Well, your opinion is registered as long as you don't attempt to "discourage open discussion." As for the issue of rushing from my perspective it's a contingency that adds a layer of strategic depth to the game by establishing early-game, mid-game, and end-game strategies. And the pace of gameplay obviously defines the game, which can't be changed, so it won't be a fit for everyone.
See, to me rushing adds a layer of silliness to an RTS game. That said, I suppose any game that has base and unit building is going to have that problem. Well, except maybe for Sins of a Solar Empire, given the large scale. Rushing is possible on a small map, but it's not really possible on the large ones. Yet the game still gets too easy, at least against the AI. Haven't been able to play it against people much.
Blitzkrieg is silly?
Rushing on a base building RTS is not blitzkrieg.

For a game to have true blitzkrieg, all the infrastructure would already have to be there. It's not as if the Germans attacked Poland with a force built in five minutes when Poland hadn't built much force. No. The Germans had had a military buildup for years, and the Polish had their military infrastructure in place. It just happens that lancers aren't very effective against tanks. Silly Polish.

In the case of the French, well honestly... the Germans got lucky on that one. France was in every way more powerful than them. I shouldn't have to go into detail with that.

Lightening Strike is simply striking before your enemy is able to muster a defence.

Every real life engagement I can think of, started small. World War 2 was not an exercise in building factories until we could chuck nukes at each other - it started with Germany marching infantry into the Rhineland. Weapons development (V missiles, A-bomb, improved firearms etc) took place while fighting. Not during the "five minutes, no rush" that Churchill agreed with Hitler.

Wars are fought in continuous combat, not "gimme ten minutes to build a base before you come attack". The break down to early, mid and late game present in many an RTS is a good thing. Making early units obsolete before you get the chance to use them is dumb: this necessitates some form of early combat.

In skirmish scenarios, we're not talking about attacking an established location but trying to ascertain dominance over an area. In such cases, rushing is infinitely less silly than base building. I can't think of any RTS game that doesn't (at some point) give you an establish based to start off with (in campaign mode) or pit you against such a base - and such bases can't be beaten with a simple rush.

Rushes are more like commando actions. Nobody can force you to like rushes Sed, but imo it's silly *not* to have rushes in a base builder RTS. It's all a matter of personal preference, I don't believe anyone's opinion will be changed.

Just beat the campaign. Not to give any spoilers, but did anyone else who finished it feel like the ending left quite a bit to be desired, that the closing cutscene went too fast?

As the first act of a three act campaign it's supposed to leave something to be desired, isn't it?

Yeah, but if you've played through the campaign, it seems like the resolution of at least some of the issues just went by a little fast.

As a whole, I liked it and am eager to play the next chapter, but the last cutscene was just strange and short.
SPOILER ALERT

Anyone interested in playing an NSWR game of SC2 sometime?

For those of you who are superstitious, never fear. There is nothing to be worried about. The sacred rites of thread necromancy were observed. A small ewe was sacrificed, and I drew lewd pictures in its blood in strict observation of the sacred, and ancient, rites of the forum.

If my campus internet didn't suck I'd offer to do some multi-player

Granted, our internet's fine, they just have gaming throttled to hell

Finally bought HotS with some trade-in credit from Gamestop. Figured I'd res this thread. Now, I bought a physical copy because I have satellite internet where I live now, and I have a 10 GB data limit per month. I have an unlimited time period between midnight and 5 am, but I bought a hard copy for the convenience of just installing the game, or so I thought. It turns out, even if you buy the hard copy, you still have to download about 8 GB worth of files to make it work. Keep in mind, this is an expansion pack to Wings of Liberty. Needless to say, I am not amused.

This will be the last Blizzard game I buy at least until I move back into an urban area, where uncapped broadband is available, and maybe the last one ever with the exception of Legacy of the Void. Just as well, since Blizzard is turning into EA Lite with all of this DRM bullshit.

EDIT:

I bought HotS, but I've only had time to play a couple of the single-player missions.
