Used to - both on their website and using the *ahem* other option.

Don't play magic anymore. Haven't since 9th. Took a look at some of the cards being used nowdays... and the power creep is utterly heinous.

They're currently in the process of reworking Magic to counter just that, after the power-house Alara block.

But I rather like the new, more technical powers cards can have, than the old days were the majority of the cards were very vanilla. I started up in Invasion. Favorite set was Mirrodin and I'm pumped its going to go back in October.

Yeah... I learned to play back in 5th edition. The "more technical powers" are what's killed the game for me. The Urza Block added interesting things to vanilla cards. Mercadian Masques added interesting things to vanilla cards.

Invasion was the beginning of the end for the game. Judgement was the end of the game "go grab a card that's not in your deck!". The Onslaught block started CPR... then Mirrodin came along (Mirrodin was very much a mixed bag IMO, on the one hand there were some great cards and cool combos, on the other Platinum Angel). I gave up all hope and called it when the Kamigawa Block hit (a legendary card in every booster!) and haven't played since. Whatever the hell stupid block Planeswalkers came in was taking a dump on the game's coffin. The gorram players are supposed to be Planeswalkers! Not the freaking cards!

If I wanted to play a game based on insane combos, power creep and having an essay printed on each card, I'd play Yu-gi-oh or Jyhad. For me, Magic will always be "that game we played while the DM was setting up". It very quickly became messed up when Yawgmoth messed up Dominaria. Mechanics like "indestructible" and cards with "you win the game" printed on them are not fun.

Stronghold was my favourite set, then Nemesis.

Some of my friends collect and play Magic, so if I'm hanging out with people, I'll play a few games but I don't really follow the game. Also, I play the role of the curmedgeon and hate everything that has changed since I learned the game as a kid - like probably anything that came after Ice Age.

Yeah, part of my above speech is being grumpy for the sake of it. I do appreciate the dynamic of a changing game. The problem is that you can only change a game upwards (power creep), downwards (which works in a limited environment but isn't fun) or sideways (which leads to the overly complicated mess we have now).

Wizards are a horrible, horrible company determined to ruin all of their games.

In my case, I'm just not interested in learning new rules like I was when I was younger. I want to just sit down, have a few drinks, and play something, without having to worry about every new special ability someone could cook up.

Regarding the original question posed by this thread, I do not play Magic Online.

However, I did erase a bunch of foreign cards and write the names of the cards I'm too cheap to buy on them, and as a result have a badass Landfall themed green and blue deck. Fear my Avenger of Zendikar and my lawn of growing 0/1 plants!!
