of the government troops in the city had been alerted and were now taking positions to establish a perameter against the barricaded suspects. With over two thousand innocents in the Parliament building alone, moving in guns abalze was not (yet) an option.

KNS Field Office,
Avaricum, Tanganorium
Fifteen minutes after the broadcast

"What the HELL is going on!?!" yelled the office head, "I sent out reporters ten minutes ago! I want interviews with the soldiers who are in the standoff against the rebels! I want a reporter to get in contact with the rebels! I want coverage of that standoff! I want statements from the government! From the EU! From the EU's allies! I want to HAVE A DOCUMENTARY'S worth of information ON THIS DESK by the end OF THE DAY!"

"Cameras are recording the standoff and we can send it live on your signal," said one of the aides, "We're awaiting the statement from both the EU and the government and we got nothing on their allies. Reports from soldiers are coming in and are being processed, and we're working on getting into contact with the rebels, though we're having a tough time convincing them that we're not government hostage negotiators."

The office head squeezed the bridge of his nose, "Do we have enough to make a special broadcast on the situation here for Guranburg to run?"

"Yes sir."

"Then get to it before RBCA or any of the other hacks do."

Half an hour ago, Tangorium Parliament Speaker Ahmed Gero made an unscheduled broadcast from the National Parliament building here in Avaricum. The broadcast, which we have been told and what seems to be quite evident in Mr. Gero's emotions was done under duress, declared that Tanganorium would be leaving the EU, cutting its ties with Porcu, and removing all references and names created during Porcu's rule in the region, made evident when Mr. Gero addressed the nation not as Tanganorium, but as Tanganyika, the local name for the territory that had long been relegated to history books. In addition, he has announced that he and all members of Tangorium's parliament have resigned and that the parliament and government of the country is now dissolved. In relation to that, he declared that the TIM, which has been fighting the government for weeks, will take over the state as the interrim government.

We're getting statements from the government forces here that, because Mr. Gero is speaking under duress, his statements are not being accepted and that the government here in Tanganorium will fight this, as they call it, insurrection. We'll have more as news breaks.

This is KNSi, signing off.

We shall send one of our best agents to Porcu without delay. Any further assistance needed shall be readily available upon request.

Stocholm is quite nice this time of year, Bill was right

John Thorton had never set foot in the Republic of Porcu himself but had always wanted to visit. Naturally, when his supervisors from the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) gave him his assignment, he almost jumped for joy. The Office of Strategic Services was first developed during the tenuous times of the Dominion Wars, when the Confederacy needed an ear to the grown and nose that knew when trouble was coming before it came. At least, that's how President Montgomery had put it when he first talked about such an organization with his advisers so many years ago. Still not as powerful as many in Atlanta would like, it was still a well organized and funded outfit, employing only the most exemplary of military officers and civilians alike.

Thorton....they could have come up with something a little less...distinguished couldn't they? John thought to himself as the car came to a stop and he exited, entering a Porcuian building were he had a meeting. John Hummer wasn't his real name, hell as long as he'd taken on so many personalities and names he sometimes wondered who the real person on the other side of mirrors was. Still, for nation and personal security, his real identity was a state secret and one he kept quite well. After coming to the proper floor of the building, a secretary showed the man into the room where his hosts were waiting for him.

Entering the room, he was quickly greeted, warmly I might add, by Colonel General Maxinius Decius and Major Von Falkenhayn Hans Klovinus. "Welcome to Porcu" both of the men said as they all shook hands. "Thank you very much, its a pleasure to be here" John replied before being offered a seat. He was eager to learn more about the reason he'd been sent to Porcu...

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

General Maxinius waited as his guests made themselves comfortable within the confines of his office. Major Von Falkenhayn shifted his sitting position, slouching slightly in the chair, and turned to the General as if to say, "Let's get a move on..."

