For the record, our river is clean!!
And Cleveland is turning around... I'd put money on it. Mark it down. It's a done deal. It'll start to pick up steam after Lebron wins our first championship since 1964, and then resigns with the Cavs... Then a mass migration of young people (it's amazing how many kids from both high school and college I've met who grew up just outside Cleveland like me share my dream) will move to downtown Cleveland after graduating college... Bars are within walking distance, very good mass-transit compared to a lot of US cities, CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP downtown apartments and condos that are extremely nice (refurbished in the old warehouses) right downtown, walking distance to 3 major sports teams, best continuous theater district outside of Broadway, a couple of other great collections at multiple museums financed from all the old money... Plus Cleveland is becoming the center of the US medical industry as every day goes by... And that is probably the biggest growth industry there is heading into the next decade... As the baby-boomers start having health problems, the jobs are going to flow into this sector, which means (finally) flowing back to Cleveland... The amount of developers trying to start housing in downtown Cleveland these last five years is a testament to my rant... Unfortunately, the economy delayed a lot of these, although these past couple of weeks one project got the go-ahead, and I'm hearing good things about another major one...
Okay... [/rant] :)
This rant is rendered null by the fact that the Cleveland River set on fucking fire. I don't care if the river is clean now; seriously, what the fuck. You know how historians are sort of unsure on how the infamous Greek Fire was made? You guys managed to rediscover it in a single day.

...In all honesty though, I went to Cleveland one time and it was pretty nice. So yeah. ^^

It has caught on fire twice? It's a body of water for Christ sake. You'd think once would be improbable, but twice? I don't think that should be something easily lived down.

I'm quite proud of our setting the Cuyahoga on fire: Is there any better sign of good old American Industry than catching a river on fire?? :gnarkgnark: And it has actually caught fire 13 times...

I find that tourism video hilarious, there is another one by the same guy but that is the better one.

^^

Toronto's Don River is pretty bad too when it comes to pollution; although, while biking down near the Don Valley Parkway, I saw several people's clothes hanging on bushes unattended. Weither that's just stupidity, or the river's actually safe to swim in, I'll never know.

Either way, I'm putting a lit match to it next time I bike down there.

Meh Cleveland is better than Canada.

WAAY too many Asians in Canada, and not enough black people.

Lol, self-hatred much? :P

Nah, we have our fair share of blacks. They arn't exactly the same as African Americans, but damn, Jamaican Canadians and Guyanese Canadians come pretty close.

That should give some decent insight on black hockey players. Although admittedly for me, seeing pictures of black people playing in the NHL is as shocking as seeing white people living in Africa.

And LOL Flumes.

Been busy doing paper(s), revising various things. Went on here briefly, then playing Mass Effect 2 and going to bed, most likely.

This evening I renovated my apartment in order to sublease it out because my landlord refuses to renovate it. I derived a sort of hedonic satisfaction from painting the walls and cabinets. I could be content being a housepainter for the rest of my life I think. I'm going to study for a few more hours and finally go to bed.

Went to bed at 8:30 last night, but watched the end of "House" in the bedroom. It was a rough week!

It's 5 pm... I've been up since 1:30 pm. Before that, I got up 8 am Thursday and went to bed at 3:30 am this morning.

I'm sick of homework.

Nice. Setting an alarm clock in the morning to play a video game is a great institution.

Got up at 8 (I'm On Call). Played Bioshock until 12. Completed it. The (good) ending is... well I saw it and went "GAAAAAAAAYYY!"

Then I got called in to work where they've been jerking me about for four hours (without lunch :( ). Gonna start Oblivion when I get off shift.

No idea why I'm sharing this...
