NRE, I must say you did a fine job on those cleaned up rivers in the east. However, I have one complaint. Your map is now smaller than it was, and its harder to read as a result.

Yes, I noticed an I'm still working on that.....my first attempt was even smaller, I knew why that happened but when I fixed that problem I still didn't get the desired size...give a few more minutes.

An thanks for the congrats, I'll also be cleaning up the borders between nations and the outline of the region as a whole, to clean out some of those gray areas and unsightly weird areas.

Thank you for granting the request of The Emirate of Al-Andalus (formerly Tawhid and Jihad).

Our nation looks forward to dealing with its friends and foes respectively -- with generosity for the former and just retribution for the latter!

I do indeed hope I am able to shake things up in my area and hopefully add some fun.

After playing with a single nation for a pretty long time now, I've decided to make a first attempt at having a second nation, and that's why I created the Federation of Altneuland on NS, in the European Continent. This is the land I request, and it pretty much lies on the borders of real life Poland:

Is this alright?

Welcome, aijeb, I'd like to be friends OOC, and IC. Iberia is a great pleace to live, but is tightly regulated by Hispania's 'Flunkies', so be careful on whom you chose for friends. Also, I'd like to recommend JAUST to you, as an alliance. So if Hispania gets 'all in your grillz' JAUST will save you.

That's a lot of land for a new nation, however, I'll give most of the coastline of that picture and bring the borders to a more reasonable level for a newer nation. Don't forget that as your new nation grows, you'll have a chance to expand overtime, a luxury in Europe that you can't get in the Middle East very often

This Hispanic island in Iberia (Asturias) is still actually GNF.

Well considering the fact that this land has been left unexploited and so empty for so long, I don't think there will be demand for it anytime soon.
I think it would be reasonable to grant me the land I ask, on the condition that should another nation would want to be established in the next few months on the exact same spot, I will grant it a reasonable portion of my current land, of course while consulting you as the regional map maker.

Also, I don't think that population size on NS should make a lot of difference when it comes to land on the forums - take the USOI as an example: it's one of the bigger nations in the Middle East in terms of population (over 4 billion) but one of the smallest in the region as well as the world in terms of land.

I won't argue that there are exceptions to the population size=nation size in regards to map since there are areas in our world open, the lend people to only small baths of land. That said it has always been my policy (as it has usually been most mapmakers policy) to start new nation's small, and allow them to work up from there. I would show you a graphic of the land I am going to grant you but at the moment I am having trouble getting the map uploaded to my hosting site.

Well, just try to include the location of Warsaw within it.

And since I'm not much of an expansionist, how do nations "work it out" so they'll increase the size of their territory?
I mean, when would be the right time for me to ask for more land?

Well, I was told by Quaon that you get some sort of expansion every 1-1.5 billion people. Since my nation is only about 460 million, my nation is about the starting size land of any nation.

This map is incorrect: I've never allowed Hispania to take over Asturias, besides it needs some updates.

I was given an Asturian expansion by Q, but that fell through, and GNF kept it. ((Please fix that)).

However, in light of that, could I get land (in a natural lookign way) up to the border with Surilia?

Fun? In Iberia? I don't think Hispania will allow that.

I'd like to request an expansion which mirrors as closely as possible the area I have filled in to the southwest of my nation.

I'm guessing we're talking about that small portion of land between you and Surulia? I'll change that back soon. As for an expansion His, as you are already approved to take Surulia after the Surulian war is over, I'm going to have to deny this request as it sems to be too much land all at once. As I am sure Q will return after you've receive Surulia you can take that request up with him.

I've modified the area but approved it and it has been added to the map.

Well after three days of trial and failure I have finally been able to upload a somewhat current map.

One of these days I will be happy when the borders of Eastern Europe look natural again. Namely mine which were turned into straight and ugly lines by this map base.

Also since everyone is expanding... could I get some land to my south east following the river?

Mmm... If that's true, I ought to think about doing some expansion of my own in the near future. Belgium looks awfully lonely for a nation of 1.5-1.6 million.. Even with an overseas colony.

Well, you picked a pretty bad spot, I almost chose that area, but I realised that there would be bno expanding from there.