"Gentlemen, thank you for coming." General Maxinius began. "No doubt word has reached our friends in Atlanta of the unfolding situation in Tanganorium and of the EU's reluctance to void the sovereignty of one of its memberstates. Despite the political difficulties, the Abwehr has been given express permission from President Vinirimus himself to commence with its own operations. I am honored to have agents of such caliber working on this mission."

The General's final comment drew a loud chuckle from Von Falkenhayn, who adjusted himself again in his chair. His disheveled appearance did not go unnoticed by the two Confederate agents. The major wears a dirty dress shirt that had not been washed in weeks, the top two buttons unbuttoned revealing a heavy haired chest. Un-ironed dress pants and shoes with no socks rounded off the outfit. In an attempt to keep his guests' attention, General Maxinius continued.

"You gentlemen will be accompanying Major Von Falkenhayn into the country and work to uncover as much as you can. Details regarding TIM's internal organization and the sources of their funding are crucial. As are details regarding external sources. The Abwehr has little evidence to go on, but it is believed that the DCA is actively working to subvert Porcuian and EU influence in the country.

"You will be provided only with the bare minimum of materials until we have something we can go on. Considering that Tanganorium is still a sovereign country, you'll have to avoid local police and officials as well - trespassing and all."

"Fantastic!" Von Falkenhayn yells, jumping out of his seat. "I hope you gentlemen don't mind calling me 'Sir'..."

...

Soon After News Of The Incident At The Tanganorium National Parliament

"There is not much time to waste!" the Tanganorium Prime Minister cried over the phone.

"No, there is not. Which is why..." President Vinirimus said before being cut off.

"We must speak with this Mr. Cassio. We must stall for time."

"Do what the police and intelligence officials tell you to do. I agree we must stall for time. I've made the necessary calls to OKW and the Wehrmacht is preparing itself."

"No!"

"No, what?"

"My country is still a member of the EU and we shall abide by their regulations and procedures. My fate rests with the EU Council."

"Prime Minister, you said yourself there is not much time! I cannot guarantee swift action by the EU; however, the Wehrmacht will be ready within the next couple of days. In the meantime, stay safe until a plane can take out of Tanganorium."

OOC: NRE, go ahead and post our team arrival into Tanganorium. Kas, feel free to write the storming of the Parliament building by government gendarmerie, otherwise I'll get to it in my next post.

OOC- If you don't mind, I'll have this standoff last a bit before I move in, but it'll get done in this post.

NRE, if you want any assistance in intelligence, you could always ask Kasnyia since they used to own Ziyer (or DCA as it is called now).

Day 3 of the Standoff,
Tanganorium National Parliament,
Avaricum, Tanganorium

In the couple of days since the transmission, there had been chaos as rioters took to the streets, peaceful protestors crowded near the police barriers, and the rebels continued holding out. By now, power had been cut, along with the water. Most of the locals new the lack of food wouldn't stay the rebels...some were thought to be cannibals after all, though the truth of that rumor had never been confirmed, it wasn't something they wanted to test. The City Gendarmerie wanted to move in now, but OKW had informed them that the Wermacht would take a couple of days from the time the order was given to the time they entered the city, so for the moment they were on their own. That and there was a lot of hand-wringing regarding the thousands of hostages being used as human shields...hostages who just so happened to govern the country.

In the time since setting up the perimeter, they had tried to negotiate, first with Gero, who was being forced into a spokesman role by the rebels, and then finally direct contact was attempted with Cassio, the self-appointed interrim leader of the people, to work out the release of the hostages. However, every time Cassio got on the phone, he would ignore everything the negotiator had been saying, and instead began reciting nationalist and pan-African hyms. It was like talking to a brick wall.

Then, a few hours ago Parliament Speaker Gero had been sent out, barely alive, his eyes gouged out and his arms broken. Nailed to his chest with a wooden stake was a list of demands from what remained of the national government, calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister. That was a step too far, and soon the commander on the ground for the Gendarmerie, Captain Akbar Octavius Lilledahl, decided to move in, without Wehrmacht or EU backup. Parliament would be liberated, he thought, Enough of these traitors. We need to get back to the business of government. And that means law and order. That means ending this.

