If the two spies expected for anyone to approach them, they'd be waiting there for all eternity. And so they did wait, as most people kept to themselves and kept their heads down, for the Communist authorities were always on the watch and especially suspicious this far north. No one went out of their way to approach the two agents, but they did gain the scrutiny of a couple of Yshurakan patrol officers that stepped in and remained near the entrance, presumably there to ensure everyone's "safety."

Another highlight was a peculiar conversation down the aisle about blueberries, pop rocks, inner tubes, and other unusual items. Either the people having the discussion had too much to drink or they were possibly talking in code.

Both Sergei and Anna were a bit disappointed when, after an hour of waiting nothing had happened. Although it shouldn't have surprised them given their years under the communist regime, they were still hoping that people were a bit more daring than they apparently were. Hoping to expedite the situation, Sergei moved from the booth up to the bar itself, ordering another drink. While the men already at the bar gave him various looks, he did nor said nothing so as not to agitate them. After a few minutes he motioned at the bartender and leaned forward.

"I am a traveling salesman and am looking to find buyers for my merchandise. As I am unfamiliar, where does one go to sales unusual items?" Sergei then slips the bartender a business card that has no writing, simply two AK-47's crossed like an "X."

One of the people looked down at the card and smirked.

"Well, if you're interested in the honey, we can get you a mish-mash to see the top-hats and let 'em cogitate that you've smelled the rosebuds," the man said with a smirk, scribbling down an address and time. " 'Course peepersneaks won't be welcome and be Swissed cheese. Catch my word?"

He pushed the piece of paper over.

Sergei gave a nod of understanding though in truth he was a bit confused. That said, he discreetly took the paper and the instructions were clear enough. Apparently the meeting would be tomorrow, fair enough since the day had long since pasted. Returning to the table he and Anna finished their last drinks and then strolled out of the establishment and down the street to a local inn. Though they received the same "welcome" as they did in the bar, at least the inn keeper spoke more to them but then again, that was his job. They get a good sleep tonight and head out the next morning to find the location on the card, making sure to be punctual about their arrival so as not to make their hosts wait.

Meanwhile, Major-General Tovarishch was at a loss for where Russian involvement should go next. The rebel attack against Yshurak's ports and naval facilities had set back the Communist severely in terms of their involvement in the Baltic War and Crusade. It made sense that the rebels would want to disrupt the Communist but that they'd make such a bold move that would help out the Catholics was puzzling. Were there religious people in Yshurak, the thought was as much intriguing as it was puzzling. The Russians had every belief that the Communists had stamped out religion, but maybe pockets existed. Maybe they were even Catholic or maybe not, it really didn't matter because the attacks were over and done with now, leaving the Communists to pick up the pieces. Moscow personally, was becoming impatient with the war against the rebels and some military commanders wanted to call the troops home. They felt they'd be better used protecting the homeland or fighting along the Cologne fronts. If Russia's involvement in its neighbor's affairs were going to change, the Major-General was not privileged to such information from command.

The meeting locale appeared, from the outside, to be a simple shop. Amusingly, and pretty much mandatory, the shop featured a state commerce license of approval taped to its front window. Fortunately, the waiting line for whatever goods the shop sold was a short one. When the agents reached the counter after the person before them left with a lamp, the clerk eyed them thoughtfully and then smiled.

"Your chest is too large for me to give to your over the counter, chompers," the clerk said, seeming to use the same odd slang at the end of his sentence that the folks at the bar used. "You'll need to go around to the back to claim it." He slipped them a ticket. "Don't make any eye contact with the blueberries if you see any."

Following his directions, Sergei and Anna went around the building to the back and found a couple of people standing out there, one of them familiar from the bar.

"So you chompers made it," he said with a smile. He turned and pushed a button on the intercom. "Potato hammock."

There was a soft click from the door and he pushed it open before leading the agents in while the other fellow remained outside to keep watch. Inside there were a few ragtag individuals sitting amongst a bounty of wooden crates.

