Hey, regarding Dan Brown: yes, I know he is a hack, as is Steven King, as is that Harry Potter chick, but all three of them write very fun light reads, you know, real page turners. This is not a bad thing. I know people that hadn't picked up a book outside of school, ever, in their lives that plowed through Dan Brown's book, so anything that gets people reading is a good thing, IMHO.

The Harry Potter chick got literally millions of young people off of video games, and got them reading. This is noble. Same with Steven King. So don't knock these folks; if they get people to begin the habit of reading, then great!
:P

I'd much rather write like William Shakespeare or James Fenimore Cooper.

Then by all means, do so!

I wouldn't. Flowery, metaphorical language is totally unnecessary in a game like this. Considering the nature of our RPs and posts, we should write more like Dan Brown, if anything.

I put in my whole Seventh Khan RP and got James Joyce. I can actually agree with that sentiment, and can see how that comparison would be made. I suppose I speak from a position of someone who is not Dan Brown, of course. Ah, well.

Also, after inputting a fairly large portion of a novella I'm writing, my results came out as Kurt Vonnegut.

After putting in my academic papers and my book I got H.P. Lovecraft.

Maybe I should check in with my T.A.'s and see if any have been admitted to insane asylums recently.

I hadn't thought of that. I just put my seminar paper on the 9th Amendment into that, and I got Lovecraft too. It might be something to do with academic writing.

I got a lot of Dan Browns and JK Rowlings. I put some academic papers in and got mostly David Foster Wallace, who I'm ambivalent about. I would like to get William Shakespeare, as passages written by 2 authors I respect (George RR Martin and Walter M. Miller) get William Shakespeare.

I disagree with you not on specifics but on principle, Harumf. I really do think that it is better not to be reading than to read Stephanie Meyer and think that that is what literature ought to be. There is no more intellectual value to certain authors than there is to pornography.

I imported more of my novel (18,500 words so far) and still got William Gibson. Imported the last scene I wrote and got P. G. Wodehouse, whoever that is.

Entered various RPs and got Mario Puzo and Dan Brown. I think my writing is very schizophrenic.

Hey! I like porno. And there is serious art in porn, like the movie "Shortbus"!