Ten minutes after Gendarmerie is ordered to strike

"Boss! We got footage! They're taking in everything they got and the Wehrmacht isn't even here yet!" stated an aide, "This might get interesting fast..."

"Interesting?!" stated the station chief, "INTERESTING?! What do we know the Gendarmarie are carrying?! The heaviest stuff?!"

"Armored cars, miniguns, teargas, the usual," the aide replied as he flipped through his notes, "Nothing on the rebel's equipment though. Maybe the Gendarmarie knows something we dont..."

"Then find out, would you! We have a war to cover!"

-----------------------

The first steps were to send the barricades back one mile, to widen the perimeter. Then the armored cars inched closer. Then the City Gendarmerie moved in columns near each enterance. Lilledahl gave the order to blow the entrances. The troops moved in. And so started the siege.

OOC: I only sent one agent but if there is a necessity for two, I can change it!

IC:

The two agents took several connecting flights before coming into the country via a flight from Zeelar. Given the unfolding events in Tanganorium, the agents came into the country as two journalist from Russia. Their passports said that John Thorton was Vladimir Larionov and Major Von Falkenhayn was Konstantin Kharine, both journalist for a major political magazine out of Moscow. Cameras and notepads in hand, the two had little problems getting through the airports security. Both passed pretty well, their Russian accents were very convincing and talking to one another in full Russian as they walked through the airport only kept the ruse up. After having their bags checked, they walked out of the airport and grabbed their first cab. A short drive from the airport, the two agents came to the local hotel where reservations had been made. Checking in under their assumed names, the two agents went to their room and began to unpack.

"People seem pretty normal given what's going on in government" said Thorton.

"Probably just a burying the head in the sand syndrome" said Major Von Falkenhayn. "If they don't think about their problems, don't acknowledge them, then they don't exist. Terrible logic really"

"Agreed" said Thorton as he finished unpacking. "I guess we should get on the streets as soon as we can and get a feel for what the beat of people is."

The two agents soon left their room and were soon on the streets. Cameras and notepads in hand, they began wondering towards where the action was.

OOC- Part 2

On the many screens in the security control room for the building, which had become the TIM command post, Cassio could see the City Gendarmerie bursting through the barricaded doors using entry charges. He turned his nearest lieutenant,

"The perimeter has been breached. Are the sewers ready?"

"Yes sir," said the aide, "Shall I move the prisoners?"

"Are they ready?" Cassio asked, "Have they been prepared?"

"Sir!" the aide affirmed.

"Order teams A and B through the tunnels," Cassio replied, "I want team C to greet our new guests. May their souls be forever engraved in the history books as heroes and martyrs of Tanganyika and Africa!"

"Sir!"

----------------------

With that, TIM fighters, still dressed as City Gendarmerie, took positions in the lobby and began firing at the real Gendarmerie below. As the plaster was shot out of the walls by the grazing bullets, a cloud of dust began to envelop the room. Slowly, the Gendarmerie moved across the bottom floor of the lobby, then cautiously up the stairs, and saw nothing. The lights were off and smoke bombs had been released into the second floor. Preparing their masks, they moved forward and soon were ambushed. The fire fight lasted what seemed hours but took minutes and by the end of it, the floor was covered in blood and bodies. Once the dust settled, the Gendarmerie went ahead as a a few stood guard in the room.

They did not immediately notice that some of the dead bodies on the floor were wearing black hoods and were hog-tied.

Deeper in the Parliament building, assault rifle fire intermittantly rang out through the various areas of the complex, but for the most part it seemed strangely empty. City Gendarmerie went floor by floor and room by room, searching desperately for what had to be more troops. It just couldn't be possible that a building of this size could be held by only acouple dozen fighters...the building was normally protected by at least one hundred fifty guards at any one time. Eventually they decided the building was clear, and so assembled in the main Assembly Hall to be debriefed.

