Nah, I'll just freeze all your assets and force your country into bankruptcy. I do own the Swiss bank. |

You've gotta torture me, don't you Porcu? First the Middle East qualifiers, then the African qualifiers... get to a continent my countries are in already! Edited by Telosan, Jul 17 2010, 01:29 AM.

Looks like Kandy will be playing the role of North Korea in our World Cup... maybe they'll do better than NK did. :P |

Out of curiosity, Porcu, what did you use to decide the groupings for the qualifications? |

I just assigned a number to each team and then used a number generator to spit out a set of numbers depending on how large I wanted the group to be. Repeats were discarded and I kept going until each group, one by one, was filled. |

Btw, why is Venice playing in the qualifiers? Aren't they hosting the cup? Oh, and can you slow down the rate you're putting out the games, Porcu? I won't be able to be an active host if I'm not home by the time the world cup starts. |

Besides for needing Venice to help even out the different groups, I included Venice in the qualification process because South Africa (this year's World Cup Host) participated in the African qualification process. I completely understand what you're trying to get at though, and depending on what others think we can certainly have the qualifications set up so that the host nation does not participate. As for the games, I'm pumping them out just to get them done and over with. I was intending on waiting for you to be fully prepared in any case. I've begun taking a few summer classes, so the pace is going to decrease anyway, but I can certainly slow down the pace even further if you like. |

Alright. Qualifications are finally over with and I can relax a bit before Telo returns and we start the World Cup. |

Got the World Cup started here. Lans, did you want to create a whole new, separate thread for that sports broadcasting idea you mentioned earlier? If the coverage would be specific to the World Cup, we might as well just post in that thread, but if the coverage would be general, commenting on most tournaments, then I can (or you can) go ahead and create that separate thread. |

We could do it for the World Cup in the thread itself. For later stuff, we could create a separate thread. |

My guy will be Robert Lawrence in terms of sports analysis. I'm guessing you'll RP one of your own, Porcu. Telo, you should RP one since the tournament's in your country, but do we need anyone else? |

How exactly did you want to go about it? I'll be posting the match results as it is, but would you want me to give you short summaries of the games so your guy can comment on them IC-wise, possibly through PMs? Did you want to collaborate together for a single sports analysis post? |

Well, I'm thinking of a pre-Cup analysis show, each analyst picking who they think will advance out of the groups, and how they think the Cup will play out. Then maybe a re-cap after the group stages, and then after each round. Too convoluted? |

Not for me. Let's wait to see if anyone else wants to join in. I'll PM you (and anyone else) to finalize details when we're ready to go. Telo still needs to officially open the tournament, but there's no hurry on that. Edited by Porcu, Sep 2 2010, 09:50 PM.

In posting the match results, I will be providing the scores for an entire group at a time, but I wanted to ask people if there was a preference for how many groups would play on a match day. Does anyone have a preference for the number of groups I provide match results for? 2 groups? 4? All 8? Also, I've completed the world cup bracket. It's a blank you can use to fill out either for fun or for the purpose of providing an IC prediction by a journalist or sports commentator. Use it as you wish. |

I don't know. I would guess that Telo would include that as part of his opening post. Btw, here's my guess bracket. |

Lans, you want to go ahead and post that pre-Cup analysis show? I can take the small recaps after the first round games and you can do the analysis and predictions after the teams advance out of the group stage if you want. Btw, let's go with 4 large stadiums in play. That will allow me to post match results for two groups at a time and get started on this very soon - in the next couple of days probably (by the weekend most certainly). |

How'd you post your picks on the bracket? I could use that for the pre-show thing and my picks. |