"Here's the two I was telling you about," he said to the others.

One stood up and nodded. "Now it's time to determine whether you two truly are on the level."

Sergei and Anna were shown into the room, both taking mental notes of their surroundings and the individuals with whom they would now be spending time and company with. Once shown in and given a seat, they were of course asked questions, most basically what the two of them wanted with their group, Sergei decided to do the talking.

"Comrades....of perhaps, patriots." said Segei, "yes....patriots, Patriots of the people of Yshurak. My name is Sergei, surnames in the business not really necessary as I'm sure you'll agree. My associate here, her name is Anna, and I have sought out your particular group for the purpose of business. We represent the Tenʹ ruki Bratva, and while I make no presumptions you know who or what that is, I can assure you that they can often a product you can use."

The men in the room seemed less than impressed as Sergei continued.

"Weapons ladies and gentlemen, weapons. Small weapons, large weapons, and all the accessories to make you giggle like a young school girl. All for a price of course, but like many things in life, price is always negotiable. Perhaps, and more importantly, we can provide parts and tools with which to keep your army and forces going until victory."

The fellow who seemed to be in charge of this rebel cell stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I suppose we need all the arms we can get, as long as you can deliver."

"Now hold up," another rebel spoke up. "Weapons aren't all we need. Food and medical supplies are rather scarce. We're practically drowning in arms thanks to the Swiss guys a while back. I think our health is a little more important, as all the guns in the world are meaningless if you're too weak and tired to carry them. Do these guys have food and medicine available?" She looked at Sergei and Anna thoughtfully.

"Shh, ixnay on the Swiss," the leader retorted with a growl. "And anyway, arms are good. There's always need for arms, especially with the Communist buildup our contacts are reporting from the south. Some say that they're planning to go after our forces at the Gritzmarov Airfield. And we've already suffered enough losses with the recent raids against our safehouses, and they're mapping the deep, dark, dim. They're moving in on us and if we aren't prepared, we're all gonna get chomped!"

Sergei smiled, "Food, why I can have some of the most delicious and mouth-watering food you've ever eaten. Why, it'll be so good it will make you want to go home and smack your mother cause it will be twice as good as her cooking. Medicine is something we can deliver too, the basics I imagine are what you're in the direst need for yes? Antibiotics, bandages, splints, things of thins nature? Yes we can get it in, same way I imagine we got ourselves in too."

He looked at Anna, a face of I've got them now before turning back. "So food, medicine, and guns....guns and butter as those Americans say yes? Fresh clothes too? Really there's little limit to what we can bring in for the fight. Well nukes, they're difficult and of course, this all hinges on the very important and please let us not forget, price. I said before and I'll say it again, price is negotiable but I can't guarantee it will be cheap. But hell, nothing in life worth having comes cheap and I imagine you folks realize this more than most in this world."

The female rebel made a sour look at the word "nukes," indicating that she wasn't particularly fond of the idea but the cell leader's eyes lit up like Christmas lights when he heard it. It would seem that the leader of this cell was a bit of an extremist.

"Very well," the woman said with a hint of reservations in her voice, "since you can provide the food and medical supplies we need, I see no reason why our top hat here should refuse you."

"Thank you," the cell leader said with a smug smile as he turned his attention now fully to the two "weapons dealers." "I fully accept your offer, because we really need the help. I can tell that you guys are from out of country, it doesn't take genius to see that and I don't care what country you are from, just so long as you're helping. On your way out, I'll have my guys give you some coordinates where you can meet our little rebellion's 'supply officers.' Now get out of here and take that antique chest over there with you before the peepersneaks around here start getting suspicious and call in the blueberries."

Sergei would have tipped his hat had he been wearing one but since he wasn't, he figured a smile and thank you did just enough. He took the coordinates given to him, putting them into his phone and then motioned Anna that it was time to leave. The two took the chest and walked out the backdoor in the same fashion as they had entered. Walking back around to the front of the store front, Anna and Sergei walked away slowly so as not to bring any suspicion to them. Walking several blocks away the two returned to the small motel that they were staying in and entered their room.