The bomb that had been planted in the Speaker's podium went off five minutes later, collapsing the building on top of the gendarmerie. Those who hadn't been instantly killed by the explosion were ripped apart from the raining cement, stone, and metal.

"I am making the same proposal as before." President Viriminus said calmly, the large computer monitor in front of him capturing his words perfectly. "Tanganorium is no longer capable of self-governance and therefore demands action by the EU. The Wehrmacht is fully prepared for deployment and a few EU memberstates are already prepared to donate a number of national gendarmerie into a collective EU force that will be sent to reinforce Porcuian efforts."

President Viriminus sat in his office inside the President's residence, its warm and comforting atmosphere helping to keep his mounting frustration and anger in check. Despite the obvious seriousness of the situation, the EU Council had rigorously kept to its meeting schedule and had meet no longer than it had previous decided to. Viriminus was able to arrange a conference call of sorts, but several heads of state were clearly not happy to have been called away from whatever activities they had been engaged in before.

"We've already discussed this Mr. President." one Prime Minister said annoyingly.

"Tanganorium has not called for an intervention to be made on its behalf." another head of state added.

"Of course it has!" Viriminus barked. "TIM has reorganized and is proving to be a very real danger and the National Parliament of Tanganorium was just stormed by gendarmes earlier today!"

"Where is the Prime Minister?" the same Prime Minister from before asked. "Why has he not made an official declaration? The situation does not yet merit the action of renouncing an EU memberstate its sovereignty."

"I've arranged for the Prime Minister to be flown out of Avaricum as soon as possible...Must I insult your intelligence by stating the obvious - that the Prime Minister is under threat and may lose his life?" Viriminus replied.

"What is the vote 'FOR' the motion presented by our Porcuian colleague the Honorable Mr. Viriminus?" another Prime Minister asked after a moment of silence.

The final count, with the vote given to Tanganorium counted as an abstention, was 7-3 'FOR'; however, a unanimous result was needed for Viriminus' proposal to take foot. Reform of the voting system was also not possible at present, as the same rules applied. Viriminus banged his fist on the desk in front of him before slamming the computer keyboard in front of him, finally exiting out of the group chat. For the next couple of minutes he sat in silence, mulling over possible actions for himself, the EU, and the Wehrmacht. When his Minister of Foreign Affairs entered the room, having waited outside through the entire session, Viriminus said that he'd wait a little longer before giving the Wehrmacht the go ahead. It was a tough decision to make, as more lives would no doubt be lost, but he hoped the increases in violence would finally jolt the dissenters among the EU Council into taking action.

...

Avaricum, Tanganorium

Eventually, the two agents arrived at the scene of all the action in recent days and were quickly held back and prevented from advancing further. Maintaining their Russian disguises, the two probed the number of gendarmes that were standing around, with only a handful willing to talk to what appeared to be two Russian journalists.

As Thorton played the gendarmes, Von Falkenhayn shifted his attention to the Parliament building itself, hoping in a strange way to see the madness that was transpiring inside. Once Thorton finished, Von Falkenhayn tried to approach a gendamerie commander but was forcefully shooed away. The two agents promptly left the area and returned towards their hotel, continuing on past it and into another section of the city. Having profited immensely from Porcuian investments, Avaricum stood as a model city for all Africa, containing a little bit of everything for everyone.

"Let's stop for a drink, I'm thirsty." Von Falkenhayn said to Thorton, not bothering to turn around and gauge his interest.

Thorton didn't mind the drink, wasn't as good as the home brew back home but wasn't too bad either. The two men sat in a both near the back of the bar, not so far in the back as it appeared they were trying to be inconspicuous, but far enough back not to be immediately noticed. Having not a lot of time to get to know one another, especially not on the plane ride, the men weren't really accustom to chit-chat between one another. However, at the moment as they sat in complete silence between one another it appear as if they weren't accustom to speaking at all.

