Well, I figured I might as well bring it up. The war system is being revamped, the map is in question, and colonization is being talked about, so why not time? How do we want time to progress? For the first NS2, we had said that every month would be a decade, or something along those lines. Ideas: 1) Real-time. If one day equals one day in the game, the years would go ALOT slower. This is probably a good idea if we plan on not leaving this time period at all. 2) One week = two months. Still slow, but time is progressing. After a month and a half of RL time, we'd see the next year. 3) Two weeks = six months. This is a little faster, but at least time is moving. Every RL month would be a game year. 4) Vote. Every 2-3-4 weeks we open a poll as to whether or not we want to move to the next year. If a majority says yes, then we go. 5) Not set. We keep it the same as NS1, where everyone can chose what year it is. I prefer three and four. 3, because there's a set rate. A month is more than enough time to RP the events of a year. I'm not sure about war, though, because it has proven to be a slow process under the previous system. However, if all parties kept up with the war and PMed their turns in a reasonable amount of time, there would be no problem. I also think a time limit to PM your turn should be added to the new war system, which would help this suggestion. I like 4, because then we can slow down on years that happen to have alot of events happening. We can move on whenever we want to and are ready to do so, or stay however long we decide. Number 5 is my least favorite and only included because it was brought up in the original NS2 time debate. I don't like it because we're playing in a historic time, rather than present day. In NS1, it works because it's set in today's time, where the technology resembles what we have now. In a historic time period, years mattered more because everything moved slower, trade, wars, exploration, etc. Sure, time can be fluid to an extent, we can RP at any time of the year, provided that we stay within the current IC year so everyone remains on the same page. Opinions? Ideas? Arguments? |

Huesca was the moderator for that and we don't have anyone else that can do it. Atticus and I are the only mods and both of us are involved in the war, Atticus is covering for RD. But that has nothing to do with time! Stay on topic! |