"That went well" Anna remarked softly as she removed her coat.

"Yes I agree" said Sergei. "We've made contact and we have a location for the drop."

"I imagine our work here is done then" Anna replied.

"For now" said Sergei. "We'll need to wire home the information and await instruction. I imagine they'll want us to make the first drop to affirm to the rebels who were are and what we're here for. Don't want them getting spooked and going deeper underground than they already are."

"Makes sense" Anna said, now almost naked as she moved towards the bathroom.

"Clean up and get some sleep" Sergei said.

It had been months since the supplies dropoff that had followed as a result of that meeting and the mysterious weapons supplier continued feeding weapons and supplies to the rebels. It gradually became a source that the rebels had come to rely on and trust. It was good to have allies when the enemy was nearly omnipresent, especially as omnipresent as it was now.

With the GPR mapping of the underground tunnels in many northern towns long finished, Communist forces began their patrols to push the rebels out forcing the Resistance to move outside of civilization completely and into the cold, harsh wilderness. There was a sense of approaching victory in Venderwelle and with the Papal Crusade over, Yshurak could recommit the full brunt of its forces in exterminating the rebel insurgents. The strike against the Gritzmarov Airfield had been ordered weeks ago with one of the largest forces of People's Army troops used against the Resistance since it had begun. Nevertheless, the Dominion Demonspider was the ultimate equalizer and laid waste to as many soldiers and vehicles it could fire upon.

Furthermore, the aircraft and anti-aircraft batteries stationed at the airfield made it a hard nut to crack. The fighting was still ongoing despite that the rebels should have exhausted its munitions stores during the first two weeks of the assault. That was the first realization that someone or something was supplying the rebels. Gritzmarov had become a fortress that it should have never been, Demonspider or no. There were now even reports that units of mechanized armor that had never even been stationed at the airfield being deployed by the rebels, and worse of all, there was no sign of the supply line of where these new weapons were coming from—of course that last could be explained by the rebel propensity for underground tunnels.

Also, President Yugaf Lutenktzi had gradually faded from public appearances and the airwaves and rumors about his failing health and continued hospitalization were rampant. In his stead, the Minister of State, Magnus Berg, had been declaring all initiatives of the government in its activities. The rumor over that was that Berg was slowly seizing control of the government for himself....

The Kremlin, Russia....

The War in Cologne had taken much of Russia's attention, the civil unrest in Yshurak though it had never escaped Russia's mind had been sidelined for other, assumed greater problems. Alexei had, during what would later become his last years of reign, been a believer that the status quo had to be maintained when it came to Yshurak. After all, though the communists were not the ideal neighbors, they had never provoke the Empire nor had they every attempted to usurp it for their own political gains. However, Russia had been naive about the country of Yshurak and the nature of their communism. The reports that came back from the first expeditions into the country shed light on to the true nature of the conditions for the people. Though Alexei was not ready to tip the balance of power, he knew he could not stand by while the people of Yshurak suffered. That was why he had the Okhranka plant agents within the rebel camps, aiding them with necessary weapons, medicines, and food to keep them going for a while. Alexei believe he need time to truly assess the rebels and their intentions before he could act on their behalf in a more full-fledged manner. Sadly for the late Emperor, he would not see the fruits of his labors as he died due to the terrorist assassination during the Cologne War.

Now it was Ivan's turn to assess the nature of the civil unrest in Yshurak. The War in Cologne had forced Russia to recall most of its troops. Their aide to the Communist government now mostly came in the form of continued supplies and relief aide as well as their own intelligence and the GPR mapping. However, as the balance between the rebels and the Communist now seemed somewhat even, it seemed the tip between the two forces was soon to come. Ivan, unlike his father, was more ambitious and wasn't afraid to take chances if it meant that the Empire would greatly benefit from change. With the Cologne now but a memory and a new treaty ensuring that Russia alone would not have to bare defense against another Catholic invasion, it was time to get the rest of the Empire's business in order. The Demonspider weapon was a formidable and dangerous piece of technology. The Russians had tangle with such monstrosities before and though they'd been ultimately victorious the cost of victory had been great. Dismantling that awful weapon was a primary driving force for Ivan and his ministers, even the military was eager to see it gone off their doorstep. However, Ivan did not believe it could be done by force itself. Though it could be, again he knew the cost would be high and after such a disastrous war in Cologne, Russia could not afford it.