"From what I got from the gendarmes" said Thorton, breaking the silence but not talking very loudly either, "anyone who saw anything in the parliament building is dead. However, there was something interesting I actually over heard two gendarmes discussing"

"Oh" said Von Falkenhayn, "what was that?"

"Well they were apparently doing a body count" said Thorton, "and naturally since they thought I was a Russian they must have believed I wouldn't understand them. Anyhow the point is, apparently they've dug out more gendarmes agents then they thought they sent in."

"What are you say?"

"I'm saying that some of the men they're digging out, apparently wearing gendarme uniforms may not be gendarme at all. Of course that doesn't really help us as I don't think we'd be able to ID them, not as bad as some of those bodies were so I suppose it doesn't put us much closer to the truth of what's going on here...."

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

Von Falkenhayn grunted, a blunt acknowledgment of his partner's interesting observation. He downed the rest of his drink, somewhat disappointed at its lack of strength, and gazed around at the bar.

The establishment was homely, its large glass windows providing enough light that additional lighting even at the back of the bar was not needed. The place did not smell of the usual odors one might come to expect of similar establishments, a very big plus in the Major's books. Eventually, his eye caught what appeared to be a young boy, no older than thirteen or fourteen, speaking with the bartender and another gentleman. They were too far away for him to hear anything, but they drew Von Falkenhayn's suspicion and due attention.

"You have your pistol on you, correct?" Von Falkenhayn whispered to Thorton, his English rather good compared to other Porcuians Thorton had heard during his short trip to the Scandinavian country.

"Yeah, why?"

"Just checking."

Von Falkenhayn rose from his seat in the booth and walked over to the bar counter, just within earshot of the young boy, the bartender, and the other gentleman. The other gentleman in question dress in the traditional garb of those who lived further inland - those who very often felt proud to spit in the face of Porcuian influence. Von Falkenhayn waited patiently for the bartender to notice him before placing another order of drinks, all the while listening in to what was being said. Fortunately, the Major was practiced in the local Swahili dialect that was common among the inhabitants of the interior of Tanganorium, including among TIM.

"...That's good news is it not?" the young boy asked.

"Of course, but there is still much to be done. The rot that pollutes this city and this country have yet to fully understand what is coming."

"In any case, your shipment has arrived and is waiting safely near the docks."

"You are a good boy and a pious Muslim, may Allah see fit to bless you."

"Thanks be to God." the boy said, quickly taking his leave and running out of the bar.

Having returned to his booth alongside Thorton, Von Falkenhayn waited for the bartender and the other gentleman to finish their conversation. The gentleman finished the last of his coffee before bidding the bartender farewell, disappearing out the main entrance and down the street. Von Falkenhayn nudged Thorton's foot, signaling it was time for them to leave. Both agents got up, paid for their drinks by leaving the necessary coins in Porcuian Denarii down on the table, bid the bartender a good day with their heavy Russian accents, and searched briefly for the mysterious gentleman. Nowhere to be seen, Von Falkenhayn turned to Thorton as they walked slowly down one of the streets that would lead them back to their hotel.

"What was all that?" Thorton asked quizzically.

"It may not be much, but I think we may have a lead." Von Falkenhayn responded. "They spoke of a shipment that had arrived recently and its now sitting in wait at the docks. I suspect they're weapons, but who knows."

"They'll probably wait a little longer, at least until it gets a little darker."

"Uh..." Von Falkenhayn grunts approvingly.

OOC: I'm leaving this plot quite open for you two. Feel free to build it up and work off each other as you see fit. No worries with details. Kas, if you want me to help you RP TIM and some of the insurgents, just let me know.

