Telo is from NJ and we always got out of school in mid to late June. No change. Probably more of a regional thing. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Jun 4 2010, 09:29 PM.

To err is Human, to forgive is Divine. Really I can relate. My father was diagnosed with Asbestos cancer when I was three months old, we had to stay under the poverty line to get him medical care. He died when I was eight, and my mother, with what little life insurance money she got, she invested in real estate. We didn't spend money on new clothes, cars or good dental care. I grew up in an area that had a large portion of black people, I went to school with a large group of black kids. They where merciless, I was picked on every day for having old cloths, old shoes, old school supplies, most of this happened in elementary school but it continued into middle school. (Even though many of their families where on welfare, they picked on me. Oh yeah and the white kids did it plenty too. And being a scrawny little kind until I hit puberty didn't help) You know how I won in the end? I didn't let them know they bugged me was perhaps the biggest thing. I also showed them I forgave them, although I made sure they knew what they said to me (Yeah I rubbed their faces in it), I think the Psychology behind that is that they realized I was a better being(I was not only one of the biggest, but also one of the smartest in my school), and they wanted to be around me, but not if I was bitter. High School friendships are sad (Ones made before and after are truer friendships), most of them are based on bribery. Teens want to be around some one who will give them something (Money, food, status, rides, etc). The best way to make real friends is to join some group or sport. |

I just put myself through the hoops of high school and recovered my self-esteem in college ^^ I also went out of my way to find like-minded people who were not from my school, but within a reasonable distance. I deal with the day-to-day stuff, but afterward I go to the people I can count on. At first this came from the internet, but that soon turned to people in other schools who I found I could get along with. It was like a fresh start. |

At the very least, cash is cash. Furthermore, passing around copies of your notes can't get you in trouble. At least I don't think it can. |

I'll be a junior next year. T.T Not only will I have the most demanding courseload I've ever had (Calculus AP. Help. Dx), but I'm dead if I don't get all A's. According to my parents, I'm "advanced" enough to do it. I think I need to learn how to study. On the bright side, it will look good for college. And I'll get to rub in all of the seniors' faces the fact that I'm so much younger than them (I'm younger than most kids in my grade anyway) and getting A's. Not looking forward to the college search because my parents are going to be crazy, but I can't wait for the freedom when I finally get there. |

Congrats, Tou! My next year should be interesting. I finally managed to get into all honors classes, after having to climb the stupid difficulty scale. My school doesn't let us go from a normal class to honors. I have to go to a college prep class first. There are no freshmen honor classes. Sophmore is the lowest grade for honors classes and I only managed to get half my classes past the required grade level after missing the last month of school last year. I'm taking all the usual classes, but I finally got into TV production! I needed an art credit, but I'm the least artistic person in this hemisphere, so something tech-related should allow me to pass with a decent grade. |

That's not available. There's not broad art class; every option is specialized in some way. Tech Draw, Background & Scenery, Cartoon, Sketching, etc. Of those, tech draw would be the easiest for me since it's on the computer, but my friend said it was one of the most difficult classes he took. I signed up for Photography, but, as you can imagine, so did 80% of the rest of the school looking for art credits. They didn't have any space left for me. TV Production should be easy and fun. It's usually something that the freshmen pick up and I've already figured out that most of the class will be freshmen, with a few sophmores, and one other junior besides me. From what I've been able to figure out, I'm the only one who's already taken a tech class, so I should be able to spend the entire year sitting at the camera control board thingy. I can't act to save my life, which is especially bad considering all projects done in TV production are broadcast on the television during lunch all day. |

We are all so proud of our little college alcoholic! Seriously, freshman year is always the most difficult - now, 3.8 or bust! |

Is a 29 on the ACT good? It says I'm in the 91% percentile in California. |
