Royal Broadcast Corporation of Alexanderhaven, Home Desk Greetings, this is the RBCA. We come to you live from the Transportation Ministry here in the Royal City, where Transport Minister Nicholas Richet has announced that the Royal Alexanderhaven Rail Company has just sent a memorandum of understanding to his counterpart in Constantinople to begin the construction of the Trans-Babylonian Railway. The rail will be started here at the capital, before it continues to Qasrstadt Port, just to the south, where an underwater tunnel going along the gulf in international waters will connect the port to the Kingdom's North Gulf provinces. From there, the rail will be back above ground and will then take a straight shot across Babylon to Constantinople, where it will then be connected to Byzantium's rail network. If successful, the rail will be branched off to also connect to Russia via the Caucasus mountains. Rumors of the network making use of undestroyed elements of the former Dominion Trans-Eurasian rail network remain unconfirmed at this time. This is the Royal Broadcast Corporation of Alexanderhaven with the news at the top of the hour. RBCA - Your Top Choice In Information. OOC- Bear in mind that Alexanderhaven doesn't recognize any of the countries between itself and Byzantium that are in the Mesopotamian region. |

Royal Broadcast Corporation of Alexanderhaven, Business Desk Greetings, this is the RBCA. Following the announcement of the creation of the new railroad, the Royal Alexanderhaven Rail Company has announced that, as this venture is intended to be international in nature, RARC will be creating a joint stock corporation that will control all operations of the railroad and manage which rolling stock is allowed on the rail, though the railroad itself will remain a 50/50 venture between the Royal City of Alexanderhaven and the City of Constantinople. The new company will be Babylonian Rail JSC, with Alexanderhaven and Byzantium each owning 15% with a 15% option for Russia should it get involved. Rules set dictate that no private buyer can own more than 5% and no government buyer can own more than 10%. This is the Royal Broadcast Corporation of Alexanderhaven with the news at the top of the hour. RBCA - Your Top Choice In Information. |

Construction began with great fanfare at the newly built Grand Royal Terminal in downtown Alexanderhaven. A single golden nail was hammered into the first rail tie by the head RARC, Baron Paulus Abuhn. He hoped the Patriarch would be the one to hit the final nail in Baghdad rather than whoever the Byzantines would send, but then it was meant to be a friendly race to the center, so he just enjoyed himself instead. |

As the channel tunnel had already been finished prior to the announcement of the line, it wasn't long before the first station outside of Alexanderhavenien territory was constructed. This was the Grand Basra Station. Consisting of eight lines on four major platforms, the stattion would not only serve the TBR, but also the existing Lower Mesopotamia Rail Network left over from when the Dominion controlled the area. Grand Basra Station was set to become the auxillary hub for the one planned to be set up in Baghdad, which was set to become the largest train station in the middle east once it was built. With the railroad itself still being laid down, the station was, for the moment acting as a work station to reroute the lines on the LMRN into and around the station to make space for the TBR. Stationed along with the workers was a regiment of troops to protect against bandits and harrassers. |

As railroad continued to be laid toward Basra, it was decided to get a head start on the Basra-Baghdad leg. With troops from three different states ready to protect the line, RARC decided it was time to finish what was started. They also signaled to their people in Constantinople and Tbilisi to begin construction from their end as well. The Trans-Babylonian Railway would be completed hell or high water. |

While independent from the control of Moscow, most of Georgia operated on infrastructure the Russians had built in one decade or another. The newest parts of this infrastructure coming from of course the Russian Empire of the current era. While Georgians certainly had the technical skills to maintain these roads, rail-lines, power grids, and other essentials themselves, the Southern Georgians weren't afraid to contract the work out even if those contracts fell in the hands of the Russians. This never conflicted with the the Guranburg Peace Accords given that the Accords barred Russia from entering into a military alliance with either of the Georgias and no provisions were made either to support to deny Russia with having economic ties either either Georgia. In fact, Georgia remained within Russia's circle of trading partners, at least the South did as Russia had a good deal of what Georgia needed and Georgia, had luxury products the Russians rather not live without. Still while Russia and Southern Georgia cooperated economically through various companies, diplomatically they remained distant as neither side had official relations with the other. So when it came to the construction of the Transcaucasia section of the Trans-Bablylonian Railway, the best place to start was in Southern Georgia. The government of Southern Tbilisi agreed to cooperate with the project after generous donations were made on behalf of TransRossiyskie Zheleznye. Once this had been done, the company was free to begin the drastic modifications they had designed to bring the various small lines into the much larger Railway system. Back in Moscow,Count Bobrinsky of the Transportation Ministry maintained apprised of all developments made in the line in Southern Georgia. One of his various aids was given the sole duty of handling every report and seeing to it that it made it to the Minister's desk. Copies of these reports of course made their way to the Tsar's desk as well, most of the time prompting a phone conversation between the Tsar and the Count. "Yes your majesty, the railway is on schedule just as we promised our allies in Alexanderhaven. The Southern Tbilisi government is cooperating with the company fully, especially given that generous donation that you helped secure. Can I assume then that the operation is vastly approaching.........I see, well then certainly your majesty is growing in anticipation for that day........as am I your majesty, as am I. Surely your father will be a very proud man when that day comes......yes indeed, Russians all over the Empire will celebrate it without a doubt.......Of course your majesty, I will let you go but I will speak with you again as soon as I get my next report." |

The Great Terminal of Baghdad, officially known as the Central Mesopotamia Rail Transit Hub, had its cornerstone laid to signal the beginning of construction. With the rail section for the platforms already in place and being added on to to connect with Basra, the site would see trains before they saw people at the rate things were going. RARC was also recieving word that the line was being started in southern Georgia as well, and so Alexanderhaven would begin construction of the Baghdad-Tblisi section from their end as well. Things were going ahead of schedule. |

The railway has been completed to the great city of Baghdad. The station there is also almost completed. The construction is continuing northward into the Caucasus. The Caucasus-Khorasan line has commenced construction, as has the Georgia-Byzantine Line. Soon, Constantinople, Tblisi, Baghdad, and Alexanderhaven shall take their rightful place as the spine of all rail traffic throughout Eurasia. - Press Release from RARC |

Due to some trouble in the local nation of Hallistar, always unstable after the Dominion Wars, and due to this instability threatening the peace and the viability of the Alexanderhaven-Tblisi section of the Trans-Babylonian Railway, His Holiness the Patriarch Michael II has ordered troops into the area to assist the local government in controlling unrest. |

OOC- Heh. You had a nation in the middle east earlier of the same name that was located where RL Kuwait is. When your nation died, I had to RP its annexation for the railroad. I didn't think you were coming back. This is in no way related to your nation as it is now. |