One week after the collapse of Parliament,
Avaricum, Tanganorium
0450 hours

Teams A and B had made it out before the demolition of the Tanganorium National Parliament had collapsed the sewers. As soon as they were in the clear, Cassio ordered Team A to split up and reconvene with the other disguised rebels that had fanned out throughout the city prior to the takeover of Parliament. Team B on the other hand was ordered to split into two sub teams, one heading to Nixon Memorial Hospital, and the Avaricum Terminal Rail Station. They kept quiet, they blended themselves among the crowd. As both sub-teams were getting into position at their respective targets, they sent in two squads of rebels to head to the docks to collect a package that Cassio would need later and weapons for themselves.

Von Falkenhayn and Thorton took their time in returning to their hotel, poking their noses around a few more public establishments that could offer them something in the way of uncovering more of TIM. Despite the excellence of the Porcuian Abwehr, details surrounding TIM were still too few to form an accurate picture of the organization. Add in the fact that the EU Council had yet to make an official statement and one could easily see how little confidence there was in the success of any operation at this time. The Porcuian agent and his Confederate counterpart were the best that could be mustered under the present political conditions.

Hours later, once the sun had forfeited its position in the sky, the two agents began to prepare themselves. Von Falkenhayn pulled out a medium sized suitcase and opened it, revealing an assortment of cameras and camera parts. All neatly packed it and held in place by black padding, it was what lay underneath that interested Von Falkenhayn. Lifting the padding from the suitcase exposed a number of valuable items for the two agents, including an additional pistol for each, plenty of ammunition, flashlights, a night vision headset for each, and an array of smaller gadgets.

"Considering the security around the main docks, I imagine that they wouldn't try to arouse any suspicion by attempting to transport and unload any equipment there." Von Falkenhayn said, loading a few pockets with ammunition magazines.

"Weren't there a smaller set of docks just north? Might that be more convenient for TIM?" Thorton responded.

"Precisely."

...

It was a joy for Von Falkenhayn to be out of Porcu. Even during the summer, the weather was never truly hot or dry, with wind currents from the sea cooling the interior rather effectively. No doubt, the Scandinavian country was a wonder to travel through during the summer, but unlike his comrade Von Falkenhayn was being to sweat heavily despite moving only occasionally.

The two agents had wandered the Northern Docks as inconspicuously as possible, finally feeling that they had found what they had been looking for. Now they sat and waited for their targets to make a move.

Meanwhile throughout Southern Tanganorium, the loss of Parliament had energized the rebels in the hinterlands. Soon, Mbeya, Iringa, Ruvuma, Mtwara, Lindi, and Morogoro had fallen entirely to TIM rebels thanks to the help of impromptu uprisings and strikes by the population in the major cities. The army did what it could, but superior firepower only held off the superior numbers for so long. Soon, once it was clear those provinces had been taken, the fighting spread to Rukwa and Kigoma, which had been untouched before. In Pwami, which was just south of Avaricum, the fighting became intense, but the government held its ground, even has chaos started to trickle into Avaricum itself.

Secret Transmission to the EU

I see you are all having trouble with this unrest that has broken out in Tanganorium. You are loosing territory, money, and political capital by the day. We can offer a loan and perhaps some contacts with those who might help your situation, if you desire. We can discuss what to put up for collateral later. But do accept the money...you seem to need it.

If you accept, send a man to the Altaire Hotel in Rome, alone. A representative will meet with you.

Yours in commerce,

"What is this?" Viriminus asked quizzically, holding in front of him the anonymous note.

The Porcuian President's aid just lifted his shoulders, unsure himself, and finished handing Viriminus the papers and folders he was taking with him to the EU Council meeting. With a short bow, the aid disappeared and allowed the President to make his way into the room. Already most of the responsible parties had arrived and were in attendance, including Servius Servianus Luminus the Prime Minister of Tanganorium. The dark-skinned head of state had managed to keep himself alive by hunkering down in a small office complex on the outskirts of Avaricum. Porcuian officials were able to finally lift him out of the country once he and his family were reunited and safely accounted for. He rose from his assigned seat and warmly greeted Viriminus, who dropped the stack of papers he was carrying on the desk in front of him. A short time later, the meeting began.

