With the reestablishment of its glorious cruise and cargo shipping industries, Ranier Shipyard, the parent company of Ranier Cruise Lines, decided that it would parcel out new property for itself for commercial use on the Eastward side of Australia, as both a vacation dream spot that was far enough away from Kasnyia and any of her provinces to be considered a true getaway by the Kasnyian people (and earning some extra tourism revenue for Kasnyia from outsiders as well), as well as an auxillary base for its fleet. That property was Tazmania.

Already, Kasnyia had a naval base and airfield there (inherited from the Dominion via war reparations) and already a trading outpost had been established and was growing, but the island had not been incorporated yet. This would change soon, as a few days before, the Interior Ministry announced that the Tazmania Military Zone would be dissolved and replaced with the District of Tazmania, to be administered by Aschlenburg, the capital of the Imperial Governorate of Australia. For Lord Edmund Ranier II, the current CEO and President of his family's flagship firm, this meant he would have to take the opportunity now to have the island (with the exception of existing infrastructure such as the naval base, etc.) placed under Ranier Shipyard's conservatorship.

He carefully negotiated the terms of the agreement. For 100 years, the Imperial Kasnyian government would allow Ranier Shipyard to manage the 65% of the island not already in use. In return, over half of that property would have to be conserved as a nature preserve, with the rest being allowed for whatever use Ranier saw fit. Both the airfield and the naval base would have to be leased seperately with the Defense Ministry. Furthermore, despite the conservatorship, all rules and regulations by Ranier were subject to review from Aschlenburg, though the Ranier administered territories would not be automatically subject to local laws of the Governorate. A month later and Tazmania was incorporated and a week after that, Ranier construction crews started building the resort island of Lord Edmund's dreams.
