OOC: This is after the fall of Tou's France and at the same time as TC's and Alberto's French country's rise.

IC: The French Republic was gone. Everyone could see it coming, everyone but perhaps the French. Many had prepared for the moment, but Venice had been ready for some time. Like any monarch, Imperator Reed sought to expand his domain. Like any modern politician, Imperator Reed wanted the backing of his people. France was a democratic leader, the democratic leader, of the world. Though Venice was only partially a republic, the Imperator did his best to make the people think it was truly a republic at heart. Here was a chance to grow his power and his popularity at the same time. Such chances did not come often.

"La gente di Venezia! Our once strong and noble allies have fallen, destroyed from within by the corrupt politicians that endanger every republic that ever graced the earth with their presence. The people of Francia face many dangers, but the most immediate and apparent is the potential loss of their democratic freedoms. They are surrounded by democracy's fears; anarchy and monarchy. As a fellow republic, it stands to us to defend these republican people.

As I speak, the Armata di Venezia is moving north and east from Galicia. Those they encounter will be offered citizenship, and welcomed into our proud nation. They will be provided for, defended, and embraced by us all. They will be granted all the freedoms we hold dear, freedoms many others lack. This day Venice stands as a valiant defender, a holy crusader, a noble cavaliere, for all people who love freedom and democracy. Long live La Serenissima! Long live democracy!"

OOC: That can still happen. This is afterwards, after France. I skipped to this because Vespery's nation was going to step on a few plotlines, so I came up with a work around. It's not fair to have him wait to RP his nation until France is played out.

Official Statement

The Republic of Porcu strongly condemns the actions taken by the so-called "republic" of Venice. Stockholm's stance has been, and always will be, that the people of said territory must be given a voice in their governance. By failing to hold even a preliminary referendum, Venice has shown its true colors and Stockholm will oppose all future Venetian actions taken unless they are given legitimacy. The state of European affairs is a sad one indeed if her able-bodied countries will not unite against aggression.

Pope John David I offers recognition of the Venetian expansion in exchange for recognition of Cologne's authority over all Belgium.

OOC- It hasn't given a position either way, actually. But if this is for Sperry's independence, does that mean there won't be a Venetian part of the state?

OOC: You'll see at the end of the RP.

IC: "I don't recall any polls or anything along these lines when Porcu establised control on many islands in Asia, America, or the Alps. You claim to be a republic. yet don't stand up for those who for so long stood as a bastion of democratic power in the world. You instead condemn us, the ones actually stepping up to the challenge while you cowardly hide behind your words. Venice refuses to acknowlede the Porcuian opinion in this matter"

"Franco, Tarbes is up ahead. Less than a dozen clicks, according to your GPS. Keep an eye out for insurgents. Come in fast and low, and try to not get blown out of the sky, if you don't mind. That helicopter is very expensive. "

"Very funny, pendejo. An easy joke to make from the warmth of that bunker."

"Calm down, Franco. Weyler? You on the main gun?"

"Yeah. Don't worry. If any of these fuckers so much as point a gun at me, I'll shoot them."

"Do try to restrain yourself, Weyler. We're here to win them over, not blow them up."

"Chief, when does the main force arrive?"

"They're not coming. We're not keeping any land that far north. We have a wing of attack helicopters like yours in the sky over there, though. If you do go down, we will get you."

"Aw, thanks, Chief. I'd almost think you had a heart!"

"Limit the radio chatter, please. Go on."

The Porcuian response was swift. No further words were needed but it was apparent that the Venetians needed to catch up on their reading.

OOC: It's alright guys, me and Telosan discussed this. I'm currently discussing with Toussaint how I got into a union with him in the first place; once that's solved, I'll post and we'll get this show on the road. B)

The Republic of France strongly condemns this blatant act of expansion, we are cutting any diplomatic relation with Venetia unless its troops are withdrawn from the French soil .
The French people has the holy right to be independant and not under the domination of some Italian bankers, we so advice the Venetian government to reconsider this move .

The Pope again will extend his hand to recognize Venetia's claim in return for recognition of his own in Belgium.

I need not repeat the words that we have stated to the Venetians countless times. There overwhelm lust for wealth and power is so disgusting, and even those that do not follow the Lord's words can even see it. We can only ask that the Venetians are to be taught a lesson, ere they burn in hell.

OOC: Just as a review, if my numbers are correct there are currently 3 Oppositions to 0 Approvals. If my numbers are incorrect, feel free to correct me. Here is what I have:

Opposition: Porcu, France, and Teutonic Knights
Approvals: None (Cologne willing to approve upon requested conditions)

If these numbers are correct, then I will have to deny this expansion at this time. However, you certainly have time to gather more support.
OOC: As the person being "conquered", I oppose it too, of course. I'll make my post tomorrow.

OOC: Ok, I've deleted by last review, here is the new one. If my numbers are correct there are currently 4 Oppositions to 1 Approvals. If my numbers are incorrect, feel free to correct me. Here is what I have:

Opposition: Porcu, France, Vespery, and Teutonic Knights
Approvals: Cologne

Therefore this expansion will be granted under a "not regionally recognize" label. This means that although it can be claimed as a territory of your government, it will exist in a semi-autonomous fashion.

OOC: Technically, Sperry doesn't exist yet as of this RP. In addition, one of the terms of the negotiation granting Sperry's independance will be mutual recognition of sovereignty/expansion.

"My dear democratic brothers and sisters, the Imperator lacks the authority to speak on this subject, for he is a monarch, while I represent the people of Venice. If it so pleases our friends to the north, I will call for a poll in the territories of dispute so they can excercise their democratic right and see that Vence means no harm nor desires to take anything from them. I sincerely apologise on behalf of the Imperator, for he has overstepped his bounds."

Official Communiqué

Your apology is overdue considering the very sovereignty and freedom of peoples is at stake, but shall be accepted nonetheless. It would be wise of Venice to have her democratically elected representatives speak on such matters before her monarch is allowed to blabber such nonsense. Stockholm will recognize the legitimacy of Venice's actions once such a referendum is held and its results verified by an election team from ICON or Porcu.

I trust such oversight will be welcomed by our Venetian comrades.

"Of course. We have nothing to hide and will welcome your assistance. With France gone, it seems Porcu is now Europe's leader of democracy, and we will stand aside if you wish to ensure all is right."

OOC: Do I need to open a poll now?

This RP is so sidetracked right now. Vespery, lets get this going!