"...and that gentleman is the latest the Abwehr has been able to uncover." Viriminus said, wrapping up his presentation. "Satellite imagery should leave no doubt that substantial instability now rocks the country and that firm, concentrated action is now no longer debatable."

"And what would you have us do?" the Prime Minister from the Vulso Islands barked. "My constituents will not throw away the lives of hard-working and honest young men and women."

"Why do you assume we are throwing them away?" Viriminus asked back calmly. He had gotten quite used to such nonsensical responses after his introduction to the EU Council.

"Yes; besides, the Wehrmacht will be taking the lead in all operations." the Prime Minister from Hong Kong Hayato Ikeda added in support of Viriminus. "But, is it not an obligation of this Council to assist and provide aid to its member nations when necessary? What of our shared moral obligation and responsibility?"

"Where was the Wehrmacht when Dominion forces marched through the streets of Singapore unopposed? No help was sent then and we were under the thumb of the Dominion until the end!" the Prime Minister from Singapore yelled.

"So we should allow tyranny to reign over another nation, just to satisfy and appease your sense of fairness?" Viriminus asked.

This reply stung the Singaporean Prime Minister, his face swelling and reddening, who muttered a number of things under his breath.

"You all are aware of the plans the Wehrmacht would carry out, but I would like to show the Council something that I received just today." Viriminus continued, holding up for all to see the small anonymous note that had been sent. As a scan of the note appeared on a small screen beside each Prime Minister, Viriminus explained. "The Abwehr cannot deduce the origin nor the producer of this note, but they do not believe that it poses any sort of threat or that it is an encoded message from TIM."

"Well? Do we accept?" the Prime Minister from Montarorium asked after having read through the note.

"I say we do not." Viriminus said. "The potential downfall should such a connection be established and subsequently uncovered is too much of a risk."

"I agree...The result could be disastrous to the EU's image." the Prime Minister from Hong Kong said.

"But what if we were able to purchase the services of mercenaries? We would not have to worry about shipping off our own men and women." the Singaporean Prime Minister asked.

After further deliberation and many more instances of raised voices and shouting, the final votes had been cast on a number of issues. Firstly, it was finally decided that the Wehrmacht would be released and would begin to conduct operations against TIM and similar organizations in Tanganorium. The price for this unanimous decision was that an official from the Vulso Is. would meet with this anonymous representative in Rome. He was instructed not to accept the money, but rather to ask for the contacts the speaker of the note alluded to. Secondly, the Wehrmacht would not be able to commence operations until the possibility of using non-EU troops or professionals was eliminated. Viriminus was happy to finally have the approval of the EU Council to move against TIM, but he was rather uncomfortable with this anonymous third party and was determined not to let it interfere. He therefore ordered for the Abwehr to send a man to Rome to disrupt the proceedings and spy on the representative and the official from the Vulso Islands.

If his intuition proved correct, this anonymous group would not tolerate such a thing.

OOC: I have returned!

IC:

Thorton and Von Falkenhayn decided to take position atop the roof of a small supply shed off the main buildings of these small northern docks. From this position, camouflaged by the arch of the roof itself, the two agents could see everything within the immediate area. There was a main storage building that the two agents had pinned as the spot where this shipment had to be currently located. All they need now was for someone to come for the shipment and they could see if Von Falkenhayn hunch about it being weapons was correct.

By now the sun had completely retreated across the horizon and the moon was slowly make its way to the apex of its position in the sky. With the sun gone the night air was both cool and crisp, something that reminded Thorton of nights along the eastern coast back home. Looking at his watch, Von Falkenhayn began wondering if anyone was going to show up when some dim headlights could be seen coming close towards the docks. The small truck stopped just a few feet from the building and two men stepped out. Through the night vision goggles Von Falkenhayn could see that one of the two men was the same man from the bar. The other man he'd not seen previously but got Thorton, who was watching the two men through his camera (also equipped with a night vision lens), to take the two men's photographs to send back to HQ for facial recognition.