It was for the safety of the Empire that Ivan decided that he would not follow in his father's policies concerning Yshurak. The Communists were natural enemies of monarchies and sooner or later, he was more than convinced that they would turn on Russia in the end. Perhaps this was more paranoia on his part but nevertheless he fully believed that by liberating the Yshurak people from their communist oppressors would put Russia in better standings with the people. Though the rebels were Republicans by nature he was sure that open elections would attract monarchists in the country as well as perhaps in time Russia could use their won influence and proximity to the country to enact at, the very least, a constitutional monarchy in the country. Ivan's ministers and military advisers were not so certain of such conclusion. Many still felt that the course set out by the former Emperor on the subject was the best course. While some attempt to sway the new Emperor back it was becoming painfully obvious that this was impossible. However, what suppressed the oppositions from further action against the Emperor's motives was the possibility of his plan's success. Were the rebels to be victorious and such a victory came at the aid of the Empire, many now believe his majesty would have the clout to sue the rebels in dismantling the demonspider weapon. Such a victory would lift a heavy burden off the military who were particularly worried over the weapon's future. However, while his majesty was now resolved to such a plan, the execution was to come slowly as he did not wish for the Communists to suspect anything until it was too late.

Brigadier General Joonas Ruotsalainen glared at the menacing shape of the Demonspider through his binoculars as it strode back and forth across a frozen field of desolation. The relic of the Dominion War continued to lay waste to many of his advancing forces while newer armored units and weapons rolled out of the rebel-controlled airfield. If it wasn't for that accursed weapon, this siege would have been over just as soon as it had begun. Attempts to take it down had failed, as the flat, featureless terrain made it difficult for any small infantry teams to get in close and take it out with a well placed shot from a MANPAD.

And worst of all, the Russian detachment assisting the People's Army in this siege operation seemed to be half-assing at their jobs. He was about ready to exchange harsh words with their commanding officer and demand that he step up discipline within his forces. Oh, how he was starting to wish that he had command of the campaign to the west where the People's Army was successfully flushing out the rebels from the cities... he'd stop making himself bald then.

"Colonel," he called for his XO's attention, "the rebels are very clearly receiving support from an outside party. There's no other explanation for how they're able to get these new tanks, new missiles, and new guns in such quantity. It goes beyond the materials that they stole earlier in this conflict. I want intelligence contacted and requested to look into who could be sponsoring them, and we need to find their delivery point. Otherwise this siege will continue going nowhere."

"I'll be sure to send the memo out as soon as possible, sir," his XO replied. "I'm in full agreement with you that an investigation needs to be carried out."

Yshurak welcomes your assistance to our continued struggle to maintain order in the north. The rebels would have us regress to the exploitation of the capitalist model and that cannot be allowed. We invite you to discuss these matters further in Venderwelle.

The state of Russian involvement was indeed somewhat embarrassing. Though much of Russia's forces had been systematically withdraw over the course of time in order to send them to Cologne, Major-General Nikolai Tovarishch had remained. The supreme commander of Russian forces in Yshurak, he was orchestrating the entire Russian campaign. At present this meant only two things, continuing to have GPR mapping data sent to the Communist's central command, and aiding in the still failing siege of the airfield with Communist forces. With Russian aid, the rebels had indeed dug themselves in severely deep and with that ancient relic looming over the frozen waste, it didn't appear the Russian and Communists had a chance.

