Shogun is coming back. Looks like it could be cool. I never played the first one, though. |

Looks kinda cool. All the same, I wish they would do a game set in the Persian empire, or something along those lines. |

Loved that game when I was younger. I'll probably have to pick it up for old times' sake. |

Agreed. Alexander was not nearly enough. Hel maybe set one in the wider middle east and have it span from either the Arab conquests, Umayyads, or Abbasids through the Crusades and the Mongols and Turks (And Seljuks!) to sometime either with the rise of gunpowder empires such as the Ottomans and the Safavids, or until the beginning of their decline. I imagine the map would go from North Africa, and Southern Europe to possibly either the Indian Subcontinent or out to Java to reflect the bredth and reach of Islam at its height... or perhaps if it starts early enough Zoroastrianism/Coptic Christianity/Orthodoxy (RD/Sed could live their dreams of Byantine dominance). But if the time period is that long it may have to take a page from the book of Europe Universalis and make the time period selectable. Thats sort of my dream Total War I guess... |

Yeah, there would probably have to be a more selectable period. I haven't played the game you referenced, but it sounds episodic? I would imagine it would be set up like the Medieval 2 expansion a while ago, with various mini-campaigns instead of the overarching one. Also I want to be able to carve out my own region and give it its own borders. Gimme a river, a forest, and a mountain, and I'll give you an unstoppable empire. |

Medieval 1 had three different time period start dates. They could do that again. |

Medieval II had a mod called Fertile Crescent that took place in the Middle East. |

Yes, Broken Crescent. Very fun. Shogun 2 looks great. The series is finally returning to its roots. Shogun more or less looked like Medieval graphics wise, but there were several elements that made it quite different, elements that it is obvious Creative Assembly is bringing back into Shogun 2. That said, Lans, how are you always the first to find out about these things? I think you were the first to inform me about Napoleon, maybe even Empire. |

I don't know if I'd say Shogun "looked like Medieval graphics-wise". The individual units in Shogun were a loose sprinkling of twelve to fifteen pixels. It was a good looking game, but it was a good looking game for ten years ago. Graphics have come a long, long way in ten years. |

Well, Shogun and Medieval used the same engine; that is probably what he means. Of course, Medieval made improvements and developments. |
