Imputing this post gave me David Foster Wallace, imputing this post gave me William Shakespeare, while imputing the last part of this post gave me Dan Brown.

My last post Seventh Khan RP is in the style of Chuck Paluhniuk.

My usual style, the all-dialogue RPs, is in the style of Johathan Swift.

Considering that inputting successive paragraphs from the same short story into this thing gave me first Margaret Atwood, then Charles Dickens, then Stephen King, and finally James Joyce, and inputting the whole thing gave me Dan Brown, I feel like I should run away from this little program in terror.

That's a kick in the nuts.

I put in the first paragraphs of my "Midnight Sun" RP into that link Scy gave us and got Dan Brown. :(

But then I added a couple more paragraphs of it and got Kurt Vonnegut. Makes me feel better.

Then I added the whole RP and got David Foster Wallace.

Margaret Mitchell
Cory Doctorow
Cory Doctorow
Neil Gaiman
James Joyce

When posted all together, I got:

Cory Doctorow

Who knew?

The Godfather films are the rarest of the rare: movies that are incomparably better than the books they are based on.

I posted what I've done on my novel so far and got William Gibson.

The only thing I've read of his is Neuromancer. It's a decent book, but a little hard to follow, although I lol'd at the space rastas. :P

That's all very interesting. So it would seem that the more writing you enter, the more accurate the analysis is. If anyone's curious what I used to get Arthur C. Clarke, it was a chapter from the novel I'm writing.

I feel more like statistical word analysis is an invalid way to determine what sort of literary voice a person has.

You're just upset that the full sampling of your story gave you Dan Brown.

Yes, that's of course it, Scy. Right. I'm just so upset, and I'm upset that it said another short story was supposedly written in the style of Vladimer Nabokov. Right.

Edit: I just put half an essay by Gore Vidal in and it said it resembled Dan Brown. lolwut

Dan Brown
Stephen King
Cory Doctorow

 This one made me sad. From my very first RP, I got James Fenimore Cooper.

Well, I put in the first chapter of Huckleberry Finn and it said it was like . . . . . . . Mark Twain!

That's good enough for me.

I might have to write out something a little more substantial for this widget to work its magic on. I can't say I've ever read Mario Puzo, so I suppose it's possible his writing resembles mine. Who knows.

I posted my "Illyrian Movement" story. Dan Brown.

I posted my "Finale: Passover" from War of Succession Redux. Dan Brown.

This is just cold. I might have to give up writing completely.

My condolences. At the very least, you can always be more researched than the real Dan Brown.

The first IC post I made in Telo's Annessione di Francia thread is supposedly written like Raymond Chandler. The second post is supposedly written like David Foster Wallace. The third post (which I consider the best I've written on this forum) is supposedly written like Oscar Wilde. My fifth post is written like Dan Brown (and is ironically my least-favourite post), and my sixth post is also written like Oscar Wilde. Finally, my seventh post is written like Vladimir Nabokov.

So I range from the genius of Oscar Wilde to the mediocrity of Dan Brown. Sounds about... right?

Hey, regarding Dan Brown: yes, I know he is a hack, as is Steven King, as is that Harry Potter chick, but all three of them write very fun light reads, you know, real page turners. This is not a bad thing. I know people that hadn't picked up a book outside of school, ever, in their lives that plowed through Dan Brown's book, so anything that gets people reading is a good thing, IMHO.

The Harry Potter chick got literally millions of young people off of video games, and got them reading. This is noble. Same with Steven King. So don't knock these folks; if they get people to begin the habit of reading, then great!