Begrudgingly, the Major-General was being kept in the dark over Russia's intentions in Yshurak. His superiors continued to stress to him the necessity of his success, but at the same time refused to send him reinforcements. Their reasons were not entirely unbelievable, the most common being that Russian forces were still needed in Cologne to maintain civil order until the government there regain full power. Still, the Major-General had his suspicions that these were just conveniences that Imperial Command were using. Still, despite logging his own carefully worded complaints over the issues, there was very little that he himself could do over the issue. Without the resources he felt he needed, it wouldn't surprise him that he and his forces looked as if they were doing an half-ass job. In many respects that was exactly the situation. However, coming to the very painful conclusion that there was little he could do for now he decided to change tactics.

At present the Russians had simply been throwing men into the fire, naturally only to watch them burn. Nothing was getting past that damned spider and if it did, it met the resistance with their tanks and guns. Overwhelming the enemy with numbers wasn't going to work and at best, they were simply holding out at present. Then the Major-General considered some sort of EMP blast, such as from an EMP tank. It was a weapon originally developed by the Muslims of Paradise but was a more widely used weapon among some military by the time of the Dominion. Given the mechanical nature of the Spider, perhaps such a blast could knock out the systems necessary to maintain movement in the monstrosity. However, he then wonder that perhaps it was shield from such a tactic, as would most likely be the case. Oh how he wished he was still just a manager of aid to the country, was a much more simpler assignment than the task ahead of him.

Valiko Kozintsev had never been to Europe, much less to a place so close to the homeland of his forefathers. Still, for him, Russia was as foreign as Yshurak and he did not associate himself with the Russian people or its culture. His flight from Transcaucasia was a long one as well as a quite one. He came aboard a private jet, courtesy of his family's wealth though he disdained the opulence of it. Still, with no passenger flights from Transcaucasia to Yshurak, it was the only way to make the trip. Arriving at the airport to little fan-fair, he was greet by a private car that took him from the airport to the headquarters of the communist party. His drive through the city took him past the ports, still very much damaged from the previous rebel attacks. Such a beautiful and industrial city he thought to himself. This is what the power of the people can build, this is what socialism affords us.

Finally reaching his destination he exited the vehicle only to be greeted by a Communist official who provided a warm welcome and a healthy handshake. "Thank you for your warm welcome comrade" Valiko said with a grin. "I am very honored to be so welcomed here though I wish my trip came under better circumstances for your people as well as my own...."

Valiko Kozintsev was taken inside the headquarters and quickly ushered to the office of the Party Chairman himself. Inside, Kaarle Markku was pouring himself a drink at the minibar and gestured for his guest to help himself, greeting him with a smile and handshake. Kaarle Markku was an older man, rotund and had a large shaggy, graying beard. In fact, one could almost call him the spitting image of the father of Communism himself—even the name was strangely similar....

"Welcome to Yshurak, Comrade," Kaarle said jovially. "We're pleased here that our brothers from across the world wish to help us with our struggle against the dangerous capitalists that plague our northern territories. Please be seated and be comfortable."

"Chairman Markku, we communist in Transcaucasia look to Yshurak with admiration" Valiko Kozintsev stated after taking his seat. "Your nation is the world's greatest symbol of the socialist ideal. That is why, when this war began, we were outraged that bourgeois terrorists would attempt a coup here. We had hoped, once winning elections at home, we would have more to offer when I came here. However, we were deceived into believing that the elections were both free as well as fair. However, despite this setback in our own revolution, we still remain devoted to helping your people."

"We do not have many men or women to spare in outright fighting" Valiko said as he continued, "however, as many in our ranks are former guerrilla fighters themselves, we believe we do offer an advantage to your cause. What we would like to propose is that you allow us to infiltrate the enemy ranks. We are unknowns for the most part and we believe we can approach them with aide and that they will let us in their ranks. once this is done we can begin relaying information to your forces so as to better help your cause."

