Relations with Great Britain could not be worse than it was now with the Celtic Empire. A samll war had just been endured by both parties, and it has led to a excess of malcontent. Although former governments have been rash and aggressive, the new Celtic government was willing to make peace whatever the condition. In addition, a five year truce was already in place, and although it prevented war, it did not prevent hostility. Aderyn Blackwell was the man chosen for the diplomatic job. He was a withering old man, yet he contained a powerful voice. Nevertheless, he was calm and reserved. The old Welsh government had found no use for him, as they insisted on downright aggression. However, that government wa no more, and the Celtic people were willing to make amends. Already in Liverpool visiting his distant relatives, Blackwell was asked to request an assembly with King Edward, in order to improve relations. He made no hesitation to take the job, as this would greatly benefit his country. The Welshman entered the Parliament and looked for the nearest secretary. He chose a fair-skinned, young lady and politely smiled as he made his way over to her. "Hello there, this may seem strange, but could you perhaps get me an audience with the King? I'm a Celtic diplomat, and was asked to come here to improve relations." |

"I'm sorry sir, but you can't just show up and expect an audience with the most powerful man in Britannia. He's quite busy, you know. In fact, he's off in Ireland at the moment." At that moment, however, a man in a tall hat was exiting a nearby room, pipe in hand. "Well, Beth, I'm headed home," he said to the secretary. "Enjoy the rest of your evening, Lord Wotton." "You do the same. I'll see you bright and early tomorrow." At this, Lord Wotton saw the obviously foreign man who was speaking to his secretary. "Who do we have here, Beth?" The foreigner spoke up. "My name is Aderyn Blackwell. I've been sent from the Celtic Kingdom to discuss diplomatic matters with the King," was the reply. Lord Wotton sneered when he heard that the man was from Britain's neighbor. However, feeling the potential for amusement, he responded cordially, "Well, sir, The King is off in Ireland. However, as First Minister, I suppose I could meet with you. Yes, it is my duty to extend my schedule to receive such an esteemed man as yourself. Come this way, won't you, and I shall discuss things with you under the full authority of His Majesty." |

Blackwell looked cautiously from the secretary to the lord, then back again to the secretary. "Well, it seems as if I've overextended my stay, and I'm going to have to deny your audience." He turned to the secretary. "It was a pleasure, 'm arglwyddes." Blackwell proceeded to exit the building, never once turning back to see Lord Wotton. Blackwell spent the remainder of his week with his relatives, enjoying himself as time permitted. |

"These imbecile Scot-Welsh amount to nothing more than a big headache, Beth. I'm sort of disappointed I didn't get my entertainment dicking them around. Oh well. I'm out for the night. See you tomorrow at sunrise." With that, Lord Wotton returned home, just as scheduled. |
