Jtoriauno, or have the slightest idea how to pronounce it? In my class starting tonight I have a Jtoriauno Kline, and I like to pride myself on being to pronounce all student's names on the first day. |

Is he African-American? That looks like one of the better completely random African-American names. A legit etymology might even be fabricated for it. My guess would be juh-torr-ee-AH-no |

Definitely a black name. If it's a dude, I'd say it's: JEW-tar-RE-no First syllable accentuated. "Tar" like on the road. Reno like the place. If it's a girl then the "Jt" is probably silent. Or-ee-ar-no ... I've got to learn the phonetic alphabet. Or... maybe the "Jt" is accentuated... JAY-tori-auno. |

Do you know where he's from? (Ancestrally/culturally speaking?) I think TC is right about it having a legit etymology. But I've got no idea what that might be with just "black" to go on. Google not being very helpful today. I'd stick with my first answer, though TC's guess is as good as mine. |

CLEVELAND ROCKS!

That's what my guess would be... FWIW, I found someone who used to be friends with a kid of the same name on facebook, I clicked on one of that person's friends (this person went by "JT".. Could possibly be a shorted version, but differently last name... But had 3 siblings with J names, and from Detroit...) and saw that they were friends with a Victoria Kline, and a Tori Kline. That would support TC's pronunciation a bit. Also, I feel creepy as hell. Edited by flumes, Jun 14 2010, 03:30 PM.

Yes, I believe that's considered dangerously close to stalking. |

Considered by whom? Seriously, that's pretty normal facebook behavior. You could argue that basically just stalker.net, I suppose, and that's not a bad argument, but I think its already lost in the court of society. |

I think it's derived from an ancient, obscure Etrusco-Roman cognomen. Like IETORIANVS or something. |

One name that has emanated from the annals of Afro-American nomenclature creativity and which is a legitimate English name that should be more widely used imo is "Taurian". |

Or you could just rechristen him with an eminently pronounceable name. I'd suggest something like Ted. Override his objections and pretend it's his name for the whole of the semester. Bonus points if you can get him to legally change his name to the one you've chosen for him by the final. |

I believe in Harumf. If he sat young Ted down and gave him the "Son, your name sounds like something an illiterate chimpanzee in the throes of a grand mal seizure would come up with. Let me help you get your life turned around" lecture, this black male would undoubtedly put some deep thought into a name change. |

Ah, I see. Using an even craftier plan then. Disappearing him before he can make a fool of your in front of the class and compromise your reputation for impeccable name pronunciation. We'll see if he shows up Wednesday indeed.. |