_______________________________________________-

With the war still at a stalemate-like situation, Moscow was beginning to worry that the Communists were getting suspicious. The Emperor's advisers were worried that the smuggling operation would soon be discovered and that, given it was being conducted over Russia's own border with the country, that Yshurak would get suspicious over the Empire's true intentions. Cautious of this, Ivan's military advisers decided it was time to show the Communists that they were still in the fight for them, or at least make it appear this way. Currently, weapons and supplies were being smuggled over the border by a small-time gang within the Russian mafia world that was looking to make a quick ruble. Agents with the KSB had infiltrated the gang and had convinced them of the deal. The gang believed the Yshurak rebels were paying them for the weapons when it fact it was the Russian government. The rebels in turn were left believing it was a Russian gang offering them the assistance they were receiving. While the Empire believed it was covering its tracks well, it still felt that it had to show the Communists a favor.

So it was decided that the next convoy would get hit by Russian forces in Yshurak. Information would be passed on to Major-General Tovarishch and he would be ordered to hit the convoy. Naturally, the Russians would then let the Communist in on what they "know" and agree to investigate the matter more in-depth. It was hopeful that the Communist would be pacified for the moment and Russia would save face for the time being until piece could be put in place to have this revolution brought to an end in favor of the more moderate rebels.

"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

While the Republic had remained quiet and impartial during the entirety of the rebellion in the Communist Republic thus far, there were beginning to be rumblings for a change in policy throughout Ariminae. Business interests had finally come to realize just how revolutionary a change in regime would be in Yshurak and had begun to push - heavily. Meanwhile, Atratinus, despite his waning influence immediately preceding upcoming elections, saw another opportunity to alter the power balance in Europe and to exert greater pressure on the Russians. Had Moscow not officially come to the aid of the communists in Venderwelle? Would another democratic republic not change the algorithms of the Emperor and his court?

Progress within Parliament was at a level just above paralyzing; still, Atratinus was able to allocate a sizable fund to SSR for start-up operations. Within a week, a small group of operatives set out directly east from Narvik and crossed into north-west Yshurak without trouble. Among the group of four was a Yshurakan national who also spoke the local, if heavily suppressed, dialect of the Yshurakan territories of northern Sweden. She was the Porcuians primary mode of communication.

Various messages and telegrams had been sent the way of the rebels and it was now necessary to see if any of them had stuck. It would also be seen if the rebellion could be saved.

"Indeed, infiltration of their ranks would be most desirable," Kaarle Markku said with an impish smile, taking his own seat across from Valiko and leaning back. "We've attempted it ourselves with marginal success, but they seem to have methods to detect and recognize government spies, usually involving the intricacies of their northern 'problems.' But you are foreigners, they may be more trusting of you as we've seen evidence of foreign aid to their cause. I will have to discuss the matter with the President to get actual approval to go ahead with your proposal, but I see no reason why he would refuse. After all, the more tricks up our sleeves, the better, right comrade?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
General Ruotsalainen looked at the present battlefield with disgust. While intelligence reported to him that the Russians had finally hit a rebel convoy to the east, he was still seeing lackluster support from his ostensible allies here at Gritzmarov. He was seriously having doubts about their commander's competency. While the airfield had managed to sustain some damage from the joint task force's bombs, the rebels still remained in control of it, and the Demonspider remained the prime reason for that.
He'd decided he'd seen enough Yshurakan men and women die and ordered a full retreat from the base. He'd need to contact the Supreme Command of the Peoples' Armed Forces to suggest that another tactic be tried—a full scale ground invasion wasn't working. The Demonspider was too formidable a weapon for such a thing; it had been hard enough to fight the Dominion years ago when it had had hundreds of the damned things. Drastic measures were needed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A reply had meandered its way back to Porcu's leaders through their team of contacts, scribbled on construction paper in crayon. It said: "We're clapping it that the smashy-smash you're offering will help us catch the honey. Ring-a-ding the number below and we'll jibber about a mish-mash with the top-hat."

As described, there was a phone number just beneath the oddly-phrased message.