The men said nothing to each other as they stood at the truck. Soon two other vehicles came towards the docks and parked near the truck. This brought the count of individuals to eight and Thorton took as many pictures as he could until the group made their way to the large supply depot and entered, out of Thorton's site.

"I'm going in for a closer look" said Von Falkenhayn as he slowly moved down the roof line and then climbed to the ground. Two men soon came out of the building before Von Falkenhayn could make his was completely to the building, obviously the two poor souls put on guard duty. Moving to the side and well within the shadow of the building, Von Falkenhayn made his way to a small window and reached into his jacket pocket. He pulled out both a listening device as well as a small periscope device and with his back against the wall of the building, he slowly attached a small suction cupped listening device on the window above him before extending the periscope for him to see. Placing the headset into his right ear, he listened in as he watched the men inside.

"So is everything here" asked one of the men on the inside.

"Yeah we checked it as soon as it came in" said another, larger man.

"I want to see it just to make sure."

"You're the boss....."

The two scouts from the Team B subgroups were checking the weapons in the boxes and silently moving them on to the truck they had nearby, leaving the special package last. Once they got to the package, they opened it...

"Are these safe to handle?" one asked,

"Word from Cassio was that the packages had to be handled delicately, at least until they needed to be used," replied the other, "We'll be getting more of this stuff if Cassio is satisfied."

"How'd we get ahold of such a thing?"

"We have contacts in Sutekh Te Ankh who are only too happy to get 'schmucks like us' to do the dirty work for them."

"No kidding."

OOC-

Hope that was hint enough. :P

To the Abwehr, and to the Confederate Office of Strategic Service

In as much as we have been able to, we have used restraint. However, should it be permitted (IC and OOC, that is) ST9 may be of some assistance. Africa is, in the end, our backyard.

Ulganian assistance is much appreciated. The EU is moving to establish a temporary force that will assist the Wehrmacht in Tanganorium. Information related to TIM's operational status and capability is still inadequate.

...

Von Falkenhayn grit his teeth when the insurrectionists began looking at and handling the last of the packages carefully. Despite being relatively well-positioned, he could not make out exactly what was inside or what the insurrectionists were handling, though with the other major events of the continent he certainly could guess. Taking a moment, Von Falkenhayn motioned for Thorton to join him. By the time that the Confederate agent joined his Porcuian comrade, Von Falkenhayn had already begun forwarding the bits of audio to the Abwehr in Stockholm. Hopefully, they would be able to analyze the data and have something useful for him. Thorton too had peered into the periscope and taken note of the special package.

"We're going to have to intercept that last package and whatever is in it." Thorton whispered to Von Falkenhayn while still looking through the periscope. "The way they're handling it..."

Von Falkenhayn grunted approvingly. "Come on, we've got to get into a better position."

Soon the packages were on the move, back to their respective subgroups of Team B located at Nixon Memorial Hospital and Avaricum Terminal Station. The team at the latter location was ordered to make their move first, and soon trains passing by were clandestinely boarded by rebels disguised in normal civillian clothes. Some of them carried small packages whose contents were the same as the special packages.

In Zanzibar, the island nation had remained fairly quiet and despite creating an initial blip in the radar of local intelligence agencies in the region, had fallen quiet again. The warlord and weapons runner Mai Tzi had fallen and now the island was believed to be in a quiet state of chaos. For the SCORPION operatives on the island however, the quietness was a good shroud for the operatives to help local rebels, the Zanzibar Patriotic Front, establish a government. And now they were almost done.

In South Tanganorium, TIM-affiliated militias were taking on government forces in the strategic transport hub town of Tabora, capital of the province going by the same name. The fighting was truely pitched, with the superior numbers of the militia and their technicals going against tanks and company of soldiers in the town. Taking it would mean cutting off the Lake Victoria region from Dodoma, the next biggest city in Tanganorium after Avaricum itself, and the next likely target of the TIM.