"But of course comrade, but of course" Valiko stated with his own smile. "I have a few men who I believe your President would find most agreeable for this operation, should he of course agree. They are among the best and most trust of my own inner circle. Best of all, of course, is that they are virtual unknowns, as they've mostly worked behind the cameras for our cause back home. I can have them here by tomorrow should the President agree. I imagine they could intelligence for you by the end of the week."

Despite the dangers of staying, both Anna and Sergei had been ordered by Moscow to remain after they'd created the initial deal with the rebels. Since that time they'd organized every shipment that came into the country, including the most recent and ill-fated convoy that was hit by Russian forces not an hour after coming over the border. A shame really as it was, like all the others, a much need convoy. Still, until now the two agents had delivered on their promise and perhaps without their help, the rebels wouldn't still be in the good position they were. Perhaps the only problem was, of course, the fact that the rebels were more or less still in the same position. They'd yet to break the backs of their attacks at the airfield nor advance beyond their northern territories. Moscow was now worried over the course of the war.

"They're worried this rebellion may be stalled" Sergei stated plainly to Anna as the two walked down the street towards the meeting spot. "That's why we've been order to get their leaders in motion."

"What clout do we have with their leadership" Anna stated, hugging a bit on his arm as a brisk wind went by.

"Well don't forget, we are bring in the bread and butter" Sergei said. "If they've got no immediate plans, we could bluff with taking that away. After all, investments are what they are and without results...."

"I imagine that could work, then again they could call our bluff."

"Yes they could, but then again we could really stop bringing in the goods. After all, I've heard the world's changing quickly and we may be needed else where. They may decide to let the Communists to have this country after all, I mean they've not been bad neighbors."

"But they're communists" Anna said, the words sour in her mouth."

Sergei just shrugged as they rounded the corner, they were close to the small shop.....

In the shadows, a man in a long coat and fur hat caught brief phrases of the pair's conversation and began to follow them.

Later, inside the shop, there was predictably another line of people waiting to purchase goods in the tradition of communist regulated shops. Once the two agents reached the counter, the sales clerk took their Yshes and gave them another ticket to "claim their furniture" from the back. The man that followed them was only five people behind them in line. He would later follow them outside, maintaining his distance and remaining inconspicuous.

Valiko, in the apartment that Kaarle Markku had provided him while he stayed in Venderwelle, received a phonecall from a Party secretary informing him that the President of Yshurak had reviewed his proposal and accepted it. He was instructed to send word back to his people in Transcaucasia and begin preparations for the tasks ahead.

Like so many times before Sergei and Anna took their slip and proceeded towards the back of the store. Once they got to the door near the back Anna looked back but saw nothing as Sergei gave a gentlemen tap at the door. The eye hole of the door slid open and Sergei flashed up the slip he was given to allow the two in. The Door opened and the two were given their usual 'warm' welcome.

"Comrades" Sergei stated jokingly, he'd groan comfortable enough to joke with the group though in truth, his jokes were horrid and borderline offensive. "Business is going well I take it? I have seen where our packages have gone a long way day in and day out."

"Yeah and what about that part where you said they'd make it into the country everytime?" a member of the group spoke up and asked.

"A minor setback that's all my friends." Sergei stated with a smile, his used car salesman act never got old to him. "Don't worry, all will be fine. Now, while I do love speaking with all of you I was hoping to see the boss...."

The Communist in Transcaucasia were eager to get to Yshurak. They'd packed their plane, made all the necessary preparations and were ready at the small airport to make their trip. That was, until one of their member passed out before the aircraft took flight. The unfortunate truth was that there was a disease ravaging the region and several members of the groups were its latest victims. To make matters worse, Valiko and the party was hearing whispers that a lock-down and possible play for power was likely in an attempt to curtail the outbreak from getting worse. While he indeed felt obligated to keep his arrangements made in Yshurak, the escalating situation at home forced him to recline his offer.

To our esteemed Comrades in Yshurak, we apologize for our absence. It seems the situation here at home has deteriorated and the threat a plot to completely wipe out our cause here at home in high. While I am not the kind of man to make promises and then break them easily, I cannot in good conscious send some of my best agents to Yshurak as planned while a fight at home is very likely. Should this threat subside, I would like to assure your party and your nation that we will send aid as agreed unless the necessity of such has passed. Until then we will continue to support the cause internationally in hopes that a global revolution may one day be realized.

Kaarle Markku frowned as he read over the message. Murphy had apparently struck at a most inopportune time; they had the rebels nearly on the ropes now but there reports of a new super weapon that they had acquired. The Communist Republic needed to end them before they used it, quickly and soundly, and they could have used the Georgian communists' help in doing it. Nevertheless, he had to accept this unfortunate turn of events and report. Something had to turn for the better soon, though.

"I suppose the time for you to meet the Top Tophat is fast approaching," the cell leader replied with a smirk. "It won't be easy as it used to be, though, as we've been having to abandon a lot of our safe houses lately with the commies mapping everything. The only front we seem to be hanging onto so far is the airfield east of here and the reason for that is pretty damn obvious. Lucky we found that hunk of junk when we did, it really helped out." He sighed.

"But yeah, I think we can try to get you connected. Eetu, be kind if you would and write down for our friends the contact info for our liaison with the leaders of our revolution. It—"

He wasn't allowed to finish that statement when an uproar of commotion erupted from the front of the shop. One of the clerks managed to hastily retreat to the back of the build to join their meeting while shouts and gunfire echoed behind him.

"We've been found out!" he declared. "The blueberries are here."

The cell leader's eyes widened with horror and he looked to Anna and Sergei. "Were you followed?"

They weren't allowed time to answer as something banged against the back door, attempting to batter it open. Muffled orders to "open up in the name of the Republic" followed. In quick response, various trunks were opened up around the storage room where various small arms and light weapons were concealed and the cell members armed themselves in preparation of the raid. Chances are that they were probably severely outnumbered, however.

"Shit, shit, shit!" cried the cell leader. "Eetu, get these two out of here before we're all taken."

Eetu nodded and led the way down a hall to a seemingly dead end. Suddenly, he kicked the floor and a trapdoor to the underground opened wide for them. He turned to Anna and Sergei at that moment when the gunfire and shouts grew louder, resting his AK-47 over his shoulder.

"Okay, keep close and follow me," he said quietly. "Do not wander off. The blueberries have been mapping and patrolling the underground ever since they discovered it. There's only a few passages that remain relatively safe at certain intervals and others that are still unknown to them." With that, he slung the rifle over his back and climbed down the ladder, fully expecting Anna and Sergei to follow.

"Its highly doubtful, we've been careful to watch over our shoul...." Sergei was interrupted by the commotion of the room. Shortly afterwards he and Anna were hastily show towards the trap door and after their lead went down the ladder, Sergei had Anna follow and he pulled up the rear. As he closed the door behind him he was sure he heard the first shots of the engagement ring out. Several feet later he was on the dusty bottom of the ladder and in perpetual darkness. It was broken by the dim light of an old flashlight.

"We only keep one down here" Eetu stated "and we'll only use it when we need to"

Their freedom fighter escort began leading them away from the ladder. Sergei tapped Anna on the should before touching her waist, a signal for her to ready her concealed weapon. Though not as powerful as an AK-47, their small pistols would given them a few good shots if they needed them, hopefully enough to give them a chance to escape.

"We were so careful" Anna whispered to Sergei, "I cannot imagine we were followed."

"Its certainly possible" Eetu interrupted. "The blueberries have really been putting the hammer down and swinging their sickle at ever opportunity."

"I hadn't realized it had gotten as bad as it has" Sergei stated. "I can assure you our financiers certainly don't wish to see this fight for freedom end. We must see the boss or I fear there may not be a rebellion left."

"Yeah well lets get out of here first" Eetu stated before giving a clear "shush." They were entering into a more dangerous part of the tunnel network now, no telling what was waiting for them around the next corner."
